Appreciate your hard work, Levi. Transcribing and having everything synced up with the original video takes a lot of time, patience and expertise. Have a good one, man!
I became obsessed with Zakk during my teenage years BECAUSE of this album. Dead As Yesterday and I Thank You Child... I picked up the guitar just to play this piece but I was still what, 12 or 13 and could not make sense of why I couldn't sound like him.~ Legendary guitarist, huge respect.
Wow I had no idea he could sing like that. I so wish my right hand could get even a little bit like his. Another good one Levi, you are really prolific and it is so appreciated, thankyou.
Keep posting what you like Levi. Alot of us are getting exposed to music we wouldn't have found otherwise. And there is plenty of variety for everyone.
Thanks a million for uploading this. It was here years ago then vanished. Some time later someone else uploaded it but they had to adjust the tone or pitch or some such, maybe to avoid a copyright strike??? Anyway, thanks again. This performance is beyond amazing
Obviously it's not exclusive to Zakk, but I learned to love counting down on the acoustic by tapping on it like he does around 4:46 from him. Just always feels very Zen I suppose? Another great video by the way, Levi. Thanks again for all this content.
yeah his vocal here is SO good, honestly to me it makes him a bit of an enigma. his vocals for Pride and Glory were stellar too. his voice is still strong as hell but it's just not nearly as dynamic, or more like he doesn't really showcase it. he kinda fell into a certain sound later on and pretty much just sticks to that. also his voice still works very well for Sabbath tunes. he recently did a tour where he covered only Sabbath tunes and called it Zakk Sabbath lol. it actually ended up being really good, the vox were spot on and his style worked perfectly for it.
It honestly feels like he learned how to sing like Ozzy, stylistically, and just fell in love with it. This era Zakk was a cross between Greg Allman and Chris Stapleton.
@@rickjones641 yeah it's definitely a preference thing. he's the type of dude to not play arpeggios just because too many people already do it lmao. he's a very ''signature'' artist.
This totally rock!, would like to try but I'm hesitant because the tuning would mess up my guitars standard E glory😅, but props to Levi for this wonderful acoustic clip from Zakk.🤘
i bought that exact acoustic because of this live session i'm gonna teach my daughter Blood is Thicker Than Water any day now (good song and even better lesson, her roots are everything)
THIS zakk was my god when i was 13 in 1998. I wasnt even a 'guitarist' yet then but still a drummer lol. God how i miss the young clean shaven bell bottomed zakk. Absolute monster
Like yourself, Levi, I enjoy this era of Zakk’s playing and songwriting the most His love of Southern rock and great songwriters like Elton John, Neil Young, Tom Petty and so on, meant his writing for Ozzy was never one dimensional. Let’s face it, there’s a whole generation of guitar players who grew up on shred but have never moved beyond the old i-VI-III-VII 😂 In his book “Bringing Heavy Metal To The Children” he says that music is predominantly a business, and he’s rather write, record and tour with an album than spend years in the studio. Obviously this has had A hand in the style of music he now plays To paraphrase his thoughts “I love Guns N Roses to death, they’re my friends…but you can’t spend 15 years on a record. Your original fans will have got tired of waiting or have moved on, and todays generation aren’t gonna get hyped either-everything has its time” Or words to that effect! 😂
@LeviClay damaged how been a fan my whole life since book of shadows.been to numerous acoustic shows. It seemed like he changed his voice because his overall style and tone for the band changed. Had nothing to do with damaged vocals chords.
@@thenickseditious The correct term is vocal folds. The use of the term vocal cords is a giveaway that you don't actually know about the biology of vocals do you? Sooooo... you're sat here telling me what it "nothing to do with" despite not actually knowing anything about the subject?
@LeviClay your sat here? Dude I said I never seen him say anything about damaging his voice. Do you think that's the only vocal chord injury? You gave no proof no fucking details to anything your saying all I said is the dude still has An amazing voice hence the was and then said I've listened to him his whole career and his singing changed with his style. He went from zakk wylde country singer to zakk wylde metal singer. You get all hype because someone has a differing opinion of you you fucking nerd we both like the same musician.
@LeviClay and also the biology of vocals? Who the fuck knows the biology of vocals so I'm thoroughly convinced someone used this on you in an argument and you are regurgitating it. Just like your channel is all other peoples shit so are your opinions.
His vocals sound wicked the BLS. It sounds like a feedback effect and octave shift are being used for that sort of mucky thick texture and pitch with a tiny bit of chorus to produce what in fact sounds wicked. *There's an endless sea of forum posts pondering what he's doing in abundance and now nearly 20 years old lol, but I can sing 7 octaves, do that voice without any effects as well as countless others naturally, so I know exactly what I am hearing.* Remember the guy from police academy doing those insane sound effects? *I can do that with my voice including Peter Steele's without an octave effect. I can do it without it sounding like an impersonation from having started when I was 10.
Yes, Zakk has too much vocal damage and couldn't sing like this any more. His unsupported use of growl over fry irreparably damages the vocal folds. Back in the day, he was an excellent singer. Now he gets by with what he has.
