With all the problems we've been seeing with the current Team clutch on the arctic cat sleds, its nice to have an upgrade option. Cat replaced the Team clutch that has come on previous Cats with a new Adapt clutch on some 2022 snowmobiles. The new Adapt is a great clutch to upgrade your older Cat with and there are a few things you need to know to easily do the swap at home. We go through how to do this step by step and what parts you'll need to do it on your 2016-2022 Arctic Cat snowmobile with the Team clutch.

Very helpful, thank you. I have a very old cat but thinking of upgrading. One thing I don't understand: can you describe how the auto tension feature works? to me it looks like the secondary bolt you removed would normally act like stop for how tight it can close, and when you remove it the spring just applies constant pressure to the belt and the sheves force the belt up higher on the secondary, makign it tighter. This is only possible due to the idler on the primary; so the belt won't overheat. I haven't found a description of how it works. Does that make sense?

Do you know if the Adapt Clutch can be shimmed for optimum belt the sheave clearance? Ironically, both of mine are closer to .050 than the desired .020

Excellent channel. Can these be installed on pre 16 sleds? I have a 14 1100 turbo with the older clutch. Keep up the great content!

I am just doing the adapt upgrade now to a 2016 zr8000 snow pro. Here is what I have a question on. It looks like the 2016 clutch bolt (2623-180, 152mm long) is different than the 2022 bolt (1623-792, 157mm long) which is actually the bolt used on the arctic cat clutches (2014). The 2023 bolt (2623-308, 132mm long). I believe the small spacer/washer is 5mm. So if I figured this right Arctic cat wants a 127mm for length from the end of spacer to go into the crank. With the set of the team bolt and spacer from 2022 you are at 122mm so basically 5mm short which since you have been doing this apparently is fine. If want to get to 127mm deep with spacer you would need to take 5mm off of length. Stock spacer is 30mm long. If you want to make your own spacer they are 20mm OD x 30mm long (25mm if want same depth) with clearance hole for 12mm bolt. Thanks.

Are you not installing the damper ring on the new adpative clutch? I thought it was recommended even on the new adaptive clutch. Thank you for all your great videos!
@mountainsleddergarage8627
@mountainsleddergarage8627 5 месяцев назад
That is the question of the century. Cat has had that ring on there for many years. People have been taking them off for many years without any issues. If I’m building a lightweight sled I’ll take it off, otherwise I don’t go to the trouble of removing it. The clutch in the video was brand new out of the box and don’t come with the ring.

Thank you! I know it serves a purpose if you have an electric start on your machine as the ring is required, but I didn't see the reason behind the damper ring unless it was for some clutch weight thing. I didn't want to not install it on my new adaptive clutch if I was going to mess something up by omitting it. Glad to hear you didn't install it and have not had any issues. Thanks again!

Can you explain the additional things that would need to be done on a 2012 f800. Looking at getting the adapt for my sled. Currently have the big fin secondary.
@mountainsleddergarage8627
@mountainsleddergarage8627 Год назад
You would need to make sure the primary and secondary are aligned perfectly. You will also need a longer belt

What is needed to install this clutch on a 2013 xf800 procross? In detail? Really interested in getting one after watching your awesome video looks like it’s going to be a great clutch!

If you want to also update the secondary clutch to the Team clutch you’ll need a new jackshaft. You can you the stock 13’ secondary. You’ll need to align the clutches like the 19’ and newer alpha. Look it up in the service manual for like a 22’ alpha. You’ll use the secondary shim washers for your year to space the secondary clutch on the shaft. (#26 in the parts diagram) You’ll need to use the belt deflection shims in your secondary (part #29 in diagram) so the belt is tight at rest and rides high up in the secondary, like a new alpha. Link to parts diagram www.countrycat.com/arctic-cat-parts/#/Arctic_Cat/2013_XF_800_SNO_PRO_LTD_BLACK_%5bS2013XFHLEUSB%5d/DRIVE_TRAIN_SHAFTS_AND_BRAKE_ASSEMBLIES_%5b96878%5d/S2013XFHLEUSB/96878/y

Is there any belt changes you know of that will need to be done with the stock driven ? Also I was thinking of updating it to the team, Looked into it seen i needed the jack shaft and a oversized bearing in the chain case? Does it affect my sprocket or is it the same diameter splines and just a bigger bearing surface on the shaft? I understand I’m asking a lot but every piece of information helps !

Will this setup working on my 2018 thundercat ZR9000 998turbo?
@mountainsleddergarage8627
@mountainsleddergarage8627 5 месяцев назад
Yes, you can put an adapt clutch on your 18’ zr 9000. Make sure you get an adapt clutch from a current 998, I believe the crank taper on the 2-strokes is different.

Question, so remove the adjust bolt? It will self adjust??
@mountainsleddergarage8627
@mountainsleddergarage8627 Год назад
If you have a 16 or 17’ and put on an Adapt clutch, yes remove the adjustment screw and nut on the secondary and it will self adjust belt deflection. On the 16-17 you’ll also want to use the longer belt. Cat part number 0627-111

On the 16&17 what belt do you use
@mountainsleddergarage8627
@mountainsleddergarage8627 Год назад
You want a belt that will ride up about a 1/8 above the secondary at rest. Honestly your stock belt will work but not ideally because it’s not long enough to ride that high. Probably want the use the 18+ belt that came on the zero belt deflection clutches. 627-111 belt

No need for balance gear? If yes where it can be found?
@mountainsleddergarage8627
@mountainsleddergarage8627 Год назад
That’s the question on the century. Guys have been asking that question and taking it off for as long as Cat has been putting the plate on there. At least 10+ years. I’ve never seen a legit answer to the question. No one that I have ever seen has ever had a problem because of removing it and saving the weight.

Very informative. I’m in the process of converting my 17 & 18 over to the Adapt. Which weights did you install in this video; 58g or 60g? Also, are you running the balancing gear on either machine?
@mountainsleddergarage8627
@mountainsleddergarage8627 Год назад
Weights are dependent on your riding altitude. Here in utah guys are using either 56 or 58 cat weights.
@98xjroks

I’m also in Utah. I’ll do some digging to find out which is best between the two. Thanks again, I enjoy your videos.

The Edge Powersports says they have guys using 56 & 58’s here in utah. Have you already bought your adapt? I have a brand new one in the box set up with 58 grams weights if you need a whole clutch.
