I love how the first songs are WPSIATWIN all over again, then Fluorescent came and "got you there mate, here's some depression", then This House A Circus goes "nah jk love" only to end it with 505
I just love how humble they are compared to other bands that are like "yeah, we're on the fookin' top of the world. Our band are the best band since Oasis".. or some shit like that. The Arctic Monkeys are just lads from down the road who are like "let's make some good tunes, stay clear of the press and make friends with P Diddy". That's why I love them.
this song is so awesome... Curiosity becomes a heavy load, Too heavy to hold, will force you to be cold. And do me a favor, and ask if you need some help! She said, do me a favor and stop flattering yourself! How to tear apart the ties that bind, perhaps fuck off, might be too kind... this breaks my heart... he sings my life right there!
I wish he would sing with the style he did 14 years ago, instead of his style now. But I'm watching their concert this saturday anyway. It's going to be my first time watching them live. Oh I miss 2009 Alex Turner 🥲
I think they sound great now, and all, I love Humbug but... Do me a favour and play with the energy you used to play, like in Glastonbury 2007. That energy is what I miss about them.
@AVAFANATIC27 He's changed (for the better) and so has this song. It sounds more controlled and more personal whereas Alex is no longer a kid. He's a man.
@Renegademaster15 Kinda agreed with you all the way until the last paragraph. I don't think they were much better if any at Glasto. They were certainly more energetic but like you said Alex did sound a bit off live back then. Here he sounds much more refined and consistent. They haven't got the energy they used to have but now they've got cool little segments here and there, random improvisations and an air of mystery. I much prefer them like this.
@crackoish I know I do that for audio, not the actual video itself, because for some reason gifsoup doesn't accept this video, I think that means it's not downloadable.
@bowyer56 I wouldn't say that "i fucking hate" it but, yeah it's weak on the old song but great the old ones ... If only he could switch to the old voice some times ...
@juve9188 Well,he kinda lost that funny middle class accent which made his singing unique. This is still good but I preferred his earlier preformances of this song than this one.
@juve9188 He clearly does sing this differently from how they used to do this, he's a better singer then he was live before (he's always sounded a bit strange live compared to the recordings) However they've totally lost the energy of the song here, it's a lot slower and less involved I saw them during 2009 at Leeds Festival, and they were the most disappointing headliner I've ever seen by a long shot, they were ten times better at Glasto in 2007
the strokes are cool definitely but they always kept the same ideas, the last album was a bit different but for example, 'Whatever People Say I'm That's What I'm Not' and 'Suck it And See' are really different. You may not like either one or the other, but the point is that a band has to change and improve their music because that's basically music. Not like AC/DC that kept doing E G D A all the time....
@oiergasdn Boring? It's better. His voice before was more energetic and raw but it didn't always sound great, especially live. At Glasto 07 his voice didn't resemble the voice on their records. He's more consistent now and singing in a different way to fit the new songs. Something a bit more like his old voice would probably be better for the older songs though. I want A Certain Romance and Mardy Bum back :(
Such a shame.. must listen this song live I mean.. you have to be there with these guys.. these live version on youtube..none of them were better than the studio version... Such a shame.. such a epic song from a epic band
