This "Florida" machine wasn't in too bad a condition, except the aluminum was so oxidized, it appeared gray. In the end, I was forced to use sandpaper and even though it's much shinier, there are still scratches in the finish.

That’s the thing about Florida machines: the aluminum eventually turns gray, and it looks bad. My DS80 was in the same condition initially, but some polish I found at Walmart helped to lighten the gray, and it improved. I too ended up using sandpaper, and the shine came back. I’ve yet to achieve the shine you have though (mainly because I haven’t used a bench polisher or a sander.)

I have a G6 I hand polished, put it next to the Avalir I machine polished, there's no comparison, looks like brand new, worth the expense.

I've seen two of these in thrift stores here in Colorado so far. Haven't picked up one yet because both of them were in *really* poor shape, beyond my financial ability to repair. Cracked mini-emtors, missing wheels, broken handle springs, missing outer bags, etc. If I ever find one that is somewhat complete and just requires some repairs, I'll snag it along with my G4 and Sentria 1. I'm also partial to the G series personally, so maybe that's partially why I haven't grabbed one too, not willing to spend the money on a unit I only kind of like.

My mom’s 1984 Heritage II Turbo won’t turn on. When I press the Power button only the Orange light illuminates, it won’t turn on. On other videos of other Kirby models they show a safety switch on the front of the power head, and another one between the bag by the wheels and the power head. But I don’t see any Safety switches to check on this Heritage II. Could you possible think of what is wrong? I appreciate your help. I love this video.

There's many reasons it might not turn on. Safety switches as well as worn out carbon brushes. Take it in for service.

I just acquired an 86 Heritage ii, it has a smaller nozzle, I was told it is a rare version

If you plan to use it on medium or high pile carpet, push-ability will be worse.

@@VacLab I have noticed this one is very quiet, more so than my G3

@@redwolfpiping5701 yes, the Heritage series is quieter than the newer G series.

I just brought a used Heritage I from person who got pass down from his Parent, and it was perfect , he said he only used few times. Everything work as it should but during the refurbish process, I realized he didn't used bag when he used it few times. I have see many RU-vidr Refurbish on Kirby Heritage videos, but no one mention to replace the two bearings on the motor and Commutator Carbon Brush, what's your recommend? Should I replace the bearings &Commutator Carbon Brush? Thanks

You do know that the Heritage is much lighter than the G series that replaced them, right?

The 5xx/Sanitronic series were quite light. Royals are very light too.

@@aaronfargan5513 I think you should define "light". My Oreck 2800 weighs 9 lbs with the cord wrapped. My Royal Pro 9 Amp weighs 17 lbs with the cord wrapped. Definitely not "light".

Sanitation system?
@aaronfargan5513
@aaronfargan5513 4 года назад
@@VacLab They might be thinking of the Scott and Fetzer Sanitation System, the precursor to the Kirby branded sweepers that came after. Those had to have been pretty light in weight as those were somewhat primitive in retrospect. The brushroll wasn't even driven by the fan motor but instead by the push/pull motion of the machine. There wasn't an emptor either -- the bag was attached directly to the discharge.
