In this video I show off the updated 2019 UI for Android Auto on my Alpine iLX-W650. It was not available on my T-Mobile REVVLRY+, but it was available on both my OnePlus 7 Pro, and Samsung Galaxy Note 9.
The Alpine iLX-W650 is installed in my 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Freedom Edition.
I purchased mine from Crutchfield:

Good review. I'm about to buy one and put in an 2005 sequoia is the sound quality decent without the amp? Is the amp a must ?

I thought it was pretty good. I think the Sony XAV-AX100 I had before and my current Pioneer AVH-W4500NEX sound better, but the Alpine iLX-W650 is light years ahead of the factory head unit. Also better than the Android head units I used to use. Overall the Alpine iLX-W650 is great for the money, the short chassis is easy to install and a great head unit

Do you have to plug in the usb to do android auto or can it go over bluetooth or something? Dont know if I want to plug in every time. Louisville rocks!

Louisville does rock. For the Alpine iLX-W650 you do have to plug it to use Android Auto. You can use plain Bluetooth audio without plugging it in, however you won't get the full Android Auto experience. For the price, the Alpine iLX-W650 is a solid product. If you can afford a bit more, I would recommend the Pioneer AVH-W4500NEX. I just recently installed it in my Jeep and it does have wireless Android Auto and I am pretty happy with the head unit overall

When I was installing my firmware update something happened and now every time I touch the brake pedal it shuts off, is there a way I can factory reset without having the settings on the device?

There is a pinhole somewhere probably that might get you to a reset screen

What kind of usb cable are you using? My phone S8 is not able to connect to the android auto for some reason

I tried multiple cables, the one that came with the Note 9, the one that came from the OnePlus 7 Pro, I ordered one directly from Google, and I tried the Anker one that Reddit suggested. I read theories that the cord from Alpine was problematic. I have another video where I replaced it with the dual USB ports in the cigarette lighter and after that I had zero issues.

Hey man. I am trying to put this radio in my 18 jku. I cannot access hardly anything and think it's the parking brake wire. I don't know where to hook it up. I tried grounding it to the original cage behind the radio. Any suggestions on how you did yours.

I had mine pre-wired by Crutchfield, so I am not sure where exactly where they put it. But if you have it wired to a PAC module, I believe the PAC has its own parking brake wire

You need a bypass for the parking brake

My 13 jku stock stereo sucks even with better sound bar speakers and a sub/amp. Will upgrading this make the existing speakers sound a lot better?

Yes, undoubtedly. I originally had the stock navigation head unit and it sounded like ass. I upgraded the speakers to the Kickers and it still sounded bad. I had 4 speakers, an amp, and a sub. It was just a louder shitty sound. Then I got a Chinese head unit and it sounded like a symphony compared to stock. Then when I got away from the Chinese head units and got major brands like Sony, Alpine, and Pioneer it took it to another level. The stock head unit is hot garbage

Mine was pretty good, I had no issues with it. I only replaced it with the Pioneer AVH-W4500NEX because I wanted wireless Android Auto

So is the version of Android auto dependent on your phone? Or is it Android version? Something else?

No this was an update to Android Auto that most phones should get. It is much better than the previous version

It is pretty good, but I think anytime you have good speakers you are going to want a good amp

Yes, but not by that much. I would think the newer Dasaita MAX6 is probably pretty close to the Alpine quality
