Isn’t it a mutated space virus, also? The existence of a virus implies that there’s something out there that it infects. Something that’s either gone unseen until now, or else Deoxys originally evolved as a virus that infects Cleffa, Clefairy, and Clefable.
The Holy Grail yes they do. By definition viruses reproduce by infecting living cells(or other viruses in some very unique cases) and multiplying inside of them
But if you look at the Celebi in PMD, it's a Shiny Celebi. While it is implied to be unique in that universe, too, you can actually find a regular Celebi to add to your team that isn't Shiny. Meaning that even in the PMD Universe where for the most part each individual Legendary Pokémon is unique and powerful in some way, there must still be others out there we don't see.
Well Celebi travels through 1 single timeline, a multiverse would be a mutiple timelines so each timeline would have it's own Celebi. So actually no, there is most likely many.
Not really. You can catch multiples in lets go. So its established those birds are just very rare. But pretty easy to imagine they could still evolve regional variants.
I really like the idea of "every time an Arceus lays an egg a new universe is created". It explains the multiverse's existence beyond the normal rational. Also, as if we mortal humans would have any actual idea... The "egg" Arceus emerged from could be metaphorical.
Its possible that the ""egg"" might be the true arceus. In the movie we see arceus dimension and it strangely as the shape of an egg. If an ancient civilization was to see the ""egg"" birth arceus it could seem to them that arceus hatched from said ""egg"".
Nah, Arceus just makes multiple copies of Himself for every spawning alternate universe realities since the universe is diverging since in the beginning.
Pokédex says that Latios and Latias fly in flocks. Pretty sure a flock needs more than 2. Edit: hehe get fricked loser latest episode of the anime has 2 celebi's and they're differently coloured so they aren't the same one
@Team Stellar Plus Tobias had a Latios the trainer that fought & beat Ash in the sinnoh league.

To be honest, Pokedex isn't the most reliable source of information in Pokemon. It is even theorized that the player is who writes the information in the games; although Pokedex information ocould also be true...
@ The theory is debunked in literally every core game, by the professor telling you that the information is automatically filled in when you catch a Pokémon.
Super Sonic Duo Because the 10th - 12th movies are a trilogy The giratina in the 11th movie is the same one as from the one in the 12th Doesnt explain why palkia or dialga dont reconize him though
@@wikiuser92 I don't see how you are trying to disprove my point of the legendary beasts being able to literally be in both Johto and Kanto at the same time depending on where they are at at the time. Did you forget that Johto is literally connected to Kanto?
THEORY: There are multiple of each legendary, but there are the original's and the copies, the HG and SS Arceus isn't the OG the OG Arceus is like, mega strong, all the copies are weaker, the legendary birds on the island in the anime are the OGs and keep the universe from falling apart. The OG Palkia and Dialga keep the very fabric of reality in order, the copies can simply bend it. Arceus could have created copies of itself to keep people from seeking it out and fooling them, or it just wanted kids idk. This could also explain why a ten year old can capture THE DIETY OF TIME. The explanation is that they don't. This also explains the Galarian legendary birds trio, they're copies of the OGs that just grew up somewhere else lol.
plot hole has formed in this thought. i don't think pokemon has kept this lore bit of the legendary birds because the games never bring up this lore bit about the legendary birds. any more and what makes this worse. it could of been just taking liberties and making headcanon when there isn't. which is why i don't take game mechanics, or what the anime or movies say.
Well, the thing about the Galarian birds is that in their Pokédex entries, it is stated that these Pokémon only got their names because they very closely resemble the Kantonian legendaries. This means that they aren’t regional variants, but entirely separate Pokémon altogether.
@@jupitariandisaster4023 i was talking all the crap about the legendary birds keeping the universe from falling apart. it just sounds like a mcguffin bit just for ash to have a reason to save them.
Im pretty late but i remember in a pokemon movie hoopa summoned legendaries from the past, so maybe the multipe legendaries has to do with the same legendaries from different times that has been transferred to one time
I like to think that Arceus creates duplicates of Legendary and Mythical Pokémon once the originals are killed or captured. That way the duties of the absent Pokémon can still be fulfilled.
I think certain ones are unique, but most are merely extremely rare. The legendary birds in the movie(and that specific lugia) may indeed be special individuals within their species. Almost like champions that herald a great responsibility(protecting the orbs/ keeping the peace). They are intelligent enough to pass this responsibility down the generations, I think
@@arceusflute369 A book they released with the second movie actually said something like that, namely that the bird trio were larger and more powerful than other members of their respective species.
@@Ryodraco That makes so much more sense. It's more interesting that way, because now we can speculate as to why they're special(if it's inherent, or whether the power comes with recieving such responsibilities)

@@metalapplesus In Kanto Charizard was awake, but refused to battle, then went to sleep. Rowlet's sleep was a result of battle effort, and it awakened before the official end of the battle.
Also when you think of it, Mewtwo having ability to mega evolve, not to mention TWO mega evolutions, completely shatters the artificial Pokémon story, unless...... The mega mewtwo X and Y mega stones are artificially created mega stones
Diancie also has a Mega Stone, but what Diancie is is a specially evolved Carbink. Meaning the Carbink killed by the Ultimate Weapon could also have been forced into that mutation during their death, or the weapon itself mutated the Mega Stone to become one for Diancie. So Team Rocket can definitely create a Mega Stone on their own using Mew's DNA.
It’s been confirmed guys Legendary Pokémon ARENT unique There are now Regional forms for legendaries And the new legendary Kubfoo used to have multiple of his species

I’d say that the Original Story is probably referencing “world egg” myths. An egg from literally nothing that contains the entirety of creation is not uncommon.
I know this was *three years ago*, but it is HEAVILY implied that Koraidon and Miraidon have THOUSANDS of others inside of the "time machine". Let alone the fact that you can get two of your version's legendary (two Koraidon or two Miraidon in Scarlet and Violet respectively).

Have we ever considered the idea that being able to find legendries in games other than their home game would be a game mechanics over lore type scenario?
You shouldn't. Why? The Johto remakes, Heartgold and Soulsilver prove very well that GameFreak is aware that placing Ho-Oh and Lugia in the Hoenn region broke their previously established lore in Johto. Not to mention its appearance in Colosseum. And instead of ignoring it, they changed the towers to reflect it. The Tin Tower no longer exists, it is only the Burned Tower with no significance. Thus losing the connection to Lugia. The Brass Tower is now the Bell Tower where Ho-Oh is summoned rather than where it lives. So clearly GameFreak accepted the Tower Duo as no longer unique. And they kind of just ignored the Legendary Beasts lore entirely alongside that. Ho-Oh was hinted towards appearing in Colosseum because of the Legendary Beasts being Shadow Pokémon. Who also appear in Kanto ahead in time of when they are originally statues waiting in the basement to be awakened. Not to mention their appearances on Battle Frontier teams.
The FACT that Mewtwo in the 16th movie was NOT voiced by Dan Green made me SO upset for some reason lol. I guess I just see Mewtwo as this really regal pokemon thus should HAVE a regal voice. It's also why I don't really like Arceus in the anime either-the voice reminds me too much of Bill Cipher where it SHOULD sound powerful all knowing since you know it's GOD the pokemon.
The shiny legendary beast were actually zolorark. Also Hoopa's rings are actually a multidimensional portal so the pokemon he pulled out of them could have been from anywhere
I think the arceus being unique thing is cannon now due to the fact in legends arceus, arceus itself states that the arceus you receive is a "peice" of itself and not itself entirely, so all other arceus could also be peices as well
2:33 The 16th Movie Mewtwo IS a different from 1st film. As not only has a Mega Evolution, female voice, does not recognize Ash, but appears in Anime tie in Episode, (where Vergil is POV character), that this Mewtwo was created by Team Plasma scientists seeking to recreate Team Rockets plans for the original with their version. Where it was abused til it forcedably escaped, but unlike the original male counterpart, does not grow a hatred for humans. Just rather mostly well guarded or overly protective of others in response.
@@transendentemcorp nah, it was stated in the movie that the Mewtwo in Detective Pikachu was transferred from a lab in the Kanto region or something along those lines.
The Mewtwo from the 1st movie and the one from the 16th movie are different, the 1st one was made by Team Rocket (I think) and the 2nd was made by Team Plasma. Also they're opposite genders. (As for the one in Origins, that's an entirely different universe) As for the Zygarde cores and cells, they're all one pokemon just divided, the cells act as observers and the cores create Zygarde, then the cores fuse with each other into its different forms dependent on the level of danger
After the genesect movie, I’ve always assumed that multiple Mewtwos can be explained by scientists recreating the cloning experiment. Yes the team rocket scientists died and maybe their research along with it, but eventually someone will recreate the experiment. Like how multiple companies race to create cures and vaccines for the same disease.
I always held the idea that with the Pokemon deities the ones that you catch aren't the actual deity they're just like their "Avatar" for interacting with the mortal world and their actual form is often the multi-dimensional cosmos that humans can't understand more like traditional deities
this is supported later in Legends Arceus, where you can catch an Arceus, and he says that he's giving a fragment of himself to you, meaning that, whenever you catch an Arceus in DPPt through hacks, in BDSP, or get one from an event, it's just a fragment of himself
Here's my take on all the legendaries, considering both Game lore and a bit of anime to complement. I'll separate the 2 if they conflict with each other, also I have to mention that moves seem to follow a different lore from the main anime (hell the anime seems to follow a different continuity, at least 3 different ones). Legendary Birds: They aren't unique, confirmed by being in multiple appearances game wise and anime wise, some spin offs even have eggs. They seem to influence the weather to a little degree, but it seems that a specific Trio of them have a sginfinicant effect on Kanto. Mewtwo: It seems that in anime and in games there are at most 2 of them. One was the Team Rocket one and the second it seems to have been an attempt to recreate the experiment of Mewtwo, which resulted once again wrong. Mew: at one point there could have been multiple, now extremely rare. Legendary beasts: Originally created my Ho-Oh, there use to be a single trio but nowadays either, they reproduced, or Ho-Oh was jealous of Lugia's birds so it made more of them. Ho-oh and Lugia: In the games it seems that there are only 2 of them, thanks to the anime it seems they have the capacity of reproduction. Celebi: Likely one of them but it's multiple appearances can be explained by just being the same from another point of time. Regis: Made by Regigigas, it seems to have the capacity of making multiples. Jirachi: Singular Deoxys: Multiple, since it came from space there could be more. Eon duo: In the games it seems to be optional to capture them so they being in multiple regions can be attributed just traveling to different regions. However since in the anime they've shown to be multiple sets of the couple is likely is the same for the games. Weather Trio: Is likely they are 1 of each, the explanation on why they appear on 2 different regions can be attributed to the fact that capturing them in their games isn't mandatory so they just traveled to another region to rest. Raquaza being shiny and normal in the anime is explained by Hoopa's rings since they can travel through different dimensions. Lake guardians: Is likely there could be more of them, but until proven otherwise there's only 1 of them. Manaphy: it seems to be able to reproduce, to make more of them, but it usually makes Phiones, perhaps there can be only one at the time. Shymin: Multiple Creation Trio: Only one of them per universe, Arceus seems to be able to give birth to another one if it so desires, however this is likely done to prevent someone of capturing them and mess up the entire universe. Cresselia, and Darkrai: Supported by anime and games to be multiple each since they are counterparts. Heatran: Supported by anime and games to be multiple of them. Reggigigas: Supported by anime and games to be multiple of. At most there are 2 of them but there could be one for each continental plate of the Pokemon world. Arceus: One single entity across the multiverse, perhaps what we interact with is just an avatar. The entire fifth generation of legendaries sans Genesect: One of each. Lore wise and gameplay-wise there has been only one of each showcased and are always treated as individuals. Only in the anime Reshiram and Zekrom seem to be conflicting, this can and should be counted as a case of anime timeline =/= movie timeline. Genesect: Multiple but limited. Experiments of Team Plasma. Aura trio(didn't knew this was their name): Only 1 of them, Zygard is special case, but is likely that he monitors the entire world with Kalos it's main area of operation, it's presence in Alola is likely due to its unusual amount of Ultra wormholes. Diancie: Chosen among the Carbink. Hoopa: Could be multiple across the dimsions, only one per world. Volcanion: Little is know, could be more but until now is unique. Magearna: Unique, perhaps more can be crafted. Marshadow: Little is known it seems to there be only one. Zeraroa: perhaps one per universe. Meltan and Melmetal: Multiple Type: Null: confirmed to be at least 3 of them Sylvally: only 1, depends of player's action if there's more. Island deities: Unique Cosmog, Cosmoem, Lunala and Solgaleo: Multiple, they seem to guard the ultra space, likely one per universe but can reproduce to make more. Necrozma: Multiple across the dimension, only one per world.
But the majority of them can be obtained in its shiny form in thei games, that kind of feels like a proof there's more than one..... if you happen to catch the shiny, and no other exists in the multiverse...... then this should be its ordinary form, rather than a shiny variant
Speaking of which, u mixed legendary n mythical poke.. Also, victiny, Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza.. pretty sure multiple of them. Also doubt zeraora only one
I always thought the Legendary Pokemon were just rare, and the ones in the respective games were the true lore-based legendary pokemon. Like how we have legends and stories about many of our own creatures here, but that doesn't mean that exact species is super rare. Rather, it is referring to one individual in that species.
50 02 yea, I put this as a reply on another comment but here, “Maybe long ago in the Pokémon universe legendaries were common and weren’t considered legendary but over time most of them died out and only the strongest of their species lived so that’s why they are so powerful and rare”
@@OfficialEntertainnmentHub Once again you can literally make one out of thin air the only one that makes sense to be unique is Arceus as the only one.
Solgaleo and Lunala can give you a cosmog which can evolve into another Solgaleo or Lunala so there are definitely multiple of them all around the universe.
You also see more of them flying around during the credits of Pokemon Heroes. The emerald version pokedex entry also refers to how its female counterpart Latias forms small herds.
I think some are and others are not. However I could totally see legendary Pokémon roaming around the world considering how annoyingly fast they roam in the game
There's also how in Alola you can get a Cosmoem and eventually evolve it into either Lunala or Solgalio. All in one game. Although the argument could be made that they're not really legendaries, just super powerful rarer pokemon that come from other worlds via Ultra Wormholes. But I still like to take it as evidence. XD
In their universe, they are unique, but in the multivers, not so much ... And Arceus made a duplicate legendary in the special event of HGSS. ... that's a thing ...
Nonoctoro I mean... A lot of legendaries probably aren't unique. Mew for sure isn't, to begin with. Regigigas is pretty much unmoving and yet it's been found on several different continents far apart. You think it can run that fast? A few probably are unique, such as the lake trio, the tao trio, the creation trio, the others probably have something like "there are several Moltres, but THIS one is the Legendary Moltres", like one of them being more powerful than the rest.
I always separated Legendaries and Mythicals into Pokemon that are just very rare and powerful (e.g. Zapdos, Darkrai, etc) and those who are actually an integral part of the world and cosmology (E.g. Dialga, Groudon, etc). Interestingly, most mythicals are in the former category. There are a few that still cause me problems, however. Is Lugia being 'Guardian of the Seas' an individual role or a title for the species? Are the legendary dogs always the same ones Ho-Oh empowered in the fable, or did it perhaps create a number of the trios as its agents? Is there a species of Celebi or just the same one using time travel shenanigans to show up in the same place as itself? I once created a sephirotic tree of sorts and a creation timeline for the Pokemon universe, I was incredibly bored at the time. Arceus exists. Arceus creates Dialga, Palkia, Giratina. They creates the world(s). They create Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza to do the heavy lifting. (Maybe Regigigas, but I doubt it.) Time for life! First, they create Xerneas and Yveltal to have some context, then Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf (and maybe Zekrom, Kyurem and Reshiram) so these new things can think. They create the Mew species as test #1. It works, time for some more. Oh no, all that free will they got might be a problem. Create Zygarde to stop them destroying the world and Ho-Oh to punish them for trying. What's this, a world full of things with a need for lots of crazy fighting as a core part of their life cycle is a bit chaotic? Time to create some local law enforcement. Alola's guardians, Galar and Johto's dogs, the titans, Tornadus, Thunderus and Landorus, the Swords of Justice because apparently Unova is just that bad, maybe Lugia, Latias and Latios as species of wandering protectors, and Celebi doing the same thing temporally. Or maybe Celebi was Dialga trying to make a Mew of its own, and Hoopa was Palkia doing it too. Argument could then be made for Marshadow and Giratina... All of the rest are either aliens, created by humans, or just very rare and powerful. My headcanon is unassailable! (As long as I close my ears).
@TheDaxAzira Especially with the Galarian birds now in the latter case, though perhaps that is coloured a bit by how much they disrespected Legendaries in that expansion :D
Maybe everytime we see a legendary twice, it's different legendaries from different universes Edit: except for the times we see them next to each other obviously
I remember coming across a fanfic writer who put forth an interesting view on legendaries, specifically the 3 Kanto birds. Somewhere at sometime there was a prime Moltres/Articuno/Zapdos that was the very embodiment/concept of their element but they were too powerful, so Lugia/Ho-oh or some other greater legendary split off Aspects of these concepts to lessen their power so they didn't overwhelm nature itself
Because it is implied that the mewtwo that destroys the lab on Cinnabar island was the first and only one born. All references to a Mewtwo in the Pokémon mansion mention a single individual. With the lab destroyed and with the scientists presumably dead, who would or why would they try and make another mewtwo either on purpose or by accident? To do that, they’d either have to capture a Mew and go through the exact same procedure and make the same mistakes to make another mewtwo (since he’s an imperfect clone) or get genetic data from mewtwo itself.
My interpretation is that there are two forms of legendary pokemon. There are the god-like forms, and then the pokemon avatars of them. That's why the evil teams never try to capture the legendaries with a Pokeball. Only the avatars can be captured in pokeballs. They're very powerful, but they don't have reality-bending powers. They're boons to the players and a bit of the legendary wanting to have some fun. For example, in Diamond, Cyrus has to use the red diamonds to capture Palkia because Palkia only has the powers to create a new world, when they're not captured. As a gift for saving it, Palkia allows the player to capture it (after proving themselves in battle), while the true form goes off to do Palkia things. The battle frontier captains have done the same thing. Since at least the stories of the games don't happen at the same time, after the player captures their avatar, the true form travels to another region, looking for someone worthy. Arceus temporarily gives extra power to the avatar the GHSS trainer has on their team, and uses that to create a new avatar of whichever of the Sinhoh trio the player wants. 9:36 And Lockstin, that's just actual real-world theology stuff with a pokemon reskin.
My idea of this reasoning is that *specific* legendaries that appear twice move there temporarily. I mean I'd feel that a legendary pokemon being in any region would be huge no matter what... But not a single person mentions Groudon being in Jhoto. So my theory is that they don't know they moved there, instead they travel, possibly underground or some other way. Also pretty sure that the shiny Rayquaza is an alternate universe rayquaza. Cause Hoppa is said to be able to open portals to other universes. But specific Pokemon like Entei, Groudon, etc. travel to different regions to either explore or because they are called like how the seafoam islands are said to move around. But that doesn't mean there aren't multiple legendaries anyways like how Arceus literally creates a new Palkia, Dialga, or Giratina for us.
I always thought that they challenged you, and if you proved yourself worthy, they created an avatar that gets caught to satisfy the Pokémon sense of “honor” and could see through its eyes to see new lands and have new experiences (the original teleports or turns invisible). This way, the world doesn’t fall to pieces because an elemental force of nature was snagged by a ten-year-old packing a Master Ball. In _Go_ and _Let’s Go_ though, the legendaries got bored and spawned their avatars all over the dang place.
@@Watcher-in-the-Dark The Lake Trio as well maybe. I mean they are pretty much all concepts of the soul. Them making avatars of themselves doesn't seem farfetched to me.
Well, mewtwo is created in a lab, so technically is almost one of kind until it meets another mewtwo created in a lab by another organization that considered going after the other mewtwos too time consuming and expensive than just creating a new mewtwo from scratch.
So what if Legendaries work kinda like Darkseid from DC, or Demon Lords from Digimon? As in, there is ONE Core/Main/True version of every legendary that is directly related with whatever aspect they seemingly related to, while every other instance of that Legendary are just avatars/echoes of them that are less powerful and not as connected to the fundamentals of reality. So going with that logic, the bird trio in the Movie would be the Main versions that are actually connected to nature, which is why capturing them leads to devastating results, while the birds caught by Frontier dude and the players in various games are just avatars.
Yeah, Solgaleo and Lunala can breed. They are the male and female representatives of their species, respectively. Their breeding ground is the Lake of Sunne or Munne in Alola, and they entrust the Guardian Deities of each parallel world to take care of their young. They appear to be native to Ultra Space but choose to breed outside of it because they want to protect their young from being devoured by Necrozma which preys on their species. I mean, look at what Necrozma did to Nebby, and at that point, it had grown up to be a full fledged, Solgaleo/Lunala.
Even in the legends itself says that the old Solgaleo and old Lunala married then gave life to a new Cosmog. So like every century or half century there's a new Solgaleo or Lunala in Alola that governs then finds a mate in Lake of Sunne/Munne.
I remember seeing a theory that said that there is 2 mewtwos, each one has a very different voice (one is deep and manly and the other had a female voice) and I think it might be true, in my opinion there are both part of the mewtwo experiment
I would not consider the anime canon, to be honest. To me, "legendary" means two different things: Lore vs Gameplay. Mewtwo, Genesect, Deoxys... are NOT legendaries from a lore perspective. They were recently created/discovered and there's no legends told about them. Most legendaries are just extremely rare, not unique.
@@toprakgirgin8309 It's hinted at in Mewtwo Returns that Team Rocket was preparing to create a new Mewtwo, meaning they still had the knowledge and means to do so even after Mewtwo destroyed the lab and killed the scientists.
Arceus came from the 7th dimension where all initial singularities are born and exist as their own enclosed systems (universes) once they expand. Presumably, Arceus is one of many, and each Arceus gave origin to different universes, some similar to our own and others with different physical constants. There's also the possibility that those that produce universes with different types of physical constants could be other creatures similar to Arceus but not Arceuses themselves.
Arceus probably creates multiple versions of Himself just to govern a thousand or million alternate universes that can never be compressed into single reality.
