I have been a Catholic since birth and this is the first time I heard this argument for Mary @ 1:01:54. It is very enlightening. For years I always hear these arguments from Protestants and this is the kind of answer I should have known from the very start. I never heard this kind of teaching from a priest before. Fr. Altman was right when he said the Catholic church has failed miserably in teaching the Catholic faith to it's people. I heard so many homilies but most of them are just reflections of the priest. We need homilies that digs down on theology of the Catholic faith and not just the feel good sermons. I want to thank both of you for this video. I really appreciate it. In an instant I suddenly look at Mary in a different realm. She is indeed blessed are you among women. She received that role not because of her own doing, it was given to her. Protestants should not hate Mary because it was given to her by God that special title and role.
@Tony-cm8lg
@Tony-cm8lg 10 месяцев назад
Yeah I agree, the homilies have dipped heavily to the “this is the world we live in and this is how the Gospel applies” camp instead of unpacking the deep theology of the Scripture. I think both are important, but the theology should take center stage. Developing a deeper understanding of the Scripture will actually help you live life conformed to Gods will, but if you are being told how to live your life by the priest then you miss out on the understanding as to why you should live that way. If that makes any sense. Read St.Augustine’s homilies on the Gospel of John, he goes super deep into the Scripture but also addresses the concerns of his time. But he is always going back and unpacking the theology.

John Bergsma shared about works and salvation like this: we're in a boat, the Holy Spirit provides the wind. We can put up a sail and travel a great distance with the wind. If not, we stay put and drift. The Holy Spirit provides the power and direction, we just catch it. Sin is like a hole in the sail, the more serious the sin, the greater the hole. Our works are putting up the sail and maintaining the sail.

@@KeithNester can you ask this Karlo guy the question I had asked you a few months ago regarding Peter and Simon? My position is the true church never taught auricular confession with priestly forgiveness. Christ taught the sinner is to ask God directly for forgiveness of his own sins (Matt 6:12, Luke 11:4) Peter taught (commanded) Simon to ask God directly for forgiveness of a mortal sin. (Acts 8:18-24) Therefore, all Christians can ask God directly for forgiveness of all sins without any priest/bishop. CCC 1456 states that mortal sins MUST be confessed to a priest. Yet Peter commanded and taught the exact opposite, so either Peter taught error and therefore making catholic pope not infallible, or Peter taught truth and therefore making Peter not catholic and the catholic church guilty of teaching error. The catholic church invented auricular confession, even the CCC states in 1447 that Irish during the 7th century came up with auricular confession, therefore proving that it did not exist from the teachings of the apostles. That proves the catholic church invents new sacraments hundreds of years after the apostles layed down all the necessary laws for the church to follow. Adding and subtraction from God perfect Word is unlawful, so the catholic church is condemned for teaching error. Early church writers never wrote about this subject for a long time. The catholic misinterpretation of John 20:23 is misapplied because as I have shown, there is absolutely no biblical proof of it and the true meaning is about the great commission Christ commanded His apostles, to teach and baptize to have peoples sins forgiven. That is the church reconciliation to the world first and foremost, then just as Peter taught Simon, after baptism you must repent and ask God directly for forgiveness. Get your buddy to deal with this, because I think I heard him say something along the line of the catholic church taught complete truth from the 1st century.

So true
@jeremiahong248
@jeremiahong248 2 года назад
@Kelly Curran. The following is from Steve Ray - being saved the bible way. Catholics fulfill every of the requirements from the bible. Protestants don't check every box. So who is being saved and who is not. How does one receive salvation ? By believing in Christ (Jn 3:16; Acts 16:31) By repentance (Acts 2:38; 2 Pet 3:9) By baptism (Jn 3:5; 1 Pet 3:21; Titus 3:5) By the work of the Spirit (Jn 3:5; 2 Cor 3:6) By declaring with our mouths (Lu 12:8; Rom 10:9) (my comment - this is Confession) By coming to a knowledge of the Truth (1 Tim 2:4; Heb 10:26) By maintaining the faith (Col 1:22-23; Mt 24:13) By continuously doing good works (John 5:28-29; Rom 2:6, 7; James 2:24) ( my own comment- we need to let the fruits of the Holy Spirit take place by doing good works. But many Christians through their own free will choose to remain addicted to sin. This is why Jesus say you can call me Lord but practise lawlessness (not doing good) cannot enter heaven : Matt 7:21-23 Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’) By grace (Acts 15:11, Ephesians 2:8) By his blood (Rom 5:9; Heb 9:22) By His righteousness (Rom 5:17; 2 Pet 1:1) By His cross (Eph 2:16; Col 2:14) Consuming the true presence of Jesus in the Eucharist John 6:30-40. (My comment - Jesus says to gain eternal life and be raised on the last day, we need to eat His body and drink His blood. But Protestants disobey this. Can we cut any one of these out of the list and proclaim it alone as the means of salvation? Can we be saved without faith? without God?s grace? without repentance? without baptism? without the Spirit? These are all involved and necessary; you can't have one and miss out the others.)
@jeremiahong248
@jeremiahong248 2 года назад
@ Kelly Curran. Protestants will ask you next about salvation and works. Catholics believe 1. that we are saved by Christ and Christ alone. There is only 1 mediator - Jesus Christ. Catholics believe we are saved by Jesus alone. 2. that Catholics don't earn salvation through good works. Salvation is a free gift from God. Nothing that we do can earn this gift, which is freely given through God's grace and no work we do can earn this salvation. This is what INITIAL SALVATION is about - earned entirely through God's grace and not through human works. This is why Ephesians 2:1-9 first started recounting our sinful lives and then subsequently saying it is by grace that we are saved and not by works. Same for Gal 2:16 which also points to the gift of initial salvation. 3. Once we accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, we must continue with good works to merit eternal life. Good works proved that we are saved, worthy of being saved and we need to continue to be justified, growing in justice and righteousness. Rev 2:10 ask us to be faithful until death and the crown of life shall be given. We are forgiven and declared righteousness by God at the beginning of our Christian life. This is the same position Catholics and Protestants hold in common. God wants us to grow in righteousness over the course of our earthly Christian life. This means doing good works. This requirement is found all over scriptures: A. Gal 6:7-9 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. B Phil 2:12 continue to WORK OUT your salvation with fear and trembling C. Matt 13:36-37 Jesus ask the young man who wanted eternal life to do good (=keeping the commandments) “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.” “Which ones?” he inquired. Jesus replied, “‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother,and ‘love your neighbor as yourself. D. Romans 8:1-14 St Paul tells us we must be Christ like and continue to live our lives in Christ to do good works that please God "In order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit." E. Gal 5:19-21. There is no guarantee that anyone who has accepted Christ will proceed to live a model Christian life otherwise scriptures will not be warning us. "The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God." F. Romans 2:6-7 God will reward those who performs good works God “will repay each person according to what they have done. To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life" G. Romans 3:28 says faith and good works go hand in hand : "For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law." H. James 2:17 " In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead." I. James 2:24 "You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and NOT by faith alone" J Matt 25:31-46 Jesus shall separate out those who do good works vs those who don't. Those who do will go to Heaven. "Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me." To summarise : Catholics hold the same belief as Protestants in believing Initial Salvation is a free gift from God. No good works can earn us this gift. After we enter into Christ, we must do good works so that we can be growing in righteousness, and not the lukewarm water that Jesus will spit out in Rev 3:16. Christians need to continuously be justified over the course of our lives in accordance to the requirements of the scripture verses above. It cannot be assumed anyone who enters in Jesus will automatically do good deeds. Those who don't risk losing their initial gift of salvation as these scripture passages have shown.

The sooner we realize that a properly formed conscience isn't merely a matter of intellection, the sooner we'll understand that people's religious allegiances and affiliations aren't about head knowledge alone. The heart is as involved in our faith commitments as is the mind. Apologetics is necessary but not sufficient to bring one to faith in Christ or into one community over another. Having said that, I like to say that apologetics is to the gospel what John the Baptist was to Jesus Christ--makes the way clear of prejudices, misunderstandings, etc.

In my evangelizing experience as a layman, I find that the easiest way to answer protestants questions is to answer them directly from scripture. I believe that our Catholic problem is that we aren't fluent in quoting scriptural responses. Protestants believe their position or practice of faith is based on what the bible teaches. When in most cases I believe their faith is based on bible verse one liners, and their interpretation of scriptures. Perfect example being the Brothers of the Lord question., James, Joses, Simon, and Judas. Which is from Matthew 13 : 55, 56 "Isn't this the Carpenters son? Isn't Mary known to be His Mother and James, Joseph, Simon and Judas his brothers? Aren't his sister's our neighbors? Where did He get all this?" ... This question is a valid Protestant question when using the bible verse one liner approach. But when answering I have found that there are two possible lines of thought on these brothers and sisters of our Lord. The one line of thought comes from our Church Father's, and the other from St Jerome the first person to compile the bible into one book. The Church Father's believed that Joseph, Jesus' earthly Father was a widower and they were children from that marriage. And Jerome claimed to believe that these brothers and sisters were from Mary, the wife of Clopas. In John 19 : 25 we read "Near the cross of Jesus there stood His Mother, His Mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas and Mary Magdalene."...... Thus Jerome believed them to be cousins as opposed to being actual brothers and sisters. .....In this John 19 verse we read "His ( being Jesus') mother's sister Mary the wife of Clopas." ..... John tells us that Mary (Jesus mother), and Mary (Jesus' Mother Mary sister) wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene we're all present at the Cross at the crucifixion of our Lord. In Mark 4 : 1 we read "When the sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Salome brought perfumed oils with which they intended to go and anoint Jesus." Both schools of thought are possible these Brothers and sisters could be Children from Joseph from a previous Marriage and him being a widower. As well these Brothers and sisters could simply be cousins. The word used for Brothers at the time of Jesus had three different meanings, the word used here in the original language could have meant "Brothers, Sister's, or cousins.". When Mark 16 : 1 speaks of Mary the mother of James and Salome, if this was the Mother of Jesus, Mark would have said so. In Matthew 13: 55 we read the names of "James, Joseph, Simon and Judas.". This James could be the same one referenced in Mark 16 (who is also referred to as James the less) which In my opinion might support being a half brother of Jesus through Joseph. Or it could simply be that Mary Wife of Clopas is simply Mary's cousin, which too is a reasonable option . In John 19 we Know His Mother Mary, is referencing Jesus, mother Mary. And that "His mother, his sister's mother Mary, wife of Clopas" (who too could be mother of James and Salome) are not the same woman. And in what family does a parent (besides George Foreman) give two children the same name? It just don't happen. Thus supporting the cousin theory. I know this is confusing but in short we should as Catholic be well versed in scriptures so that we can are least present our truth to our Protestant Brothers and sisters.

The Holy Scripture proves beyond a doubt that catholics cannot interpret Scripture very well, their little man made magisterium is a complete fraud and is leading souls to eternal damnation for their error. Proof that Peter was not a pope, that the church was not built upon Peter to begin with: Isaiah 28:16 Therefore thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; Whoever believes will not act hastily. Psalm 118:22 The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone. Now we find not 1 but 2 Holy Spirit guided apostles affirming these passages applies to Jesus Christ as being the very stone (rock) foundation which was prophesied about, and actually became true. Paul wrote in Ephesians 2:20 that the church is built on Christ as the cornerstone. Cornerstones are layed first, then all other stones are layed according to that first corner stone. 1 Peter 2:6-8 Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture, “Behold, I lay in Zion A chief cornerstone, elect, precious, And he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame.” 7 Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who [a]are disobedient, “The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone,” 8 and “A stone of stumbling And a rock of offense.” They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed. So that right there proves that catholic popes and bishop don't know how to interpret Scripture, let the apostles interpret them for you! We see apostles claiming NOT Peter as the churches foundation, but Jesus Christ as being the very rock foundation alluded to in Matthew 16:18. So that destroys the catholic denomination completely! Catholics are just like protestants, built upon lies of the Devil. Catholics lie every time they claim to be the one true church. Catholicism came AFTER the true church began, a couple hundred years after.

"And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Matthew 16:18 Notice that Jesus said 'church' (singular), and not 'churches' (multiple) in that verse. Do you believe that Jesus Christ founded only one Church and promised that the gates of hell will not prevail against it, meaning that it will last forever? If you answered 'no' then you are firmly entrenched in John 6:66 simply because you do not believe He who said it. "Amen, amen, I say to you, he who enters not by the door to the sheepfold, but climbs up another way, is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is shepherd of the sheep." John 10:1-2 The sheepfold represents His Church. Are you in the sheepfold, the one Church that He founded? Or did you 'climb up another way' by entering a church founded by a mere human person? Do you believe what Jesus said in those two verses? "I do not pray for these only, but also for those who believe in me through their word, that they may all be one; even as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. The glory which thou hast given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and thou in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that thou hast sent me and hast loved them even as thou hast loved me." John 17:20-23 What part of the word 'one' is simply not understood by so many? Do you agree that there is only ONE true Church that Jesus Christ founded? "He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters." Luke 11:23 Are you 'gathered' into the one Church that Jesus founded? Or are you scattered among the other 40,000+ sects not founded by God that call themselves Christian? Those who do not follow His words, 'that they may be one' are those that scatter. Aren't those who left Him in John 6:66, scatterers? "Jesus said to him: I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father, but by me." John 14:6 Do you believe Him when He said, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life'? Do you believe that He is the truth? If so, why are you not in His Church? "You search the Scriptures, because in them you think that you have life everlasting. And it is they that bear witness to Me, yet you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life." John 5:39-40 You come to Him by entering His one Church, the only Church with God given authority to speak in the behalf of God Himself. . "So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats me will live because of me. This is the bread which came down from heaven, not such as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live for ever." John 6:53-58 Those within His Church know Him because He is really present in the Holy Eucharist which is not a symbol by any means. Anywhere in the above text, is there even a hint of a symbolic gesture? Aren't those who eat what they are taught is merely a symbol of the real Body of Christ akin to those fathers who ate of the symbol and died? Aren't they subject to become a member of Club666? "And I will ask the Father and He will give you another Advocate to dwell with you forever, the Spirit of Truth WHOM THE WORLD CANNOT RECEIVE, BECAUSE IT NEITHER SEES HIM NOR KNOWS HIM." John 14:16-17 Who are those who are called 'the World'? They are those who refuse to believe what He said and are therefore members of Club666. "He who does not love me does not keep my words; and the word which you hear is not mine but the Father's who sent me. These things I have spoken to you, while I am still with you. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you." John 14:24-26 The first part of the first sentence sounds remarkably like John 6:66 where some of His disciples would not keep His words either and ended up walking away from Him. Would not you agree? I would say that these verses reinforce John 6:66 by adding the words 'He who does not love me'. "But when the Counselor comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness to me; and you also are witnesses, because you have been with me from the beginning." John 15:26 Are you truly witnesses to ALL of what Jesus had to say to us or do you reject some of it? If you reject 'some of it' then you are truly entrenched in Club666. "I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you." John 16:12-15 Does the 'Spirit of Truth' really dwell in your sect? If you believe He does, then how can you explain the differences in supposed truths in over 40,000 different sects? "But if thy brother shall offend against thee, go, and rebuke him between thee and him alone. If he shall hear thee, thou shalt gain thy brother. And if he will not hear thee, take with thee one or two more: that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may stand. And if he will not hear them: tell the church. And if he will not hear the church, let him be to thee as the heathen and publican." Matthew 18:15-17 Which Church, His Church which has all truth or those human person founded sects which only have some of it? "And other sheep I have that are not of this fold. Them also I must bring, and they shall hear My voice, and there shall be one fold and one shepherd." John 10:16 That one verse expresses the theme of this entire page. Are you one of the sheep who are not of His fold? Jesus is pleading to us by saying I MUST BRING His 'other sheep' to His ONE FOLD and ONE SHEPHERD. Those who are not in His ONE FOLD are not listening to Him and so are firmly entrenched in the 666 Club. "Jesus said to the twelve, "Do you also wish to go away?" Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life;" John 6:67-68 Do those verses say it all to you??? If so then we all must belong to the ONE FOLD with one Shepherd and have eternal life, or be forever a member of Club 666. The choice is yours!😉😉

As Greek scholars-even non-Catholic ones-admit, the words petros and petra were synonyms in first century Greek. They meant "small stone" and "large rock" in some ancient Greek poetry, centuries before the time of Christ, but that distinction had disappeared from the language by the time Matthew’s Gospel was rendered in Greek. The difference in meaning can only be found in Attic Greek, but the New Testament was written in Koine Greek-an entirely different dialect. In Koine Greek, both petrosandpetrasimply meant "rock."If Jesus had wanted to call Simon a small stone, the Greek lithoswould have been used. The missionary’s argument didn’t work and showed a faulty knowledge of Greek. (For an Evangelical Protestant Greek scholar’s admission of this, see D. A. Carson, The Expositor’s Bible Commentary [Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 1984], Frank E. Gaebelein, ed., 8:368). Beyond the grammatical evidence, the structure of the narrative does not allow for a downplaying of Peter’s role in the Church. Look at the way Matthew 16:15-19 is structured. After Peter gives a confession about the identity of Jesus, the Lord does the same in return for Peter. Jesus does not say, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jona! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. And I tell you, you are an insignificant pebble and on this rock I will build my Church. . . . I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven." Jesus is giving Peter a three-fold blessing, including the gift of the keys to the kingdom, not undermining his authority. To say that Jesus is downplaying Peter flies in the face of the context. Jesus is installing Peter as a form of chief steward or prime minister under the King of Kings by giving him the keys to the kingdom. As can be seen in Isaiah 22:22, kings in the Old Testament appointed a chief steward to serve under them in a position of great authority to rule over the inhabitants of the kingdom. Jesus quotes almost verbatum from this passage in Isaiah, and so it is clear what he has in mind. He is raising Peter up as a father figure to the household of faith (Is. 22:21), to lead them and guide the flock (John 21:15-17). This authority of the prime minister under the king was passed on from one man to another down through the ages by the giving of the keys, which were worn on the shoulder as a sign of authority. Likewise, the authority of Peter has been passed down for 2000 years by means of the papacy. Petros vs Petra Jesus spoke aramaic not Greek. The Aramaic leaves no room for the Petros/Petra distinction. In Aramaic the work for rock is Kepha(rock) and upon this Kepha(rock) I will build my church. Why does the Greek use two different words? because the Greek word for rock is feminine. The translator gave petra a masculine ending and rendered it petros. Petros was the preexisting word meaning "small stone". The Greek text is a translation of Jesus' words, which were actually spoken in Aramaic. Aramaic only had one word for rock, kephas (which is why Peter is often called Cephas in the Bible). The word Kephas in Aramaic means "huge rock." The Aramaic word for "little stone" is "evna," and Peter was not called "Evna" or "Envas" or anything like that. In Aramaic, Jesus said "You are Peter (Kephas) and upon this rock (kephas) I will build my Church." The metaphor worked well in Aramaic where nouns are neither feminine or masculine, but in Greek, the noun "rock" was feminine, and therefore unsuitable as a name for Peter. So the Aramaic wordKephas was translated to the masculine name Petros when it referred to Peter, and to the feminine noun petra when it referred to the rock. In ancient Koine Greek, petra and petros were total synonyms, unlike modern Attic Greek and unlike Ionic Greek which was about 400 year before Christ.😆😆 Christ is the Corner Stone not the Rock His being the chief corner-stone of the Church Isa 28:16 1Pe 2:6,7

Kurt, your comments reveal that you just don't understand. you have a one sided, predetermined bias that prevents you from seeing the truth. I will pray for you.

@@KeithNester why can't you deal with what both apostles Peter and Paul affirmed? They affirm Jesus Christ WAS the one prophesied about, He was the one the very foundation was layed on first and foremost. It's clear cut teaching, one has to side with Satan to reject what these inspired apostles affirmed multiple times. It's you who needs praying for before you are eternally lost for not being part of the one true church. By not refuting this, you prove that you have no logical answer. The apostles interpret the meaning for us, so that proves your man made pope is a liar and all catholic priests and bishops are liars. But get someone who can respond to this because I am claiming no catholic can logically defeat this argument, because I didn't invent the argument, Jesus Christ affirms is in Matt 21:42 And two apostles affirm this argument. So this is the catholic denomination against Christ and His apostles.

@@biblealone9201 in Matt 26:26 Jesus and His disciples were eating, and He broke it and gave it to them and said "take, eat this is My body" so tell me, was that literally Jesus's real present body He commanded His disciples to eat and drink of grape juice before He was actually sacrificed? Yes or no? Hebrews 10:14 tells us Christ was sacrificed ONE TIME! He has made PERFECT FOR ALL TIME! So that proves you catholics don't know how to interpret Scripture! Read the Bible for what it says! Blood is forbidden by the way, old and new testament, to drink real blood. So by you stubborn catholics claiming real blood and flesh, you sin! One time sacrifice buddy, not millions. Christ is always in heaven reigning as king over all, He isn't coming down until judgment day comes. So stop lying to me and to yourself. Peter said Christ is the prophesied foundation, Peter nor anybody else in scriptures claims Peter was the foundation. Stone =rock so you can't defeat the scriptures.
