I accidentally used some brown butter w sage for a shortbread cookie and it was actually pretty damn good! It has become a regular in my lineup since, sometimes we dip them in blackberry compote if we have berries growing at the time.
June literally makes me so happy. I'm buying groceries to try and cook because of her, and any time I need some positivity I just watch her cooking shows. Love you June!
It is such a simple concept, but I have never thought of dividing a cookie dough recipe and making more than one kind of cookie with it. While I am pretty sure some of June’s more radical combos will not be used, I definitely will use the divided dough idea. I kept waiting for the hot sauce version to appear. Poor Aaron.
If you keep whisking the butter sugar mixture until it's very smooth ... You get homemade caramel that you can layer on top of homemade popcorn. I do it all the time and it is delicious
Tried out this recipe tonight and the cookies are delicious! I kept it simple with Chocolate chips, pecans, and a dash of cinnamon. As promised the cookies were crisp on the outside and delightfully chewy on the inside. 🍪❤️
I don't bake cookies so had no idea that some of the goodies are reserved for toppings. Makes sense! I'd be all over those goldfish/popcorn cookies...I think. 🤔👍
The are people on the internet who you wish to be, Others that you never ever want to see, And those who are just a blessing from the gods, June would be one of those people.
I love cookies for breakfast. I love white chocolate chips and dried cranberries. Sometimes I use dried pineapples and mangoes. Your cookies look great!
*So glad you explained the benefit of cooking & browning the butter. I also partly cook any nuts (like walnuts or almonds) used & add twice the amount of good vanilla. Those 3 things transform an ordinary cookie to fabulous gourmet!!
Wow, you guys are a different breed. My whole family grew up doing an accidental tradition of slamming pounds of Halloween candy in two weeks. Me, my sisters, brother, mom, and dad have all done it. We aren’t unhealthy, I guess we just have big sweet teeth. I never understood how people save Halloween candy and have it left after more than a month!
Anyone else watch the early episodes of Naked Chef? June in her own kitchen gives me that vibe. DELISH, give June a raise, and JUNE you should have your own show.
I was a little scared of the junk food junky one at first, but when I saw them come out of the oven all beautiful and brown I thought.”fuck, I would eat that.”
Making these today with the addition of pretzels salted caramel chunks and pecans. Thinking sweet salty crunchy. Never used melted butter in my cookies so we'll see how it goes
Hi! So sorry, it looks like our site is down. Here's the base dough in the meantime: Basic cookie dough: ½ c. (1 stick) butter ¼ c. granulated sugar (52 g.) ½ c. packed brown sugar (104 g.) 1 tsp. your choice of ground spices, extracts, or flavorings ¼ tsp. Kosher salt 1 large egg (46 g.) ½ tsp. Baking soda 1 ¼ c. all-purpose flour (160g.) 1 to 1 ¼ c. your choice of chopped mix-ins Preheat oven to 325° and line a baking sheet with parchment. In a medium pot, melt butter. If desired, continue cooking to brown butter, about 5 minutes: Reduce heat to medium low and continue cooking, watching closely and stirring occasionally. Butter will simmer and foam, and milk solids will start to turn golden brown. Once vigorous simmering stops and butter is golden and smells nutty, immediately remove from heat In a large bowl (or in your pot), whisk together hot melted butter, sugars, spices or extracts (if using), and salt until sugar is mostly dissolved and mixture is smooth and shiny. Let cool slightly, then whisk in egg until smooth and combined. Fold in flour and baking soda until just combined, then fold in mix-ins until evenly distributed. Scoop heaping tablespoons of dough and transfer to prepared pan. Bake until edges are golden and tops are set but still blonde, 11 to 14 minutes.
Hi! I loved the video, the dough, the baking process, everything :)) However, if I decide to make one giant cookie as a mock birthday cake, what are the modifications that I will need to do to the original recipe?
I honestly can't say because I haven't tested it as a cookie cake! My guess is, depending on what bakeware you're baking in, the bake time will probably double, give or take 3 minutes.
