@More Plates More Delts the bible has several books in it, each of which have their own chapter numbers. so if you say "i'm on chapter 4" it makes it obvious you weren't actually reading it, because if you were, you'd specify which book (matthew, mark, luke, john, etc.).

The way he tells his stories draws you in so much you almost forget he's a comedian and gonna hit you with a plot twist you should have seen coming but didn't. It's a gift

Growing up in a strict Pentecostal Christian household, every parent had this same story. It's meant to inspire you to read your Bible so you'll appreciate a gift greater than money. My own grandmother would give us money but never accept it in return, to the point that she would be offended if you tried. So she would find a random $20 bill in her Bible that she read pieces of every morning, but she had to accept it because she never knew which grandchild returned the cash to her. This joke gave me nostalgia and made me laugh so hard at the end.

Never, ever, assume that you can guess how an Anthony Jeselnik story will end, no matter how good you are. All this time I was expecting him to find a $1000 cheque from his grandma stashed in the Bible, if he would just have bothered to read it like she asked him to. But no, this punchline is a hundred times better. Way to go, grandma!! Jeselnik is the absolute grandmaster of misdirection.

A bit surprised at the amount of people who first heard this story from Kevin Hart. Thought the money/allowance in Bible that the student/kid never opens was a fairly popular lesson parents liked to tell over and over again.
