I first invested over two years ago; enough to qualify for the 5% discount, and I have always understood the statistical odds of Aptera's success. But with every interview, every podcast, I feel more and more confident that they are truly on the cusp of fulfilling thier world-changing destiny and starting the solar evolution revolution. I believe I will be driving my lower number Launch Edition by this time next year, that "Launch" is the right word for the first Aptera, and that our investments will reap satisfying rewards. Thanks Steve. Drive on. And on and on and on...

Yeah, this was an excellent interview, because she was upbeat and asked all of the right questions, plus Chris had really good answers. For the charging, Aptera said that once their onboard charging system is finalized and working then Aptera can submit the design to Tesla for approval. But one point is that because of Aptera's super efficiency they should be able to use Tesla's (or other J1772/Level 2 destination chargers) across the country for charging up to 57 miles an hour. It is not a road-tripping solution, but could save you in a pinch (along with the 6 MPH peak solar assist).

Aptera makes two appearances in the movie, Atlas. The first is at approximately 0:01:43, right after the Isaac Asimov quote. The second at approximately 0:08:25, right after she leaves her apartment with the ICN officer (two angles).

I don't think any company needs Tesla's permission to use "open" superchargers. If Tesla wants government money for chargers, they can't gatekeep whatever stations they get grant money for. Anybody with the NACS port or adapter should be able to charge.
@DrTeeHenry

“Should” and “Can” are two different things. I can charge my Chevy Bolt at a Tesla destination charger (with an adaptor) or at a Supercharger with the Magic Dock (I’ve done both), but not (yet) at a regular SuperCharger station.

I think the expansion to Dallas Texas area would be best for Aptera. Not only Texas got all the sun 🌞 but also hail storm during winter in Northern Texas areas. So it'll be good spot for Aptera to further develop the toughest solar panels and glass for mass production vehicles. Also I think she's hitting on him. Well, Chris is cool though know how to navigate the interviews.

@robertd9850

Instead of trickle charging, it would sound better to say something like the sun "tops off the battery when the car is parked, up to an extra 40 miles/day." Paints a better picture I think. Also I think it is important that every time the term solar powered is used, it should be gently corrected to solar charging. Solar powered makes it sound like the car is running off the sun in real time which of course, it isn't.

The Chinese already made an adapter to use with the Tesla superchargers in Europe so CCS to Chademo. They will also make a NACS to CCS. Or Aptera will make CCS Mennekes standard for Europe.

at the 18min 50sec mark he says...." will get us to production in the next 9 months", I've been researching previous videos and interviews, and it appears that since 2007 they have been saying production will start in the next 12 months or so. Some break inbetween when fambro/anthony left, but still the same old story.......next year production will start. Next is the 20th anniversary of Apteras inception, thats a bit long to be promising production will start next year, is it at least possible this is a damn good money spinner even if production never occurs? Perhaps it is in their interest to not ever produce this car, that way the really hard burden of production is never achieved but the money roles in anyhow, string it along with promises of production next year? At what point will they be held accountable for these promises, as the promises are what gets the money rolling in. To put it another way: how long do you think they can keep raising money without producing any cars for sale? Another 5 years.....maybe.......another 10 years.....probably not.....another 20 years?.....unlikely......

@@danielthompson3928 It is rather interesting. Electrek published a summary a week or so ago on Aptera recent SEC Offering memorandom ( 30pages on 30th May, 2024), some very interesting information in it. It is amazing that 100 million can be raised on a "promise" of producing something, I can now see why Elon Musk is the richest man in the world. This is a huge amount of money without anything produced for sale, but it also depends on an almost equally huge amount of money still required to get anywhere near production. Unfortunately Chris Anthony is ducking and weaving in questioning rather than giving honest direct answers.......that is a bit of a worry. Someone acting more like a politician in interviews in a bit worrying.

Aptera is going to need to work hard to make sure they release some version at the $25,000 price point, because with the Chevy Equinox EV and the KIA EV3, we are getting full size cars that offer to start at a $30,000 price point. Despite the technical advantages of the Aptera, I don't believe enough people would choose it over an identically priced full sized vehicle.
@fotoguru222
@fotoguru222 Месяц назад
How many do you think is “enough people”? Aptera has said they only need to sell 6000 per year to break even. They don’t need to match GM’s sales volume to win friends and influence people or to make a big profit.
@johnmalcom9159
@johnmalcom9159 Месяц назад
The Kia EV3, the Volvo EV SUV, and the elephant in the room, the Tesla Model 2, all in the market in 25/26 will appeal to the middle class family that need more than two seats and are looking for a low to moderately priced vehicle to enter the EV market. The GM Eclipse may be just outside of the price range for this group. Certainly motivation for Aptera to hold the line on pricing. The Tesla Model 2, if really around 25K, and with market prestige, the biggest threat.
@billsmith5960
@billsmith5960 Месяц назад
@@fotoguru222 - Aptera has said lots of things and I put little credit into the 6K to break even number. For the Aptera community, if Aptera says something, it's 100% true until they change the numbers. Then the new number is what will be repeated over and over again.
@fotoguru222
@fotoguru222 Месяц назад
Low cost EV model configurations from any manufacturer are almost always available only years after the expensive loaded models become available. Of course the same will likely be true for Aptera. I wouldn't expect the base model of Aptera to be available before 2027. I also don't expect a low cost Tesla on the market before then. Nor do I expect it to be sold in North America.
@fotoguru222
@fotoguru222 Месяц назад
Of course you can theoretically get a new Chevy Bolt EV for under $20K today. But I wouldn't want to use one for a road trip given its slow charging speed and low range. Other low cost EVs will have simillar limitations.

@billsmith5960 Месяц назад
When crowdfunding, you have to say the best case scenario. Even though that's theoretical, it's a common tactic. Plus, there's no real standard the solar industry has to adhere to, so there are some characters out there which can say what they want. Yet people will believe it because they want to believe it.
