Final 10 minutes of the approach and landing at Leeds Bradford Airport in June 2019. The video starts at about 10.000ft altitude, just before entering a nice cloud layer. Therafter you can see us being vectored for the ILS runway 14 at Leeds Bradford Airport. This ILS approach has a 3.5 degree glide path angle and there's a steep upslope hill at 2-3 miles before the runway. Runway 14 has a displaced threshold and the runway has an Landing Distance Available (LDA) of 1802m and a runway width of 46m.
Enjoy the video!

It surely does! Initially autobrake and also manual braking, the B737 has good braking performance. Also the upslope helps a bit as well.

Landing runway 14 at LBA as shown in this video tends to be the slightly more tricky approach as the angle or glidslope is steeper due to the chevin hill, plus the landing distance avai is abit less than landing runway 32. It would be far better if they moved back the touchdown zone on runway 32 for extra runway length and if at all possible on runway 14 as well.

@Bulletguy07

@@markfox1545 The past couple of weeks have been warm for sure, but hardly cloud free skies! As an example of what i mean, i used to fly regularly between Switzerland and UK. Only on the rare occasion did i fly during a cloudless day and get a clear view of UK. Think seriously about it.....it's simple logic. We are an island so experience island weather. Switzerland on the other hand is land locked and regularly gets clear blue skies.....even in winter. In fact it's quite easy to get sunburn in winter there if not used to the sun.

LBA has a pretty standard length runway for the uk, in fact its actually longer than both bristols and lutons, but the trouble lba has is alot of the time crosswind, a touchdown zone on runway 32 thats at the highest part of the runway and landing 14 the glideslope is a little steeper

Did i see max autobrake? I noticed that those 738's seem to have trouble slowing down/descending at the same time without speedbrakes
@AviaView
@AviaView 2 года назад
Yes it was initially set MAX Auto Brake but you see we elected to change it to Auto Brake 3 on final approach. I don't know the exact reason in this video but I think it was either because of the wind or runway condition (dry or wet). Also this aircraft is a Short Field Performance (SFP) aircraft and these aircraft have indeed more trouble of slowing down compared to the regular NG package due to flaps/slat sequencing being different. Shortly it means that the slats are not fully extended until flap lever is set beyond flaps 25. Less drag results in less speed reduction with a SFP aircraft, so you will need the speed brake sometimes.

What's the spinny thing?
@AviaView
@AviaView 3 года назад
That’s the stabiliser trim wheel!
@KurtMCox
@KurtMCox 3 года назад
@@AviaView Why is it spinning? Excuse my lack of knowledge.
@AviaView
@AviaView 3 года назад
@@KurtMCox No problem. The stabiliser are those 'small wings' near the tail of the aircraft. The weel is spinning to indicate the movement of the stabiliser when it's being trimmed by the autopilot or ourself. We use the yoke/control column to put the aircraft in a certain flying position but it gives a lot of extra forces on the yoke/control column. By trimming we can remove these forces and keep the airplane flying in that attitude/flying position, for example climbing, descending or level flight. Everytime we or the autopilot trims the stabiliser to remove the force, the wheels will spin. The autopilot does it automatically, as pilots we use those two small switches on the right side of the yoke/control column as you can see in the video. In emergency situations we can do that manually with a small handle on the side of the wheel but that needs quite A LOT of force.
