I am the owner of this G8 & have to say that after multiple disappointments with a few “performance” shops in my area Dusty, Chris & April at BHP have been stellar! I had to trailer the car 240 miles to them but that drive was well worth it. I would do the exact same thing again if needed in a heartbeat. Their courtesy, knowledge, attention to detail, communication, patience & results at Blazing is second to none. And to top it all off they are just super people. Thank you Blazing High Performance! 👍🏻
What’s the bill/turnaround time look like to have this same set up? I have full exhaust and intake with a decent tune other than that stock 2008 G8 GT.
That’s very good numbers for just those mods, I have an LS3 FBO G8 and contacted BTR to see what cam they recommend for me and they too said to go with the RedHot cam. Can’t wait to get one and see what she makes!
@@nufnuffz28 what converter does car have? Curious I have friend that’s a girl thats wanting me to put a cam in her car . But she said she didn’t wanna have a big converter right away, an I wasnt positive what size cam can you get away from having to right away. Thanks awesome work car sounds great!
Very nice set up. I need that Pontiac logo trunk liner in my life. Google works well, but can you guys recommend where I should buy that from. Also our '09 G8 GT is mostly stock other than the VCM and Borla mufflers. I have deactivated DOD, but do I need to eventually replace the lifters anyway? I disabled it shortly after we bought the car with only 47K original miles from the original owner. We've had the car about a year and a half and barely put 10K on it.
My bolt on G8 GT w/6.0 has 259k miles on it, 100k of those mine, engine has never been opened to my knowledge. Recently replaced the radiator and starter, the starter looked original. DOD turned off with tune. Drive it with no worries 👍
Ill be running practically the same set up in my G8 here soon, only mistake I made was not getting a converter so Ill be running the stock converter. I know this is a little too much cam for the stock converter but in your opinion it should still be somewhat drivable correct? I know it'll likely push through the brakes a little bit and might bog slightly at low rpms but id be fine with that until I get a converterz
Hey mate, you have got some awesome videos here. I own a Holden Caprice with the L76. I have purchased the red hot cam to go in it. I will also be building and tuning it myself. I am pretty new to tuning and performance engines. I am a heavy diesel mechanic so I have some knowledge behind me. Would you guys have any tips for me when buolding and tuning. Thanks
Been looking at this cam for my lq9 swapped Chevelle. With the tbss intake would this cam work well or stick with the tsp chopacabra or truck Norris cam?
I have Pypes headers on my G8 GT, they're a 4 into 2 into 1 design, compared to most all longtubes that are 4 into 1. I know you already know the difference in header designs, and I believe you have previous use of the Pypes headers. The tri-y's on this build are like the Pypes, do they seem to have more power in the low and mid because of this design in dyno testing ? Keep up the good work !
Compared to the last Redhot cam we did it was slightly lowwr torrque as well, so I'd think they are slightly less effective than a 4 into 1 with a 3" collector. These neck down to 2 1/4 or 2 1/2.
I’m looking to get a cam for my 6.0 swap in a single cab Silverado. It’s bored 30over with 243 heads. I'm looking at the BTR Hot Rod cam or maybe the Red Hot Cam. Which one would you choose & why?… right now the motor is at the shop getting rebuilt & it currently has a BTR stage 2 truck cam. I do have a 2500-2800 stall
Just a street car, no particular goals? Hot rod cam. For compatibility with the stall, vehicle weight and driveability. Red hot wants a bit more stall and less weight imo. I'd also look into the btr ls3 stage 1, rectangle port or not.. Don't be afraid to call btr or Howard's, comp, etc. They tend to know more than most of us internet people.
I’m building an LQ9 with stock 317 cath port heads. Will eventually boost and it’ll be in a heavy 96 Caprice 9C1. You think this cam would be well suited?
@@nufnuffz28 hello gents, I'm having a very hard time getting the cam retainer t40 bolts loose, they are done up mega tight and I've used heat and still can't get them loose, have you guys has this happen before?
All done now, had to use easy outs to get them out. also changed to the ls2 dampener while I was at it because the ls3 tensioner was broken. first startup was beautiful and got it idling at 820, had to bump up the base running airflow to around 9.5g/s for it to not want to die @@nufnuffz28
@@nufnuffz28 I'm ordering everything now. Will both sides of the intake fit on the Spectre like the stock maf? Or do I need some kind of reducer? Thanks
