I am in the camp of NOT caring about the polish. In fact, I’m specifically not looking to add something into my life that I need to polish and clean. But I appreciate how good they look clean.
For my medium pile carpet, it has too much airflow and is difficult to push, so I use it less and less as I get older. For low pile and bare floors, I could drive it around all day.
VacLab, oh, I can believe that, but I do not have wall-to-wall. I have fairly flat weave oriental rugs everywhere in my Catskill Mountains cottage where I use the Kirby. As it just so happens I was yesterday at my favorite - and only - vacuum repair place in Manhattan, where I last year bought a used Miele, and told the shop owner about my new Kirby obsession and he said “I didn’t know you had wall-to-wall - that’s really what they are designed for.” He cautioned me NOT to use a Kirby on my rugs, but frankly, all my oriental carpets show no signs of wear or damage and my cleaning lady has been using her Kirby on them for 9 years. I think I’m going to buy a used rug renovator kit off of eBay for my Heritage II. If the results are as great as I expect them to be I may be in the market for a 2nd Kirby in my one bedroom apartment in Manhattan. ;) But that’s where I will draw the line, I swear!
Great work! In my opinion Heritage II looks better than the G-series Kirbys. Very nice sounding also. They also still seems to perform very well even with the soft brushroll.
you probably dont care at all but does someone know a method to log back into an Instagram account? I stupidly lost my account password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me.
@Ezra Baker Thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and Im trying it out now. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
6200 for the front and 608z for the rear. BTW, nearly all bearings are sealed LOL, so you must mean what type of seal they use. The 6200 (front) are rubber sealed and can be repacked, the 608z bearings I use have metal seals on both sides and can't be repacked. Easy and cheap to find on eBay in 10 packs.
@@ClassicTVMan1981X seriously? These are industry standard parts. Don't be so foolish as to order them from Kirby as the markup is insane. I've gone over this in many videos. Get them from ebay at a massive discount. Kirby doesn't make bearings.
I like the vacuum Techno music , Thanks for the video . Just got one of these , not sure I did the right thing by buying it . I thought it would have more suction , I'm going to check out the propeller when I have time.
@@VacLab well I guess I mean high air flow . I had a little tiny leaf up against the base board & it wouldn't pull it in. It Seems ok, I had higher expectation of it . Thanks you for your YT channel. IF I keep it I'll try one of your bag recommendations .
@@MrLeo7627 fine dust and debris that isn't stuck down should be pulled in on hard floors quite easily when vacuuming. Of course, the height must be properly set.
Hi Bill! Just followed this video to disassemble and refurbish my Heritage II. The machine now looks great, but for some reason the motor now spins significantly slower than it did before the restore and much slower than your unit. Any suggestions for what I could’ve done wrong? Thanks so much!
Welp, either something is creating extra drag or possibly the carbon brushes aren't seated properly. Of course, this assumes all the wiring (coil pack) is OK. Did you check the motor amperage draw?
What would be the best bag to use? I got this thing for $15 on Craigslist and it’s in very good condition. Just the outer cloth bag- did not come with any disposable bags.
If I had a Kirby Heritage Legend II, I think I'd put a metal fan on it so it would sound a little more like the Classic 1CR I think the suction might be better with a metal fan anyway, what do you think?
can u provide a link to the bearing puller that u use. also does happen to work for pulling brush roll bearings off there shaft or just for the rear motor bearing.
I buy everything from eBay, so links change daily. Just search for "bearing puller" and sort for low price first. And it can remove whatever it can connect to properly.
@@VacLab 2 inch seems to be the smallest ones i see this one here is the cheapest one i see atm www.ebay.com/itm/Car-Auto-Repair-Tool-Two-Jaw-Arm-Bolt-Gear-Wheel-Bearing-Puller-2-inch/223233382268?hash=item33f9bf177c:g:UnYAAOSwZddcBV3t so that should to the job?
So I have a heritage 2 turbo that looks exactly the same. Doesn’t have the hole in the top ( Brush roll indicator ) So what years would mine have been built?
u wouldn't happen to know the bearing type number used in the heritage brush rolls. out of 3 brush roll only 1 bearing has any numbers on it and there super hard to read but i believe it said 687-2rs but ordering a 687-2rs seem to get me one that has a smaller outer diameter.
If the brushroll has been in regular use for more than 20 years, I usually get a new one. A Heritage brushroll is more than 30 years old so I wouldn't normally bother with replacing or repacking the bearings due to bristle wear. That being said, I tried to pry off the end caps in one of my H2L's and was not successful.
@@VacLab they should come off pretty easy they are just held on by the friction fit of the outer part of the bearing on the inside plastic of the end cap
Wish you offered repair services for us repair inept collectors. You definitely know what your doing. The vac shops around my area cant seem to repair older vacuums.
@@VacLab I sent in my Eureka brandywine esp for new bearings as I had some bearing noise. Now it makes this horrible screeching noise when the motor winds down. The vac place told me they cant do anything more. Hard to find a good repair shop here in Wichita.
@@corey3151 typically, a screeching wind down noise has a high likelihood of still being bearing related. Did you ask for your old bearings back as proof that they indeed replaced them?
@@VacLab if you watch over some of your sanitaire, you can see weird orbs, that can be called dust, but in some scenes, where you are just talking, you can see smoke too, it ended up on a"scary host sightings video" with your legend 2 according to my mother, she is into ghost stuff
