Honestly, I typically explain to people that I do not necessarily have problems with very personal questions, it's just that some people decide that the really personal type of questions are perfectly fine to ask as the absolutely first one.

Same for me, except I’m pre-HRT (ftm), a minor, and only been out for 2 years. Usually my sexuality phases passed within a few days to a month (as a reference for how quick my identity phases came and went). Idk, but I’ve resolved my sexual trauma and my identity stayed, so I guess that’s a win

I'm genderfluid but originally thought that I was a trans-girl and I've transitioned slightly so far (but probably wanting to transition more in the future). Nowadays I only call myself trans when it feels relevant/correct.

I'm agender genderflor, and I consider myself trans because my identity never really fluctuates towards my AGAB. Technically genderfluid is a subset of nonbinary, which falls under the trans umbrella, so you can call yourself trans if you so choose. I do because I relate to the experiences of other trans people, and face similar challenges.

@@joshuanorman2 Yea! It also makes things easier on my friends. We live in an area that is generally unsupportive of LGBTQ+ topics, so we often have to use our deadnames and birth pronouns. I always feel bad when I call them something that is incorrect. However, they dont have to worry about deadnaming me, so I hope that gives them some relief 👍

I likely wont be coming out to my parents anytime soon though. I'm planning to do so when I move out, which will likely be sometime after college. So, I have at least 3 more years ahead of me. The main thing is, most of my family is extremely Christian. I do care about my family, they're good people, just stuck in their ways and living in a republic, conservative area doesnt help. I dont want to lose my family but not coming out isnt an option for me, just waiting till it's safe

I'm also demi femme. I know that technically I'm a type of trans, but I don't call myself that because it feels like I would be appropriating a struggle that really isn't mine.

I'm the aforementioned afab demigirl that identifies as both enby and trans haha. For me, when I first came to terms with being non binary, I hesitated to call myself trans because I didn't experience a lot of body dysphoria(mostly social), I didn't want to medically transition at all, kept my birth name, etc. Basically, I didn't think I was trans enough and I was almost scared to call myself trans, which internalised transphobia definitely played a part in, as well as truscum mentalities that you have to experience dysphoria to be trans. But the discomfort with being called a girl and being seen as one was just too much, plus I definitely felt more neutral most of the time, so I got more and more comfortable with the label, knowing that it's about personal choice than how others see you, if that makes sense? Definitely not saying that's the case for other enby people who don't identify as trans, this is just my personal experience :)

I’m not a parent, so I can’t say from experience, but what I’ve heard from others is that it can help to allow parents and others who knew you well as your previous gender a “mourning period” to mourn the loss of their “daughter”. But then they should also realize they are gaining a son. I know it’s probably annoying and frustrating to hear stuff like that from your dad, but it could help him to get over it faster if you tell him that’s okay and valid to experience missing his “little girl”, but just like everyone else (including cis people), you’ve grown up and are a different person now, it just so happens that part of your growing up is being trans. And while he may have fond memories where he perceived you as his “daughter”, it’s not that you want him to forget the fond memories, you just want to make new fond memories as his son going forward. Maybe it could help a little, but either way, good luck!

My little brother was the most obvious egg ever, I wouldn't be too surprised if he actually had known for some time and was testing the waters. My favorite was "I want to go on T, but not like...because I'm trans. I just want to confuse people about my gender." Anyway, yeah, I kept it to myself for the next year before he came out to me, besides switching to "my little sibling" and such online when talking about him. I once considered telling someone they might be an egg. Before you get alarmed, I didn't. But they're actually quite old and might have been trying to confide in me about gender stuff and for a brief period I considered talking to them because what if they die before realizing? Then I decided that death comes for us all and we don't know when. But I wonder about that person all the time and hope they're alright and that they might find what makes them happy.

@@kavitadeva I believe it’s a different way to say Non-binary femme! It means that, while you go by they/them and prefer to be referred to as gender neutral terms, you physically portray in a feminine/female way and are comfortable in a female body.

@@chuuchuuutrain Their mom thought there was no sign of them being trans rather than cis, but there was a major sign- they cried when leaving the house because they did not "pass" as the gender they identify as (so other people will see them as the wrong gender, the one they were assigned at birth rather than what they identify as). I guess I have a similar sort of experience because I didn't really feel uncomfortable being gendered female even after coming out as agender for a while and then dysphoria suddenly hit me like a delayed freight train a while after when i was still hearing people call me 'she' (even though at the time I used all pronouns) like I was a girl, so maybe it's a thing of not feeling super uncomfortable with it just because people didn't overly highlight it so you ended up thinking of it as gender-neutral in your head? (I'm probably not explaining well but that was kinda my experience with it)

I'm a trans guy, and before puberty I didn't mind being seen as a girl, I just didn't think about my gender too deep, I was busy having fun as a kid lol and I didn't have any knowledge of trans people. In middle school after puberty started I began dressing more masculine, and began to hate feminine clothes. I also had a phase of hating pink stuff but I'm over it lol I didn't realize I was trans until I was like 16. I'm 18 now. I wish you well on your self discovery journey

From my own experience as a trans guy, who struggled a lot (and still do) with being a guy because of all the hyper toxic masculinity I wouldn't say not liking being grouped with guys is necessarily a sign of not being one. But for me, I know that being considered one makes more sense than anything else, even when I hate it. If it doesn't for you, I would say it definitely is a sign and thinking you're trans when you're not is actually much rarer than the opposite :) But in the end, only you can tell who you are and thinking about what you need/would like gender-wise instead of how to identify could also be helpful. I'm sorry you had to go through it and wish you the best ^^

It's interesting you say that cuz I'm autistic (AFAB) but I don't like being referred to as a "woman" - not necessarily because I associate negative things with the word, but I just don't feel like that word describes me. As I've gotten older, I like being called a "girl" less and less too, but that could just be an aversion to being infantilized. Idk, it's hard to tell the difference sometimes between not liking when people use certain pronouns/gendered words to describe you because you don't identify with that gender as a whole, or simply because you don't identify with something related to that specific word. Or maybe you just don't identify with *some* parts of what you were taught about what it means to be a "man" or a "woman." To my neurodivergent brain, gender just isn't real. It's a made up concept and all the ideas about gender and what it's supposed to mean is meaningless because everyone has different ideas for themselves about what it means, and about what their specific gendered identity means. One man could have a completely different idea of his gender than another man, even though they both identify as men. So it just seems really strange to me that we still try to categorize and cling to this abstract thing

Yes definitely. I always knew there was something different about me but I wasn't really able to identify it until I was almost 36, before which I would have said I was comfortable with my gender. Knowing changed that, and I couldn't ever be comfortable as a man ever again.

It's so silly because there are literally **thousands** of cis men who have the same likes/dislikes as you (of any and all sexualities, not just gay). I really don't understand why anyone would ever ask "are you sure" about something like this, like what do they expect you to say? "oh you know what? I **hadn't** considered literally every other possibility before deciding to tell you, thanks for pointing that out.." 🙄 Also, I really don't think it's inherently unhealthy to consume media that you strongly relate to in some way. It could very well be a life coping mechanism for you, because you know that the character was very likely inspired by someone/something very real. 🤗

My experience is super similar, except that I present more androgynous rather than feminine typically (although to most people, they’d still most likely assume I’m a woman). And I feel pretty much the exact same way you do.

most gender neutral names were originally associated with one sex, or had different variations for each sex. alex was an abbreviation for alexander/alexis and eventually just became a popular name itself. my boyfriend is ci, and his birth name is skylAr, but spells it as skylEr because he prefers that spelling even though skylar with an a was originally a boys name and skyler with an e was a girl name. i do understand though, my name was strictly a boys name for a very long time, but now 98% of people with the name are girls. i also went to school with cis girls names michael and hunter! if i have another daughter i plan to name her tyler, but ironically enough i hate that name in regards to guys lol

I had periods exactly as you described, it meant a day or two in bed every month, even had a massive ovarian cyst that I had to have removed in an emergency surgery, until I had a Mirena coil fitted. Your mums right. Your too young to know for sure. However you do wat makes you feel happy. As long as when you go into your 20's after having transitioning....you dont regret it, detransition and blame the professionals for convincing them you were trans, when you weren't. Because too many FTM detransitioners are now doing this and it's just plain wrong.

Stay strong! I've had a similar experience coming out as pan. Imo, you need to just wait until you can move out and live comfortably on your own, that's what I'm doing. You could also explain to them how it works, because with super religious people they usually don't have any other experience with LGBTQ+ people but the things they were taught as kids (they're from the devil, they're just confused, etc.). But definitely make sure you have friends you can talk to and a good support system at school for when the transphobia gets to be too much.

My mom and dad (and basically my entire family) are the same. I'm a thirteen year old. I think your mom should support you whether it's a phase or not. Remember to stay strong! (as Nilla draws stuff said)

@@atlas3611 parents try to protect thier young from making huge mistakes in life. What you feel at the moment is real....but as we age we change mindset, opinions. The teen years are the most turbulent years of any persons life. As I said.....sometimes parents know you better than you know yourself. We have been through the teen years, it's a time of questioning who you are, finding your identity and it starts at puberty. So dont hold it against yr parents for trying to bring you up without harm. The fact they question your judgement, should tell you how much they love you and want you to grow into a strong, secure, happy independent individual. Parents get it more than you will ever believe or understand. You will one day, especially if you have children yourself. The pitfalls of teen years a very very confused self discovery maze to navigate through. This is not invalidating how you feel...its about supporting you to making sure your not creating a mistake that you could all regret in time. Your sure now....but that might just change as you grow. Then again it might not. But parents have to protect, if that seems they are denying you...they aren't. In fact by questioning your mindset, their actually testing you, making you question yr decisions, so the decisions you make are true to your inner self. Parents parent. Its thier job.

i've never actually seen this question, but i think they just haven't realized that you need a uterus to have a period. surprisingly even most biological women don't know that all a period is, is when the lining of your uterus sheds as the result of an unfertilized egg. when pregnant your uterus doesn't shed because it is what forms the placenta, which is why pregnant women don't have periods. (so if a woman eats the placenta after giving birth, she is eating 8-10 months of menstrual blood.) so it definitely would be a medical concern😅

@@Sam-zu5mr I wouldn't say it's harder to transition mtf or ftm either way. It's different. I guess there is more hate against trans femme people cause deep down every transphobe knows we are women and they are mysgonists.

The question was after having hormone treatment I.r. testosterone, does the menstrual cycle still continue?.....the only people to answer this question is trans men and doctors. Hense why I'd imagine people ask this question in the first place. Personally I really dont care to know.

Honestly, it 100% depends on you. I do feel like a lot of people would feel relieved and happy when people use their real name instead of their deadname, but euphoric is a big word 😅 But you don't HAVE to feel a certain way just because someone else did. You'll figure it out yourself if you want people to call you by a different name and they use it 💖 Personally, I do feel a bit more happy when someone uses a nickname they made for me (I'm not sure about my gender identity yet as I honestly don't identify with any of them) instead of my birthname

When I told my friends to use a new name on me, it did make me feel euphoric when they said it, because it just felt right. But it depends on you as a person, to some it can feel weird for a bit because that’s not what your used to, and that’s perfectly fine!!

For me, it depends on who says it, and sometimes (when I’ve felt like I wanted to have a different name again) it has felt kind of off but everyone has different experiences and I’m sure I’ll find the name for me eventually :)

I haven't fully transitioned yet. Some people use my preferred name and it gives me a sense of relief and it's more comfortable than my real name. Like breathing after holding my breath.

You can consider yourself whatever u want but if u do have g3nder dysphoria ur trans and if u dont, ur not trans. Some nb people do it for trend and others have some different mental issues and they self diagnose themselves

Yeah there is a rule book to be a trans you have to have g3nder dysphoria and to be nb u just need to say youre nb. Thats the difference
