Another Shop Only Fixed Part of the Problem... 

Good job diagnosing a misfire Kenny, and you didn't even have to hook up a scope to it. Don't get me wrong, scopes have their place, but sometimes looking at basic data and experience leads us to the problem faster than it takes to hook up a scope. I hope you and Mrs. Wrenching are enjoying the new place! 👍🏻

A coworker of mine has one of those 300’s. He worked at the Tech center in Aburn Hills Michigan and was bought out and part of the deal was a great deal on that car. I drove it once I don’t know what engine it has but it was one fast and smooth car, I was driving on interstate to my house and looked at speedo and I was traveling at 97 mph seemed like I was going 60!!!!!

Kenny, I stopped trying to answer the why question a while ago. All I can tell folks now is what, they can use their imagination for why. Keep the good stuff coming.

You should've shown us the scanner live misfire data after installing the new plugs, just to watch there's no more misfires. Great video.

When I worked at a Dodge dealer back in the 90's, I went to the parts counter for a set of plugs. Well, the parts guy trying to be a smartass, banged the box of plugs on the counter. Guess what? he smashed the electrodes down so I had to regap em all !...... I always HATED Champion spark plugs, I dunno WTF Dodge was thinking, using them for most of their vehicles? Going on the cheap side to save a few bucks maybe. Found way too many of them cracked on the ceramic part. Had a '73 El Camino, my ex drove, every 3+ weeks, she complained of it running bad. I used AC Delco's on it all the time. After around 3 times of her bitching, it ran crappy again, I happened upon Accel plugs at the auto parts store. For $2 more, I figured I'd try them for a change. After that, the El Co, ran fine for like 9 months, and she never griped about it running bad hmmmmm. I decided to pull the plugs for chits & giggles. Well, they were fine, and burning good, so the car just needed a hotter plug !

Po305, misfire#5. The other codes should relate t that directly. Po300, random misfire. Low cat efficiency, can be from the excess fuel cooling it off.

I would almost bet that the other shop had the plug out and maybe dropped it and closed off the gap. Makes you wonder why they did 1 plug and not a full set on a high mileage engine...

4591250 Blue EGR Seal on the back of that intake. I’ve sold sooo many of them through the past years, at the dealership I work at.

We had a Chrysler 300 with a misfire that was caused by one tooth off on the right side cam gear.Reset the timing marks,someone else replaced the timing belt and the misfire was gone

I've talked to a couple of 3.5L Magnum owners who had over 300k miles on those engines.

How does the oil look, that efficiency code could also be from running past oil change interval, as you say it has had a hard life, and likely oil is also overdue for change as well.

Hi Kenny,was the heat range and brand the same?it looked like a hoter plug you put in,with the very long extended center.I would think they have to be that way because the head chambers are of a type to keep emissions lower??The pattern on the ceramic was one one side,also.I'm very interested to see how the new scanner works out,it seem doable and useful.

If it hesitates, the computer may be leaning out the mix because of the load nin the exhaust bfrom the miss.

Hate it when other people don't do their job properly (That's why I do all my own maintancce then there's only one person to blame).As with the scanners yuo work with they don't work on Australian vehicles so we have to purchase country specific ones.Cheers.

Just curious, why didn’t you power brake the car to confirm misfire before taking anything apart?

They took it to one shop to get it fixed for a misfire and then they take it to another shop here to check for a misfire. The first shop should’ve checked everything says they had it open already. Why would they just work on one few injector and one coil without checking the others why they have everything apart, what a save the customer down time and money
