I was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago. Surgery removed the cancer, but I also had preventative chemo/radiation as the cancer had spread to two lymph nodes. Telling my boy I had cancer was so hard, especially with him old enough to have met cancer before. Going through treatment was horrendous, and trying to stay me through it all was incredibly hard. If I had been forced to announce what I was going through to the world, open that door into my most frightening and vulnerable time, because people just couldn't mind their own damn business and think that just maybe people are hiding stuff because it's private and personal, and they don't WANT to talk about it yet....well I'd be a lot less gracious and dignified than Kate was in that announcement. Now I hope she can be left alone so focus all her energy where it belongs, on getting through her treatment, and being with her family.
No, she can't be left alone. You people don't get it. She's a public figure she holds a title. There is no expectation of privacy. The family is supported by the British public and therefore obligated to report even their medical status. Harry has been trying to fight for more privacy but no one supported him in his fight. So, they get what they get. They can only ask for privacy but they can't make the press give them that privacy. Get over it.

My Aunt has a stage 4 breast cancer. After her breast removal operation she underwent chemotherapy, which happened when she was 24 years old and the doctor told her that she only had a year to live. But God has planned for her to be cancer free after her chemotherapy and live until she was 92 years old. She died because of old age and not of her cancer. Kate won’t have to endure long waiting lists or worry about getting the best possible treatment, or find out if certain meds she needs are dependent on her postcode. She has the comfort of knowing that she will be given the best treatment there is and thus have the best chance there is of beating her disease. She will have the best consultants, the best therapists, and she’ll be able to take as much time off as she feels is necessary to recover. Poor William, your father diagnosed with cancer, your wife diagnosed with cancer, the public attention and often lack of respect and then you have three young kids to take care of. I’m not even going to go on about the terrible situation with his brother. And while all this is going on, at the same time, he has to deal with the threat that he might have to step up and take over the thrown if Charles is no longer able to fulfill that role. One can only hope he has all the strength and support and that everything will end well and everybody will be healthy. So, leave them alone and show some respect. The media as well as everybody else.

I was diagnosed with kidney cancer two years ago. As a single mother in her 40's with 3 kids (mine are older, though, 2 were already over 18), I can remember the struggle to just get the words out of my mouth when telling my kids and parents. I can't even imagine having to tell the world. She and her family are in my thoughts and prayers, and I really hope people leave them alone.
