@popeyegordon
@popeyegordon Год назад
While we are making up wishes, why not just demand a 500 mile range and one minute recharge? My FUV has over twice the range I would ever use. After 10 months I only ran it down to a 30% charge once. A full decade ago the science consensus made it clear that long commutes and trips in personal vehicles are no longer sustainable. I will use a bus or a train or just not go, rather than stealing more than my fair share of resources from future generations. I drove an ebike for 7 years as my only vehicle before buying my FUV. There is no national repair shop chain for EVs at this time. This fact highlights Arcimoto's cleverness.

The hotel industry should be a test market i.e the hotel acts as a rental company for short trips in vacation areas; although Arcimoto may have to provide the out of the box platform (billing etc) to the industry or use a SaaS product. Remember, stakeholders are the people that buy an Arcimoto as well. Throwing $500,000 in and hoping is not the same as taking the leap and buying a vehicle. I have had 4 hybrids. 2 Priuses-new. 1 Toyota Rav4 hybrid-new. 1 Ford C-Max Energi Plugin-used. I like the Hybrids because of no range anxiety. The Smart Car by Mercedes sold but like the Leaf, people got frustrated. More range means more money plus weight. People have to make intelligent choices. People need to look at their lifestyle. Subaru just came out with an expensive electric. 229 mile range for close to $50K. Okay it is safe. But it is a niche product. A young man driving a Dodge truck drove into our 2021 Toyota Rav4 Hybrid, a $40,000 vehicle. All the air bags dropped. The car was totally demolished. We survived with whiplash, cuts, bruises and did our own therapy at home. No suit. He had no money. So safety is a huge issue with us. In Florida, there are deadly accidents due to carelessness and stupidity. Thank you for all you are trying to do. I have completely lost money on the electric car space. I will look closer at yours and maybe get one and chat it up. I do like Aptera and Canoo too. I wish you all the very very best!!!!!
@EleanorPeterson
@EleanorPeterson Год назад
This comment is not about finance or investment, but about the FUV in general. I've seen quite a few questions (from get-rich-NOW investors, not actual owners and users) about its manoeuvrability - in particular its turning circle, lack of power steering, and how easy it is to park. Well, I've not driven one but it's a trike with wheels, not tracks or skis, so I expect that it turns just like any other wheeled vehicle. It probably helps if you're an able-bodied adult. If you're not, consider buying something with the appropriate adaptations for whatever restricted movement issues or disability you're living with. Don't expect it to be cheap, though. When I started driving conventional cars, none of the first three had power steering. None of them had servo-assisted brakes. You turned the wheel to go where you wanted, and pressed the brake pedal to stop. You crept backwards into a parking space or parked parallel to a kerb - sometimes on a slope - with a combination of peering in your mirrors, twisting round to look over your shoulders, and 'driving'. If you couldn't do that, you - quite reasonably - failed your driving test. So you went away and practised until you could handle a vehicle properly. Nowadays people seem to expect to have to make no effort whatsoever. EVs are absurdly expensive and confer 'special' status on their owners, who expect manufacturers to have taken all the crude, nasty, boring aspects of driving - such as 'driving' - out of the equation. Vehicles are loaded with cameras and sensors so that drivers don't have to use their own eyes and senses. "I'm rich and civilised, so driving should be effortless." Yikes. Entitled or what? So now we have the ludicrous situation where people expect a bike to be self-balancing, and a trike to turn on a sixpence with no steering effort from the driver. And reversing is strictly for the lower classes. In their fantasy billionaire world they've been brainwashed into thinking that cars should (literally) come when they're called and then (also literally) drive themselves. Good grief, grow up. If you can't cope with moving a steering wheel to make a 3-point turn to park or change direction, then you're not fit to be on the road, buddy. Surely reversing is part of the US driving test? What happened to, "And now, in your own time, I'd like you to turn the vehicle to face in the opposite direction with the appropriate use of mirrors, the handbrake, and forward and reverse gears"? Claiming that delivery drivers have a really tough job that makes manoeuvring their vehicle in tight spaces incredibly challenging is fair enough if they're threading 40-tons of articulated lorry through obstacles or backing into a factory's cramped unloading bay, but the FUV is a tiny trike. Guys: It's. A. Tiny. Trike. Torque vectoring is entirely unnecessary. It's cool and 'futuristicky', though, so people are convinced that they can't live without it. Bah! Just because something can be done doesn't mean that it should be. Steer when you're on the move. It's kinder to the tyres (no scrubbing). I don't think many US people have a realistic idea of what 'cheap and simple' means when it comes to personal transport. It means compromises. It means making an effort, and not expecting £185,000 of luxury in the kind of road-legal buggy that sells in China for under a grand. Maybe the FUV should be called the UV, because a lot of investors clearly don't equate the act of driving with fun. I LOVE driving, but to some it's a tiresome chore because rich people don't drive - they're driven. (And I mean that in both senses.) As far as I can see, though, the FUV is already more than sophisticated enough to do what it was designed to do. It doesn't need any more tech. Leave it alone. It doesn't need questionably efficient solar panels or wings or the ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound. It just needs customers with realistic expectations. Lots and lots of customers with realistic expectations. Perhaps the 'give me labour-saving devices or give me death' United States is the wrong market. 🤔

@@moorewarner There is no direct controllable lack of production, there has been and is an ongoing pandemic/war economy affecting all industry globally. Within that framework Arcimoto ships as many orders as it is able to get the parts and materials for. The only factual long running trend is steady growth as reflected in these quarterly reports. We see steady continued growth during this challenge. At 31:30 Jeff starts talking about rentals and delivery fleets, a move that Segway tried. Segway even did tests with the US Post Office and military. THEN when the tesla needs a new battery guess what? even more Co2. So you in fact have a smaller carbon footprint by driving a 20 year old 1 ton truck then you have if you go out a buy a new tesla 3 #2 Electricity comes from somewhere and in most places that is coal and oil, So even a EV is not 0 emission, they are just emission some other place so that you can feel morally superior to others, get on your high horse and look down on other people like me who are realistic and who also understand how.... anything worksif they made a gas powered FUV i would 100% buy one because I drive 100 miles per day, But with the current FUV? I can't risk the trip with something that will only get 60 miles in the colder weather. #3 A gas powered FUV could be quickly built because there are many engines and drive trains that you could drop right in #4 many many many people would not/could not get an EV FUV for many many many reasons A: range in the cold climate B: Range in general C: Price, an EV FUV cost about $20,000 a gas powered FUV could be as cheap as $12,000 D: repairability, Anyone could fix a gas powered FUV, Almost no one can fix a EV FUV + You can't really sell EV's to countries that don't have the facilities to repair EV's BUT you can sell gas powered FUV to other countries So smart pants let me ask you a question, would you rather have a ton of people driving new cars back and forth to work that get 20-35MPG? or a new gas powered FUV that gets 60+MPG? @@popeyegordon I asked for a source, because your number seems way off. As for self discharge of Li-Ion Batteries, the amount varies with temperature and battery chemistry, but a rough rule of thumb: "For lithium-ion batteries, studies have shown that it is possible to lose 3 to 5 percent of charge per month, and that self-discharge is temperature and battery performance and its design dependent. In general, self-discharge is higher as the temperature increases." Using the larger 19.2kWh battery option with about 102 miles of range, that comes to 188Wh per mile. Now, 5% of 19.2kWh is 960Wh for one month or about 32Wh per day. Most people don't understand that a 100 watt solar panel does not produce 100W throughout the whole day. The output drops as the sun moves away from the panel directly facing the sun. The calculation looks like this: 100W x COS(angle). Rather than get into a lot of messy math, just accept that for most Southern California, we see the equivalent of 6 peak solar hours per day. Thus our 100 Watt panel produces; 600Wh in a day, but losses could be 10%, so 540Wh is a more believable number. 540Wh / 188W per mile = almost 3 miles per day. I'd have to have the exact measurements of the roof and sides to know how much solar could be installed on an Arcimoto.

The transportation industry needs to stop fighting momentum and start taking advantage of it. Flywheels are the simplest example to demonstrate the potential of momentum. Huge amounts of energy are expended in stop and go traffic. To simplify this concept so more people can understand it ill use a pre-loaded spring as an example. From a stopped position a vehicle could be sprung forward. During braking the vehicle could be adding to the pre-load of the spring. If most of the energy used in a vehicle comes from start and stop then targeting this one area specifically will have the greatest impact on milage. It would directly impact the size of the motor and battery required to accomplish your goals. It's called mechanical engineering. It's cheaper and more reliable than hiring a super jeenyus to design an electric motor with higher output and less input, or a battery that stores more energy and can charge/discharge faster, or designing brake roters that have better charging. Stop trying to make a bigger lightning bolt to fight momentum...momentum is your friend. It also has a greater environmental impact considering the toxic crap used to make these batteries, the reduced fuel consumption of a smaller combustible engine for hybrids, and less dependence on the grid and its infrastructure for charging. Now...use this concept to make something that resembles an actual car instead of trying to change the whole world's mind of what a car should be. These vehicles just feel unsafe no matter what safety rating you could ever achieve. A large vehicle is what people want because it FEELS safer so give the people what they want. I love my hometown of Eugene and I don't want to watch another opportunity go by while workers and their families suffer. I saw a microchip plant get sold off to foreign investors just before a chip shortage, a lumbermill and its timberland get sold to californians during unprecedented profits, and now we face loosing an incredible asset to our community in the transportation industry. I had to write this because I believe this concept could help this locally owned and operated business. I know from my experience working as a vacuum and semiconductor technician in silicon valley that many brilliant and talented people can get caught up in their concepts. Their so busy adding more to their designs that they over think it and miss the simple and obvious solutions. The most effective and reliable designs are the most beautiful because of their simplicity. My job required me to invent solutions and made me solution minded. I hope this concept will be read, repeated, and implemented so it has some chance of being a solution for arcimoto, it's workers, and this wonderful community that I love.

The power stored in a flywheel big enough to power a bus could level several buildings if it exploded by bearing failure or getting out of balance. Regen braking can be used for either flywheels or batteries but EVs are set up to be charged on 220 volt battery charging stations designed for batteries, not flywheel spinning. The market will decide the other issues and this isn't the fake market boom of stimi checks of 12-24 months ago. I will be shorting after the split. I wish them well as I am a local to them and as I've said I event rented one to test before purchase. Have you driven one, as an employee I assume you have?

@@D02rock When a loser plays the shill card, any and all comments from them after that will be ignored. Of all the billion RU-vid videos to post a lie under, choosing the one with the quarterly report documenting how wrong you are is the worst possible venue to choose. Opinions are fine and not my concern as long as they don't involve malicious intent like implying bankruptcy or delisting which can harm the company reputation. "The shill gambit is a type of ad hominem or poisoning the well logical fallacy, wherein one party dismisses the other’s argument by proclaiming them to be on the payroll of some company. Sometimes known as the Big Pharma Shill Gambit or the Monsanto Shill Gambit. The shill gambit is used fallaciously when the only “evidence” given of such a connection to a big company or government is the endorsement of the position of the government or company, without any other evidence-the implication is that they provide that endorsement only because they receive some sort of compensation from the company or other agency. On the other hand when such conflict of interest is both demonstrated by verifiable evidence and can be shown to interfere with a person’s judgement of the evidence, then it’s no longer a logical fallacy. Example - Clearly, anything the writer says about pharmaceuticals or GMOs can be dismissed because, even though I can’t prove it, they are obviously being paid by Monsanto and Big Pharma to spread the lies." This despite the fact that Monsanto shut down forever in 2017!!! www.skepticalraptor.com/skepticalraptorblog.php/logical-fallacies/shill-gambit-logical-fallacies/

This vehicle could be produced by any engineering department of any college in the world by teenagers(and probably a lot better at that). 74 sales in one year is a joke for a company that has been around for 12 years.All this vehicle is is just a glorified golf cart!
@popeyegordon
@popeyegordon Год назад
You are a very sour old fart posting hateful lies. Any college in the world is NOT staffed by teenagers, they are young adults who were 19 the first year only. The ten years of R&D by Arcimoto was essential to evolve a new class of vehicle that did not exist previously and they went through 6 prototypes. You lied about the sales, implying that was the only production when in fact they also made over 60 vehicles for the leasing, test drives and internal use. *THE COMPANY HAS ONLY BEEN AROUND AND PUBLIC 4 YEARS AND IS NOW IN ITS THIRD ITERATION OF THE PRODUCT* plus the tilting kits are seeing increasing sales every quarter. It takes a special kind of dishonst to post lies directly under the quarterly report that proved you wrong before you began typing. Look up the definition of a golf cart, which is not legal on public roads, and skulk away in shame.

You are correct. Their sales are all out embarrassing. $2M in sales and $19M in expenses for a total loss of $17M. It will take many years of crazy growth to overcome those expenses. Such a poorly run company.

YOU DO NOT LOSE A SINGLE PENNY UNTIL AND UNLESS YOU LOSE PATIENCE AND SELL BEFORE IT IS WISE TO SELL. Investing is a long term process, not a Las Vegas gambling experience unless you try to make it into one. In addition, I question the morals of anyone deciding they deserve a profit without doing a single second of work on the product assemly line. I didn't hear anyone speak about warranty costs. Are they coming down with improved quality or are they going up due to more vehicles on the road? How is the warranty work being handled in the recently added new states?
@popeyegordon
@popeyegordon Год назад
Each state has to have a trained equipped mobile service team. A map reveals the new states are grouped close together so a team can handle more than one state for now. The costs for that must be in the tables shown in the video somewhere as a kind of cash flow.
@bernesto2468
@bernesto2468 Год назад
Warranty costs in the last quarter were $202,000 as stated in the 10-Q. To put that in context it is 12% of FUV revenue for the quarter or $426 for every Arcimoto sold to customers since the beginning of the company (474) or $258 for every FUV produced (782).
