Thank you so much for your work!!! Thanks to this video, it was possible to launch OpenCV on Python!!! Also downloaded and copied 4 dll files to a folder. In the program itself (OpenVisionControl), you can run the edited script "scriptexample.py". It prints the required fields to the file "out.txt" (the name can also be changed in the script). First choose a script in menu "Python->Choose Script", and next "Python->Sart".

Great job Chris!!! I'd like to put your software to work with my robot, it's working with a cam from CMUcam5. There's a way to make your software get the directions from an arduino? Because, the CMUcam5 sends the positions to a variable in arduino.

It might be possible, I would think you would have to create a new function to open serial connection to the other arduino. Is it possible for your controller to output to other than arduino?

Chris Annin I guess it's possible to put the serial communication at the same arduino that is hosting your program, but the question is, the AR2 Software is available to get the variables with some modification? I'm sorry it it's a stupid question, but I'm begginer on python.

I’m not sure I would have to do some testing I would think you would need to open up a serial connection to a different arduino not the same one running the Robot

What do you think about Emgu or Aforge as an alternative to Roborealm?

I'll have to look at Aforge - I havnt seen that before. I definitely want to build integrated vision support using Open CV - Im wrestling with what to do next. I want to add G-Code support, add integrated vision as well as a few other updates.

It’s possible, I’m not too familiar with automating soldering or how accurate it would need to be. It’s most suited for material handling. Are you thinking robot would bring the iron to pre-soldered connections?

You know I'm not too sure. I work at a circuit board manufacturing facility and am thinking about various potential uses for this arm. I've been showing it around and trying to see I can get any department to find a use and begin testing. It seems very versatile and I would hate to miss the opportunity to bring such a machine to the factory floor.

No not currently but one of my future goals is to build a better vision interface and in the future who knows maybe I can set up line tracking
