Oh boy, you are going to be bombarded by her fans called Angels that will fill you in on this music prodigy with an old soul from Norway. She's basically been a star since she was 7 years old. First and foremost, she is a jazz singer but has the ability to sing any genre. She also does all of her own musical arrangements. Her early influences are Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, and Etta James to name a few. Her love of jazz came from her grandmother playing jazz music around her when she was young. In 2014, she entered at age 7 and won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8. With her new found fame, she used it to appear on many shows from abroad and help raise millions for the less fortunate children around the world. At age 13, she was invited to participate on America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2020. She shocked the audience and the judges with her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. She received a standing ovation from all and got the Golden Buzzer from judge Heidi Klum to go straight to the Finals. Her performance went viral and even the group Queen responded on Twitter by saying, " Wow, what a rendition!" For Queen to respond to someone covering one of their songs is quite a feat since they rarely react to anyone . Not only that, but she received the copyrights for her version of this song from Queen, which makes it hers now. She did not win, but her fan base grew and expanded her popularity. Now 17 years old, living in Los Angeles, and currently signed with Republic Records, whose clients include Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, and Drake to name a few. Her family and Republic Records had agreed not to heavily promote her just yet so she can live as normal of a life as possible and finish her schooling. From what we know, she is finally done with school. She had a single that came out May 5th called Love Don't Let Me Go, a new EP called Old Enough that came out Friday, July 21st, a newly released video of her new song called Now I'm The Fool, and a new album of original music which will be coming out later this year. She recently returned back to Norway and performed at a number of sold out concerts in which fans from around the world came to see her. Many of the fans there said she sounded better live in person and was a once in a lifetime experience. Her fans call her The Barefoot Princess. She always performs with no shoes when she sings. Why? The reason is very special. When she was 6 years old, she was traveling with her family in Iran where she met a poor shoeless girl in the streets that was about her age. She made money by weighing people. After speaking with her for a few minutes, Angelina noticed the scars on the girl's feet and asked the girl what her dream is. The girl said she wanted to be a doctor but she couldn't because she had to make money for her family. Angelina did what came natural to her, she gave the little girl her shoes and told her to not give up on her dreams. The girl then asked Angelina what her dreams were, Angelina answered that she wanted to be a superstar, and the girl said she would pray for her success. Since then, Angelina has performed barefoot in honor of that little girl and to those who are less fortunate around the world. She keeps this promise to this day. I first saw glimpses of this child in a white dress through the crowded jazz bar in Lillyhammer. You could hear her voice as the sound track to the farewell scene. I was so intrigued loving Billy Holiday as I do. I researched and 9/10 years later I have listened to her every day since. I watched her trying on different vocal characters yet always recognisable. I watched her tackle all the great songs. I realised the point of difference between Angelina and other great singers is...they do what they do beautifully. Angelina can do it all. Yet she never does. She always serves the song. Its never showing off everything she can do. She cuts it down to what is needed to convey the emotion and meaning of the lyrics.

- The Barefoot Princess - (From her book, television and radio interviews, and podcasts made between 2014-2015. Includes excerpts from her diary made that day in 2012.) Why does Angelina sing barefooted? Angelina Jordan is known as "The Barefoot Princess" or "The Barefoot Princess of Jazz," amongst many other names. She always performs barefooted, whether in front of a live audience or during a studio performance. The story is that while living in the Middle East, at 6 years old, Angelina came across an orphaned girl, of her own age, sitting in the street, weighing people on a bathroom scale to earn money. Angelina said to herself, "I would like to share her life for one second to know what it is like to sit alone, wet, and damp, and barefoot in a corner of the street." Angelina could see the girl's bare feet were scarred and that it was cold outside, so she offered her own shoes to the girl. Little Angelina says that she really loved her shoes, as they were very nice and she knew she would miss them. But she saw the other little girl’s need for them, which outweighed her own desire to keep them. So she insisted the little girl take them. Angelina called her Princess, even though the girl said she didn't live in a castle, but the ruins of a building next to where she sat. After sharing their hopes and dreams, the little girl said of Angelina's wish to sing for the world, "You will become the one you dream of and when your dreams come true, you have to remember the poor children without shoes; and I will pray for you Angelina.” Later that day, 6 y/o Angelina wrote in her diary, "The world is very strange. Right then and there, I felt as if a door in my heart opened up, and it was filled with lots of lights. It was as if there was, from Earth to Heaven, a staircase. I climbed the stairs. To be able to do something for another human - it was such a big thing…hard to describe really.” From that point on, Angelina takes off her shoes, in honor of ‘Princess’ and all the other less fortunate children of the world, who are orphaned, hungry, or in want of even basic clothing. In 2015, at the age of 9, Angelina wrote a book about the encounter, as everyone continued to ask why she sang barefoot. Her grandmother, Mery Zamani, created the artwork for the book. So at 9, Angelina Jordan became the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina has performed alongside many other artists, raising attention and helping to raise over 21 million euros and millions of dollars for children in need.

Thanks for your reaction! She is only 17 years old today and from Norway. She signed with the label Republic Records just 14 years old, I think we can safely leave the promotion to Republic Record. Marketing will start when her full album is released later this year. There's only one EP with 6 songs she's released from RR now, and they haven't started marketing until the full album is released!. Republic Records know 100% what they are doing? I think a lot of people don't realize how much Angelina has done in her short life (17). FIFA song She performed in front of 40 000 people only 11 years old. She was also specially invited by Quincy Jones to perform on his 85th birthday in the O2 arena / London. And so on goes the list .... She has over 200 songs on RU-vid. The truth is that within a year or two she will be the artist for the big occasions. and not a "bare belly plastic artist" who tops a list for a week and is forgotten just as quickly. She already eats most female vocalists for breakfast, and the label Republic Records and the rest of the music industry know that too!

What a difference a day makes, when she's seven is astonishing. It takes place at an open air festival. She's got roses in her hair. That one. Then Fly Me to the Moon on the TV show the view. Then I put a spell on you, when aged nine. That's plenty to be going on with.

I chuckled when you said, "That's really cool she's got aspirations." To quote Angelina's lyrics, "I told ya, now I'm 'bout to show ya."

Here is a quote from Angelina (7y) from an interview with TV2 after her Auditions NTG 2014. "The reason I chose this song is completely random. I love jazz, but" Gloomy Sunday "was random. It was a night I could not sleep and my mother was stressed that I was awake long after midnight. Then I borrowed my mom's iPad where I wanted to listen to jazz on RU-vid before I fell asleep. Then came a picture of a beautiful lady screaming at the sky and with her eyes closed. I heard the song "Gloomy Sunday" that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood well what the text was about because I know English well. Every time I sang it I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. From her audition on Norway’s Got Talent (2014 - age 7 - Gloomy Sunday "Billy Holiday") through the final on America’s Got Talent The Champions (2020 - age 13 - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road "Sir Elton John") and the 130+ videos in between you will not be disappointed. This includes three originals song: “What Is Life”, “Oslo” and “Shield” Since then she has done many new covers and now her new singles "Million Miles" and “7th Heaven”, along with her movie soundtrack "Mercy" from the motion picture “The Hating Game”. Sir, Miss Angelina practices her craft almost daily since the age of 3,5. YES, at age 4 she began visiting the music and performance academy of Oslo, Norway, for technical advise. When she was 10 yo, she had more experience under her belt, than many singers at age 30. She sang all over the world in front of audiences from 200 to 40,000+ (when she was 11). She has a few "unfair" advantages. Because of her very "international" family she speaks several languages fluently. Her dad´s side is Swedish. Mom is Norwegian, by passport, moms and uncle Michael´s parents are iranian and japanese. In school she learned French and German. I saw an interview with a german TV-Crew, where she haltingly spoke German and English. At age 6 she met the famous shoeless girl in Persia and she talked with the girl in persian Farsi. After conversing with the girl, Miss Angelina gave her shoes to this girl and vowed never to wear shoes while performing on stage until every child on this planet has shoes. Angelina is a master at this. Then, of course, she has a huge toolbox with various voice tricks to pick out if she wants! The blond haired lady you saw watching and crying from backstage was her mother. When asked later in an interview if they were happy tears or tears of sadness she responded they were both. That while of course she was happy for her daughter, she realized in that moment that she was going to have to share her daughter with the world. And she became the fiercest protector of AJ you can imagine, while still giving her the freedom to explore her passion, singing. Once Angelina won they were getting huge offers from all over the world, from the biggest players in the industry, including Disney, and turning them down. After AJ won NGT her mother was asked what’s next and she told them school. That AJ’s school came first, and that she would have as normal a childhood as possible. And except for charity events and occasional concerts kept that vow until AJ was well into her teens. At 14 AJ did sign a contract with Republic Records. But a stipulation of that contract was that she wouldn’t be promoted until she finished school. Which was last spring and why she’s still a relative unknown to the general public.

Angelina has occasionally had contact with singing teachers. But not so much to change her self-taught way of singing, but more to learn how to protect her amazing voice. Angelina, 4-5 yo, attended Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, She learned to play piano, guitar etc. She has also learned to arrange music etc. She started singing when she was very young! Since then, she has trained an incredible amount. I have heard that she practiced several hours a day, already at the age of 4-5.

Thank you Sonic for your reaction to AJ she is incredible ,she had mastered jazz at 7yrs old , discovering her and listening to everything she has ever done is a fantastic and wonderful experience. She is my favourite artist ever and still only 17yrs old but when she sings she is timeless she can sing anything across multiple genres , IMO the greatest storytelling artist , with the greatest personality and character voice, a kaleidoscope of colours and textures and as you felt her here feeling is innate within her she is inimitable, mesmerising, addictive and beautiful what a joy she has been and is and her heart is as great as her voice we love her dearly and she loves her angels (fans) she is no ordinary artist she is a magical experience. 💗👣AJ.
