Yes, it's almost strange to see so much of my life go by when life around me isn't changing that much, and I can say that as a musician who played professionally in the 70s and 80s, hearing the same tunes, back then analog, albums, the same music becoming cassettes, and then discs, North Americans still paying rock royalty royalties, even if the musicians themselves died a long time ago.

Depends on what you don’t consider being “worth that much”…but in reality…anything from the early 60’s..in original shape is literally breaking the bank. An early 60’s Stratocaster or Telecaster are in some cases reaching into the $25K - $30K range…in fact, a recent report indicates that musical instruments from this era has outperformed both art and the Dow..in the last two years. My dad had this exact guitar. He had it from the mid sixties until his death in 2001. My mom sold it for $8,000 in the original case which had crushed velvet burnt orange lining , but she could have gotten $12,000 if my dad hadn’t painted it after he got it. What a load of horse apples! $1,300 to have it shipped. Actual shipping with insurance should have been $75 to $100 each way. Now as to the price of the guitar...more horse apples! Probably would bring $2,500 to $3,000. The Fender Bandmaster amp brings $1,500 realistically. If you look at the actual selling price on Reverb instead of the listing price, you are at $5,000 grand for the pair total.

It's one of the early blackface chassis in a blonde cabinet, not nearly as desirable as the earlier brownface amps. Guitar Center is a huge ripoff so that amp price is too high. That Jazzmaster, though, looks to be a real keeper.

Re: shipping. Some dealers only sell amps for in-store pickup because of the complex damage exposures tube amps have in shipping. The solution involves foam board all around in addition to tons of bubble wrap. Gets to be a pretty big box if you want a Bandmaster in it. Probably three boxes. It went both directions shop-to-shop, no person-to-person. The agreement was to pay all the shipping both ways, so $650 each direction. Almost certainly insured for $10-15K both ways. I got my grandfather's handmade early 20th-century cedar chest shipped with high-assurance damage prevention packing. Bigger than a Bandmaster, but still cost me $600 about 10 years ago, $800 in 2019 dollars.

He was right on the value on the amp. But a beat 1964 jazzmaster cost between 10,000-17,000$. I noticed the look on the gentleman's face when he said 6000$. I don't think he fully agread on what he said.

You can ship a les paul, across the country, with insurance for 250, he got poked at the post office. He probably hired a shipping company.

I bought a64' Goya at the Hell's kitchen flea market in NYC about 5 years ago for $100.00 Got to the UPS place and they charged me $125 for the box, packing peanuts and shipping to Nashville. Didn't insure it. I have no idea how you get to $1300, that's the amount they tack on to CARS for delivery.

Valuation of the guitar is probably because it’s not mint perfect, but the amp looks great for something that old.

A 1964 candy apple Jazzmaster with matching headstock for $6500? Gimme a break. That guitar is worth twice what it was appraised at. You could put it up for sale for 10k and it would sell immediately

My father bought a 60,s Fender Jazzmaster when I was 4 years old and sold it for $200 , made him happy because he didn’t loose any money on it. Now he’s 70 years old and kicking himself..By the way , I can’t stop kicking him either !!! 😂😡

1,300 shipping???? Wow, did someone walk it both ways??? I can see collecting the guitar for a wall hanger, it was bottom of the line in 64. The amp is a very cool in its own. I'd value it higher than the guitar. Grunge in the 90's made this guitar famous. They bought it in the 90's for the same reason they did in the 60's ...price was/is much less than a strat or Tele.
