Whether there are 30 000 Protestant denominations is in my view an exageration. They are micalculated. If we use the same calculation, instead of the one Catholic Church we would get about 20 different Churches, but there are many Protestant denominations which might be one of the problems for Protestantism. Lack of central authority, ignoring some parts of tradition and every believer being de facto its own interpreter in spite having pastors, exegesis and commentaries.

I don't know if that's what you said, but de iure, faith for Protestants is not a work. They say you don't need to do works to be saved, but de facto they need to do works because "faith without works is dead", "if you love Jesus, you need to keep his commandments" and "a sign of a true faith is producing good fruits". In the end, Protestant - Catholic discussion about faith and works will go in a circle

Actually Kent is 100 percent correct. And before u go crazy on me I'll explain. I was like u when I was younger, a catholic that thought the catholic church was the true religion. It was until one day in the middle of the night I had an encounter with christ that changed my life. I bought a bible and read it to discover that the catholic church contradicts the bible there is some truth but it's still not right. Please read the bible and see for yourself

@@vascoandrade333gmail Thank you for your response. It is because I read the Bible that I am know the Catholic Church was founded by Jesus Christ. Protestantism was never founded by Jesus. I believe you have may have made the same mistake the early Gnostics did. A subjective "experience" does not over-ride the teachings of the Scriptures or of the Church. Matthew 16: 18-19. Theres no where in the bible does it speak of the catholic church. If u want to read about the start of the first church read acts chapter 2. And let me know where it speaks about to worship Mary.

The problem is science use's big word's and theists think they are being tricked. Hovind knows and abusing this information so he gives what he understands a word to be normally not what the original large word was intended to mean. EG would be Hovind's version of evalusion (in an Hovind accent) and the actual meaning of evolution

No, Jesus did not make the Catholic Church, man did. Christianity isn't about hirocy. The Catholic Church believed the Pope is God on earth. No, man is NOT a substitute for God. Christianity is a personal relationship with God. It isn't about ideal worship.

They try to prove the Bible by the church (can accept the Bible only on the basis of the Catholic Church) and prove the church by the Bible ("has ever grounded her doctrines upon it"). Such is absurd reasoning which proves nothing. Either the New Testament is the sole authority or it is not. If it is the New Testament, it cannot be the church, and if it is the church, it cannot be the New Testament.

well the catholic church certainly didn't GIVE anyone the bible. they kept it hidden and in Latin specifically so no one COULD know what it says while they sold indulgences and manipulated the Word to suit their agendas. And by torturing and persecuting the people who did translate it so that it could be accessible by everyone. Peter was NO catholic. The CC didn't exist until almost 300 yrs after Peter.. and was founded by Roman Emperor Constantine ONLY to merge paganism with the growing Christian population as a last resort to maintain control over the population...

+creditwisela amen....and while all of that was going on, there where many groups of God fearing, Jesus following Christians being persecuted by everybody. Those same persecuted people passed the scriptures down from generation to generation. Catholics where not the only people on the face of the planet...I appreciate your comment.

I think you missed his point.....we don’t get saved by keeping the Ten Commandments. We keep the Ten Commandments because we are saved. A very big difference here. That’s what he was trying to say

Maybe that one particular church was a scam, but that does not mean that every church works the same way. There are more good churches out there that are more interested in your salvation than your money.

I'm sorry that you think that and I'm sorry that that church did that to you that your church did that but it's Christians we don't accept money from you it's not a scam we don't accept money from you. I still go to church but sometimes I don't have the money to put into the offering. But you know it's not a scam.
