Dragon's blood sap has the highest known ORAC value of 2,897,110 giving it 6,000 times the antioxidant power of vitamin C, 800 times that of CoQ10, and 550 times that of vitamin E. Just as a comparison, Blueberries have an ORAC of 4,669 and turmeric 127,068. The second highest is Astaxanthin with an ORAC value of 2,822,200.

it pisses me of that hospitals here in the uk have such shitty food. I lost both my parents to cancer and the food in the hospital was probably doing more harm than good. The kitchens should be considered as a medical department. Where the hell do they think most of the antibiotics come from in the first place!

This is so true. Every thing in the UK is considered a profit cow for politicians and their pals. Facts. I spent a week in hospital with covid and the “food” was basically 50% sugar in nearly everything. They told me they had lactose free milk but gave me processed sugary soy milk. Every joghurt had spoons of sugar in. It’s dispicable

Hi, thanks for sharing it, I didn't know half of this list. Recently I found out there's a test that checks the quantity of antioxidants in one's own saliva. It's called Lelolab. What do you think about it?

@@crazycat6600 Okay that list is actually depressing. Many vegetables have hardly more antioxidant content that quite some meats. It's mostly the spices and beries that have a lot of antioxidants.

eat plants, not animals. ok. understood. but what was #1 out of the 3,139? am i the only guy who was waiting for it? ... or maybe there's a terrifying reason he's left it out of the vid. maybe it's something really weird or funny or contradicts the first 4 words of this comment. we may never know.

Crazy Cat thank you the list. While looking at herbs and spices, what is the quantity of each item, and why are the same items, in the same form (ground, for instance), so vastly different depending on country of origin? I wonder if Dr G could answer these questions.

I've been foraging for years but have rarely found any nutritional information on any of the wild species I consume on a daily basis.... Any idea if this data is being researched by any studies/organizations?

Hi, Jay M! It doesn't really work that way, that one food is best for neutralizing oxidants in the endothelium. Your best bet is to eat a variety of whole plant foods that are rich in antioxidants, and to make them the center of your diet. Humans are Omnivores, it's not a question of whether we should be only eating meat or only eating plants, because plants don't have rich source of proteins with all the essential animo-acids that our bodies cannot produce, and neither the meats don't have sufficient antioxidants which are necessary to keep us from aging and developing chronic diseases and cognitive impairments. Both meat and plants are essential, not to mention the special groups of vitamins and minerals that are pretty much mutually exclusive in between meats and plants, like that one study from the National Institute of Heath that concluded: "Previous reviews have indicated that vegetarians and vegans may risk vitamin B12, vitamin D, iron, zinc and calcium deficiency as these micronutrients can mostly be found in animal foods or have a lower bioavailability in plant foods."

2:40 more like 4 times as much. Technically, 0.43 goes into 1.43 about 3.79 times. Also gold kiwis have thinner skin and hardly any hair, making them very pleasant to eat whole (like an apple, skin and all). Way more vitamin C too!

The study's results were evidently skewed since there was a gross disparity between the mean and the median, which is suggestive of an outlier in the plant foods skewing right. This is also very evident when you look at the max for the plant based foods.

Just downloaded this study in its entirety. THEY DIDN'T TEST ACAÍ BERRIES!!! Honestly, I'm speechless. They tested Bud Light, Gooseberry Syrup, and Snickers, and leaves from an African Boab tree, but not Acaí. Biggest science fail of all time.

Getting lost on the chart, what is SEM and some others(will just look it up)? You think they make up these numbers to adjust the market for new foods or drinks? lol@beer being #5 in the USA. We are not surprised. Kind of like how most americans skip fiber and goto coffee, I had fiber at work, no one knew what it was, kept asking me, except one guy.

@DevilChao5 Have you actually researched things yourself? Or have you only followed the "research" of others and decided that because a person said all meat is bad, they must be right? That seems to be what most science is these days, and that is why medicine development is starting to slow down. You are so trusting of other people. If you think B12 is all you miss out on, you had better keep "researching." Protein, iron, amino acids, as well as other things are needed from meat.

When I can afford it, I'm still going to be getting my B12 and omega 3's from Atlantic mackerel. Since I'm already calorie-restricted, I'll get any bulking protein from chicken. The rest is all berries and cruciferous. You can keep your spinach and kale!

Curious .Kid Yeah! Plant foods may be rich in antioxidants, but meats are rich in inflammatory cancer-causing IGF-1! And let's not forget the essences of putrescine and cadaverine, that give meat eaters their signature fragrances. :P

SomeDorkStoleMyName not all meat is bad for you, the quality significantly varies depending on how much humans have tampered with it... Everything under the sun (no pun) has been blamed carcinogenic, and garlic and cruciferous vegetables smell terrible and give you way more flatulence than meat does

@mobilediesel All the foods made for us by God to actually be eaten have lots of good things in them. Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables with some healthy meats such as chicken is a good way to go. Obviously there are different reasons to eat "animal based foods" compared to greens, though. You will miss out on several things by just eating plants. The really unfortunate thing is how hard it is to obtain food that isn't altered or corrupted in some form when you go to the supermarket. :\

Plant-based diet doesn't mean that you eat only veggies, but that your diet is based on veggies (90% of it), while you still can eat meat, dairy, eggs and fish...just stay away from processed food (sugar, junk food, etc.) :)

@@keen2461 processed foods are very unhealthy primarily due to their sodium content. But both processed and unprocessed animal products contain something worse than sodium, saturated fats
