I've owned 4 of these factory fit android radios. I have one in my closet waiting to be installed along with a 4-channel amp, speakers and subwoofer. Been happy with all of these units. My latest is for my Toyota Yaris. 7" Android 6.1. Only had one capacative touch screen failure in 3 years. It was a 6.2" and I will be ordering a screen (~$40.00) and keeping it as a backup for my Kia Sedona head unit. The prices on these units seem to be dropping. I found one for a student for his VW - 8" screen and for less that $200.00 shipped! I buy all of mine from sellers on aliexpress. I concur with everything you've said. Great video. Thanks!

Seriously considering ordering one for my Lancer this week. I'm glad you did this review after 1 year of ownership. All you see is installation videos and quick navigation. My Lancer has the Rockford Fosgate option, I haven't seen many of them with that option install nope have I seen anyone install with the backup camera. My Lancer is something new to me and I want to try new things with it, when I saw the android radio I was sold and you confirmed that I need to get it.... thank you.

I feel the same way John. I like it for what I use it for, mostly the car apps, especially Torque, it works great. Also when I need to connect to the internet through my hot spot, works great. Only thing I need to upgrade is my speakers and an amp.

I have a similar Android based HU in my Mitsubishi Lancer, and for the money it can't be beaten. Had mine over a year and I'd rate it at 4/5 with a few minor issues its worked great in the last 15 months. I do know for some of these Android units you can get a hardware upgrade, replacing the internal main board with a faster CPU and more storage and RAM.

I hadn't even thought of having Viper4Android running on a headunit! Dear God that must be dope! I bought a JVC Android head unit and hopefully it's root-able. If not, at least it has a 13 band EQ and some good sound processing features. But I sure count on Viper daily for now.

Just ordered the new model TR108, main reason why I got is cause those extra cores & split screen the ability to have waze & dashcommand to view engine information is awesome or even split screen music apps and waze...by the way the Tr108 has 2gb ram & 16gb rom I could have went for the 4gb & 32 gb model but the difference is in the screen design

My only concern would be, how quick is the boot time? I've seen a couple bad ones that took almost a short trip to boot up. And do you need to connect your phone via Bluetooth or USB for an internet connection for Pandora/Spotify/other apps. Is there any of these decks yet to take advantage of SiriusXM? I just go into.the boonies where cell phone coverage isn't always an option. But other than that, I do like your start screen. You hit on a lot of positives. I feel the initial screen looked easy to navigate while driving.

I have a similar head unit in my nissan altima. 10.2 inch android radio. I like it a lot, had it for almost 7 months now. I will upgrade it to another more spec'd out unit because mine is just a dual core processor and I want the octa core one that's out now plus it has more ram . But I'm loving these android units. Wouldn't go back to regular radios if you paid me to..

I had a Sub & Amp installed b4 I got the android head unit because the OEM set up sounded so trash & didn't have enough Bass (Non HK). Once I added the head unit it pretty much enhanced the sound even more being that it has an equalizer as well. no complaints here

Good video! With the desire for always wanting the latest and greatest, one could go broke always upgrading their system, (his coming from a guy who prefers old tech and tries to help others get the most bang for their buck). You made a good comparison with the tablet. So the latest and greatest may have more of something, but is it needed? If money is no object, then go for it! Personally I prefer to find if a new feature is practical or not. i could spend my money elsewhere on small projects (or feeding myself, haha). I have yet to take the plunge but am comparing android heads myself, slowly making a decision. I've noticed that eBay has listings for devices under Car Video w/ GPS, but a good number of similar units do not have GPS advertised, or it will say "no GPS" in the listing. I'm also looking for units that already come with a GPS antenna (for older vehicles like my '07 civic). I was looking at name brand models as well, but a visit to their site (Eincar, for example) do not show any pages for support, thus leading me to believe that some of these names are just resellers. You were spot-on about the xda-developers.com website which I have used in the past and will now spend more time reading up on.

Have you considered upgrading just the core board? You can grab a new core board for ~$100 on AliExpress and upgrade from the PX3 to a PX5 Octo Core with 4gb of ram and 32GB of storage. Looks like its just taking the shell off, two screws and the nut for the GPS antenna connector. Swap the board out, put the screws and antenna connector back in and done. Also upgrades you to Android 8.0 at the same time. I just got mine, it's a PX3 with 2gb of ram and 16gb of storage on 7.1.2; but I'd still like to go further with it. I'd especially like to go from 7.x to 8.x since 7.x has weird SD card formatting restrictions and doesn't let apps sit on the sd card, and prevents most apps from accessing it at all. I'm sure Malyak rom with root will help me work around it, but the upgrade seems so worth it. It's literally double the specs, a newer version of Android and lower power consumption... very tempting.

How do you use Waze and any other online Navigation? Do you tether your phone or have a wifi dongle? Or is the navigation loaded onto the radio? I totally agree that the screens on the Android radios are miles better looking than any "name brand" radio out right now which tells me the "big name" radio makers are cheapskates and are fine with the status quo.

Mine still on 4.4 lol but still better than anything out there. Going on 3 years Still running strong loving it.

Hello John Nyugen, I have installed this headunit into my 2018 wrx and have no signal to my reverse camera. I’ve seen a diagram you’ve posted on taping wires together and I still have nothing. It’s just a black screen, do you have an idea what could be wrong? Plz lol

Do you have to leave your phone's hotspot on to use Spotify on the headunit? That is my biggest problem with these compared to an Android Auto or Apple Carplay unit is that you have to manually connect. Am I mistaken?

i only used it for gmail gmap google search basic stuff youtube and music apps rear view cameras phone calls anything more il just use the phone or a computer not plan to play games with it to be honest i dont really see myself using anything more from a car as long as a head unit can do all this quick fast and reliable it all i ever need

But what about 2 or 3 years after you install the head unit? Do they break? A Chinese good unit 4 cores 2gb ram costs around 300 euros. I need one just for the looks, the fm radio, some mp4 videos for the children, need to keep the steering wheel switches and have a nice (not extreme) sound. Or in a years time will it brake? During summer, it gets 105 farenheit. They do not have fans. Please tell me your opinion with your experience.

Hi! This one looks insanely beautiful. Do you know if there is anything as beautiful as this one for the volkswagen golf? Or maybe this exact same one but customized for the golf?

I just bought an 08 Accord V6 coupe and my car doesn't have the OEM nav unit so I'm looking to upgrade that part of the car sooner than later.. looks like the OEM unit is insane with price and will be super outdated.. looks and control wise. I found the Seicane unit for it but the reviews are mostly bad... well the very few reviews I can find on it anyways. Mostly horrible customer support from the them once you buy it. My biggest thing is I want a simple navigation without having to buy any subscriptions... This has GPS enabled google maps.. so will it work without it being attached to a hotspot or wifi like a normal navigation system ? All the other apps are cool.. but really I need car functionality over cool apps... I can game and watch TV at home.

I got the pioneer nex 8200 head unit. Deck has everything I pretty much want from a radio. Being able to install apps on those android radios are nice but are you really gonna play games and surf the web when you can easily do that from your phone. My pioneer has navigation and it works great but I still find myself using the Navi on my iPhone instead.

Sheet i got the cheapo 45 buck double din off wish. Had it for 4 mon now and its great. Has screen mirror, nav,back up camera. I love it. If it breaks i have a 5 year replacement plan i paid 5.99 extra for. I dare anyone to beat that deal😊😊😊

Glad you got lucky and your unit is still working .Seicane is Horrible dont buy I bought one they have horrible service and when the product stops working they want you to pay for shipping and refuses to replace it without it being returned. Mine barely lasted 3 months
