For spray painting bits of cars in a cold garage I bought an old ceramic infrared heater off eBay and made an adjustable stand for it. Dead handy for getting the workpiece to a reasonable temperature, say 20-30C, without having to heat the entire garage to that temperature! Also good for getting paint to dry/cure quickly.
Happy New Year , James, I find your honest approach to car sales is refreshing, looking forward to more video's this year. More power to you for a prosperous New Year.
I completely agree with you farming out some of the mechanical work. When you find a good mechanic it's great. I used to fix all my own cars outside in the cold and the rain but found a guy local to me who is really professional and charges very reasonable rates! I'll still do an oil and filter change myself but he now gets all the sweary jobs! Proud to be a chopper!
It is good to see your masterclass in the power of collaboration by working with people like your local garage in order to maximise benefits all around. Doing everything yourself in order to cut costs can be a very negative and short-sighted way to run a business, when just as with investing by training people has longer term benefits. Like everything in lefe, it's important to find a happy balance ... Happy New Year to you and yours ...
Really interesting and insightful video here James. I like the way you are a perfectionist for example with those wheels on the Note, many would have just sprayed it, and let the car go. It really is refreshing to see somebody really go that extra mile and ensure all the vehicles are prepared so thoroughly before handover to the customer. I wish you every success with your business!
Hi James, my mum has a micra 1.2, she has had it 13 years. Apart from the drivers internal handle, battery, brakes and tyres nothing has gone wrong. There are a couple of very small rust bubbles but for a 15 year old car. It still looks great but the headlights are yellowing now. Great content and love your honesty!
Proud to be a Chopper. It would be really interesting to see a video about warranty claims and which cars give the least. Hope the history turns up for the Note but at least it looks like it has been maintained. Happy New Year and have a great 2022
Loved the channel in 2021. I love that you go the extra percent. Did I hear you got a salesmen so you can carry on with the stock improvements titillation!!!!
Happy new year, all the best for 2022, hope your business goes from strength to strength! You deserve it with being so honest and trustworthy! Keep up the amazing work! 😃
Looks like a very nice motor there James. Moore’s must be as pleased with the business their getting from you - as you are with what there doing for you!! It all works for both parties. But it’s great that you have found a local reliable garage, they are few and far between!
I'm a chopperholic! .. With Phil's prices and service you can concentrate on the simple engine service and detail stuff ... let him do the more involved jobs . 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Peace and love brother 👍🏻☮♥️
Another great video from a ‘happy chopper’ 😂 I like your wheel refurb tyre banding method (playing cards) - is that honestly just playing cards pushed into the rim? You should do a video on warranty claims on your sun £5k cars. I think that would generate some interest. Happy new year chops!
lovely car. we had an automatic, same colour same model. N-Tec. very smooth and quiet. loved it. trouble was, because it was an automatic, the road tax was £200! would love to still own it today. was thinking of getting another one. a manual next time.
Been brilliant to watch your channel throughout the year. Note will make a brilliant first car for someone and with that mileage has plenty of life left in it
Had a 2008 1.6 tekna years ago,it was about 3 years old, couldn’t fault it,done the job very reliable car, very quite engine quite nippy aswell when it had to be.got it serviced every year good car.
Great video love the Nissan note E11 have one my self upgraded it for the Nissan Micra k12 thay suffer from lower arms and springs snapping commen problems and parts are not that expensive and all ways I. Stock good buy you flip that easy yeah would love to see a video about lowest costs repair or non at all
The "CHOPPER" In dear old Australia is a Rather Notorious Villain. Who got his name from Removing Parts of Poor unfortunate Chaps. 'Eric Banna' played him to a T..! (As in Terrifying. ..!) In a Movie called 'Chopper.!' Which made him almost 'Warm and Cuddly' (until u pissed him off..!) But "Choppers it is..!" Just mind your Ears or Fingers. (If not mistook..!!) 😎
Really enjoyed this presentation . I'm driving a 2008 Note for I got 11 years ago . Lovely little care . Mostly trouble free , fingers crossed . If I could get the same car reissued as a new model I would be straight down to the dealer . If only . Regards .
Try doing the alloys just with the etch primer - using the build primer is slowing you down in the cold weather. It’s just another layer of solvents etc
A couple of years ago, when I was shopping for a replacement for my very used 97 Honda Civic hatchback, I considered one of these as folks said they were quite roomy inside. Unfortunately, here in the 'states the Note (not sold here since 2017) is considered to be a very cheap car. So very few beautiful metallic colors (I do like this color) and the manual transmission is reserved for the basic/bottom rung trim level. All other trims get a CVT, YECH.
Keep up the good work Mr Chops...Would be better farming wheels out for painting too....wheel man only charges joe public £40 a wheel so you could probably get a better deal...How much are rattle cans these days ??
Spot on James,if it's worth their while having you as a customer and worth your while price wise then you are right to send the work out while getting on with other things, less stress, more productivity.
@@ChopsGarage True but its a two way thing,i bet they appreciate your honesty and how easy it is to work with you, your regular flow of business and of course your money. 🤣🤣
Hi James, just watched you advising that you are having reaction to wheel for painting, Wheels tyres are always full of silicon shine, And also i never detail the car when i am spraying the car with paintwork, to avoid silicone or wax related reactions. I always use OSCCAR silicon remover and use it as a panel wipe, It really takes all silicone out and also make sure that panel is left absolutely with no contemination before yous start spraying any Primer or even better that lacquer does not have any silicone reaction either. I hope this helps.
I am someone who is new to the game and finding a decent mechanic who is reasonable and knows what he is half the battle in my opinion. I work with someone whos probably know the cheapest but is experienced, honest as offers decent payment terms as well. I will start servicing myself now though
Do a video on what the guarantee is or how it works when a dealer sells a car on this price bracket. Think it would be great content. Keep it up James!!
Looking good. The Note was always a good car. Glad to be called a Chopper too although I do think of a bike! Can you send Brooke this way?! All the best James
Love the Nissan note...had so many lovely cars. Yours is missing the two pieces of flooring in the back. Have you checked the front passenger seat as it has storage under the seat ..I once found the full service book in there. Common stuff the wheel bearings. You got lucky with the air con, the condenser usually goes due to where it is ..but it's a relatively cheap fix as parts available cheap online.
Happy New Year James look forward to your interesting content throughout the year! the paint Spray you need to use for the wheels is available from Euro car parts and it’s only about £7 a can it comes out as the standard is factory silver and the finish is brilliant you really must try it
oh will look at that. my wheels got done by an alloy refurb place, but has a rough feel to it. and the brake dust has stuck to it which means it looks dirty all the time
If you have smelly a/c Bilt Hamber do excellent “bombs” you can run in the car to clean up the smell and mould etc. I have found all their products brilliant particularly their hand cleaner
Yeah I own a Nissan note automatic my self good cars just upgraded from a Nissan Micra k12 automatic as only got automatic license and had the Micra k12 4 year's never missed a beat nope the same with my note
Think the note is a stretched k12 Micra. We have two k12s in the family and have heard that the rear wheel bearings can be a weak point although never gone on ours. Ipdm is playing up on one of them and trying to workout how to read the eeprom on it so I can clone it to working one!
So, would those viewers with pseudonyms be 'Mystery Choppers' ... !? Watchers are certainly potential 'shoppers' ... It's seeming that the channel alongside the business is a developing business model and your affable honest style is getting you noticed gradually ...
Good motors them nissan Notes , now forget you tube , cars ,vans and go and get pissed 🍻🥂🍾and spend sometime with your family , happy new year James and all the other subscribers 👍
I am glad that Nissan Note turned out not too bad to repair and bring it on to the forecourt. I have decided to stick to cars between11 and 14 plate and stay in 5 to 6K sub market. I only buy cars with BCA Assured to make sure there is no mechanical Fault and I do the bodywork and detailing myself to make sure that i make the car absolutely mint before i put it up for sale. I bought a Seat Ibiza 14 Plate, Grade 3, 60K on the odo, Full Service History, i put a proxy on it for £4400, retail value at Auto Trader is coming up at £6850.00, so after fees, warranty, vat margin and prepration fees, i should have about £1300 margin on it. But as you know buying from BCA is always like walking on ice. I forgot to check that it said on the notes that the vehicle is modified, so not sure what i am going to expect, picking it up on Monday from Bristol at 8.30 AM, Bring it back to Derby and see what we are dealign with regards to modifications. wish me luck.
P.s. in the State of South Australia there is no 'MOT' system or 'Road Worthy System' here as yet..! Just don't Draw attention to yourself wiv Mr Plod and your Sweet. If you Do Get an 'UnRoad worthy Sticker' there are 2 types. 1. You take to Local Plod Shop. Show its fixed, cop signs it off as Done and Off you Go. 2. Means the 'Pitts' where your lucky to ever see it again..! Not without Spending Wedges of $$$$. They go Through it with a Fine Tooth Combe. Last time it happened to me, I bought another car, Same model and used the one wiv Ticket as Spares..!! Only in South Australia mind..! Cheers All. 😎
