I wish I could leave my plants in pots where I live. I reside in Canada, and my hardiness zone is 3. Leaving plants in pots all winter long is almost impossible. I just found your channel and am now a subscriber. I can't wait for the snow to melt and start working in my yard.

@lifeandgardenbyjuvy Hi, thank you for watching and subscribing, you're very welcome here. I used to live in Canada, north of Toronto in Kawartha Lakes so i have some understanding of the restrictions the weather can have on your garden/plant choices. Zone 3 is quite brutal though and must pose quite a challenge for you. I just had a quick look on your channel I have subscribed. You have created a lovely garden there, you can do so much with annuals, they really work hard all summer to produce masses of colour and give an instant impact. I used to bring some of my plants in pots indoors (pelargoniums etc) in Canada for the winter it was the only way to save them. I just watched your video of Wicket, the footage of him when a puppy looks just like my little Lewie, he is 16 now. Welcome along it's lovely to have you and I hope the thaw comes soon and you can get out into your garden and enjoy the warmth of summer again x

Hi again @@soulgirlktf, You talk of your Fuchsias - what varieties do you have. Mine are all hardy so have to put up with the elements whether outside in pots or in the ground or in the greenhouse. Your memones are looking lovely. Rain and greenhouse here today. P.

@@peterhaymaker7562 Peter, thank you again for watching it's much appreciated. The Fuchias in the greenhouse are Delta's Sarah, which the RHS class as borderline hardy so I've always protected it just in case I lose it as it's a beautiful colour and I really enjoy it, I keep it in a pot. The others in there are Holly's Beauty, Deep Purple, Voodoo, Swing Time & Peachy they are the hanging basket large frilly petalled cascade type ones for summer displays so not hardy at all, a bit like pelargoniums they won't take a frost well. I really do utilise my greenhouse. I think there's only a few weeks in the summer where it's not crammed full of plants ! I hope you get chance to get out into the garden, I think they are forecasting a few days of dry weather so fingers crossed 🤞

Hi again @@soulgirlktf and thanks for the reply. Yes, I keep doing a bit in the garden or greeenhouse. I too have Delta Sarah, it's lovely. All my Fuchsias are supposed to be hardy. The ones in pots I just leave under our conifer trees and make sure they don't get too wet during the winter and repot them in the Spring. I always take some cuttings in the Spring so I don't lose a variety and when young they live in the greenhouse overwinter. I saw somewhere you've had down to minus 10!!. I'm in Kent and we don't seem to go below -6'C. P.

@@peterhaymaker7562 Hi Peter, Yes most of mine are young plants and here in North Yorkshire it can get chilly in the winter. You are in a wonderful part of the country, Kent is beautiful. We are quite rural on the edge of the Dales and last year yes we were down to -11c in December. The snow stayed for over a week and the temps never came out of minus something or other day and night. It was very cold indeed. Taking cuttings is a great idea for lots of things, I love propagating but it can become addictive. I really enjoy seeing things grow. It's been sunny here today but with a cold wind - no rain is good though :)
