I'm just beginning to use SMG's. I generally go 5.56x45 or 7.62x51. I have found the laser shooting and fire rate on the SMG's to be just as, or even slightly more effective than the larger rounds.
I've used 6.3 against level 5 armor and it shreds. With it doing as much armor damage as it does and the rate of fire the guy I shot didn't have much time to even fire off a single round. So 9x19 is still useful even in late wipe.
mp7a1 all day everyday, I keep a fully stocked weapons crate suppressed, shift/cobra grip, magpul FS/RS none stop. 40 round mags, half FMJ half AP. Your comment about expectations is bang on - I never play mid/far with them and do my best to always close distance if i'm forced into a fight. Laser beam close range shredding is my jam.
I quite enjoy using the MPX and MP7/9. I find I have to play very carefully with them, knowing I need to engage in very close quarters to get the most out of them. They aren't as versatile as AR's but they certainly pack a punch up close. Typically high fire rate with very low recoil with almost no investment is good enough for me to rock one every few raids. If I'm loading in to go to dorms, I'm normally rockin' an SMG. Nobody seems to pick them up off my body when they kill me as well.
New secret meta: mpx with new 7n1 ammo. You can get recoil down to 23 with barely any money spent, with 41 round mags. It's insanely good, don't tell anyone
first - 7n31, second - default mp5sd has 26 recoil and it takes 50 round mags. This is really good weapon, but 7n31 is locked behind prapor lvl4 and you can buy only 90 rounds per restock, and of flea market one round costs 3500-4000.
For me MP5SD is like the first love. I may move on to assault rifles, but this baby is forever in my stash. With 26 recoil it beats all the other 9mm guns hands down. MP9 may spew 300 bullets per minute more, but it's recoil and low magazine capacity wont guarantee high total damage per mag. With MP5SD you just point and hold LMB at anything closer than 50m.
My first PvP kill was a lvl 40 streamer (not a famous one) who was running the MPX with RIP ammo. I was laying prone in the grass outside interchange during a night raid with nothing more than a p226 with basic crap ammo, guy comes sprinting past me, doesn't see me so I'm like ''Well..... a good a time as any'' get up and just mag dumped the 1 mag I had into him.... and he was geared, I mean helm with face shield, class 5 armour, the works.......... he nearly legged me but um.... one of my 9mm rounds managed to pierce his face shield so.. um.... yeah...... he was mad for sure lol.
The mpx is an absolute shredder, my only issue with it is sometimes, it doesn't ever give basically any notification your hitting your shots with it until the enemy is dead, so sometimes you'll doubt yourself about it.
Thing about AP is you can get it for 3$/round from peacekeeper and get 250 rounds of it, and 30 pen can 2-3 tap most visors, and most SMGs shoot very fast. Considering a lot of people run the VSS I think people sleep on the SMGs hard especially with budget options like the MP5SD.
Pp19 is absolute monster, I've got 2 of my shooter born in heaven headshots using it so it's a gun you can do anything with, just requires practice to learn how different 9mm rounds act at range as they are relatively low speed. PP19, Osprey 9, butt pad, b10, rk1, ekp 8-02, 90 rounds of 7n31, 90 more of AP = combo that can put down anyone.
pp19 + blue laser + peacekeeper grip + prapor sight + stock rubber pad it all comes to about 40k or so, and it feels and shoots great, not the greatest, but a cheap weapon that will come back in insurance about 75%, out of 10 of these i made, 6 came back, and 3 were stripped of some mods, only really losing one of them to a player scav basically at spawn
I use Smg's close to 50% id say i mainly take the kedr in night raids. MP5 or MP9s in lab raids. I remember in the beginning i used the Saiga 9 to kill scavs, and 9mm forces u to do headshots which i like because u dont dmg the armour there wearing.
SMGs are slept on. PP-19 with a few mags of PST GZH is the god tier budget gun. No, you're not gonna be dunking PMCs at the fat loot spots, but you can wipe up scavs no problem and make consistent bank with good safe loot paths. Also it comes back on insurance 95% of the time. MP9 or Kedr is my go to backup when running bolt action snipers. M700 + MP9 on Shoreline or Woods, ooo so good
This might sound crazy, but I use mp5 on woods and it works super well. It's cheap and has no recoil and always wins against snipers in close quarters. Of course, you have to change your playstyle for this. Know where to go and avoid open spots go from cover to cover and try to caught snipers early off guard. (once killed guy "head, eyes" first minute and he had REAP-IR thermal on he's fully kitted M1A)
For a newbie to Tarkov these get me the most kills and survivability. Every time I take a Mosin out I miss medium shots and only hit relatively stationary distant ones. Often I get surprise rushed by a scav and die. SMG works great close to medium. I even surprised a party and took out two 20's players and a 50-70 player pretty easily. I keep taking them out because they are cheap and usually end up surviving with them through multiple raids where AK's and Mosins get me killed and often don't come back with insurance. So so far the SMG's have been best bang for the buck for me, great accuracy and lots of 2nd chances vs long rifles when in semi auto mode. I think the ammo I use is mostly 9x18 PST from Prapor.
@DimitriBoi I have been keeping my eye on that stuff. But I'm not Prapor level 3 yet and they are 500 rubles each on the flea market. The PST is only 48. When I unlock Prapor 3 I can get the PBM for 119 which is much more doable :)
I really like the PP-19 and prefer it over any other SMGs and I know other get less recoil for less money but I just think the PP-19 is just a really dope gun
@@punkerguy805 I'm torn between the mpx and mp9. Pretty much effective distance vs rate of fire. But same pretty much, except I'm usually wearing a lvl 4 helmet unless it's a budget run
Kurz (pron: Kurtz) it's german for "Short". A lot of German firearms with the K letter are just cut down from other models. Including the famous Kar 98K, where again the k stands for Kurz-short
MP9-N with RIP ammo to destroy legs is my fav thing to do. Def will get a MP5 SD and try it out. I picked up a MP7A2 from a crate but the ammo cost seems way to high for my current level. Overall though I seem to have the most fun with these guns.
Nice seeing someone speak some sense about other weapons, doesn't always have to be the best weapon or ammo, just has to be about how you use the weapon and ammo in the current situation!
@@klaxenflatter8864 yeah just like any gun, depends on ammo. HK416 gonna be trash too if you're using trash ammo. MP7 is one of my favorite guns with good ammo. Doesn't matter what they're wearing when you can land 15 straight headshots in like half a second lol
My dude, you mention a few times how accurate these guns are but you're really talking about recoil. The MOA isn't the same as the recoil control. I know you know what you're talking about. SMG recoil is low and easy to control but the accuracy/MOA is not good.
Except for the MPX. 14" barrel can bring it down to I think 1.3 MOA. For people who don't know, MOA = Minute of angle (angular measurement unit). 60 MOA = 1 degree, so the 6 MOA of the MP5 for example means that it has a spread of 0.1°. 1 MOA = 1" spread at 100 yeards (for the EU folks like me, that's roughly 2.5cm per 90m). For the MP5 that means 6 MOA = 6" or 15cm spread at 90m = 30cm at 180m, etc. I don't know why BSG doesn't add that to an info tab added to the MOA rating at guns... but whatever. Anyway, I play silenced MPX with the 14" barrel sometimes, modded to 23 recoil and 50 ergo (honestly I think recoil somewhere around 30 and more ergo would be better since lower recoil at that point has very diminishing returns, but I like it like that). With 1.3 MOA it is basically as accurate as an HK with the 20" barrel... And you can snipe people quite well up to I'd say 250m. Did some dome sniping with it, but the obviously high bullet travel time and bullet drop means it's more of a fun thing to do, not actually useful. One funny thing about though is spraying down people full auto at 200m away with that recoil. On a sidenote though: MP7 > P90. Same price, much better and even cheaper ammo (FMJ vs SS190). The only thing the P90 has over the MP7 is the longer barrel resulting in better accuracy, 8.3 vs 3.4 MOA or so. But with these you'll have (or want to have) most of your engagements at less than 100m... and even at 150m the MP7 "only" has a spread of 30cm, which is more or less enough to reliably hit someone. But yeah, the P90 could still tap a head at that range with its 3.4MOA.
i think hes just saying accurate as a term to refer to you being able to be accurate with your shots because recoil isn't really throwing it off, not like actual accuracy of the bullets
You say the MP7 isn't meta but the amount I rip off bodies says otherwise... But there were loads of videos about it being meta fairly recently so people will keep on using it. Smgs are definitely viable but as you said it's dependant on the play style/objectives and enemies faced. I love an mp5sd with ap or 7n31 on reserve because you can slap the pistol and hatchet runners while standing a good chance against kitted guys with enough cover on reserve to fall back if you need to disengage.
Yes, because every bullet higher than 9mm gives me an uncomfortable feeling.. even when I see someone and he doesnt, Iam trying to sneak up because I cant control the recoil ^^
The BIGGEST PROBLEM with 9mm - for most 7N31 - is still the FUCKED UP ZEROING. Since you still can't zero in negative direction. Since most 9mm guns like the MPX got the PST GZH as standart ammo, wich is nearly HALF the speed of 7N31, its nearly pointless to use anything else then a Belomo on it (only sight with 25m zeroing), since else you def. will shoot above your target on 25m or further. So all these nice mods for better accuracy are kinda useless... and make it a CQC weapon only. :'-(
before even watching the video, yes they are but you gotta run the new ammo (7N31?) if you wanna take down juicy bois, AP 6.3 if thats all you got, beyond those two either RIP leg meta or go home and get an M4
the way around close range snipers is baby moist but I do run some smgs however just they can be super unreliable good early wipe but nowadays all people who use em really fuck up
personally i dont think so, 9mm is too expensive to run with ap/7n39, the makarov 9mm is pretty good with the pmm round being basicly cheap ap 6.3 and ofc mp7 is meta and great , leg meta is good in theory but it makes u play like u shouldnt play any fps by focusing legs, which are rarely visible
7N39 is only 450 roubles and shreds. True, buy limits mean you have to continually check to see if it's available but if you stock up while running other weapons you will amass quite a bit of it.
Between i just completed a similar smg test while learning the weapons and if we are kinda low level at recoil skills, MP5 and Vityaz are much better recoil pattern wise than all others mainly because of the fire rate.
Can't wait for the devs to make dropping down 20 ft actually do something other than just give fractures, sould be broken legs making it impossible to walk forcing you to crawl prone. For a game that holds itself up as ''realistic'' it sure seems to allow for a lot of call of duty plays.
I tried several smg's in the last few weeks and they just dont work for me because of the awful hitreg with full auto weapons, i pump a mag in someones head or legs and they just shrug it off and one tap me. Not to mention the full auto bug where your gun just randomly stops firing and goes click on a non-empty mag. I went back to semi-auto, at least that somewhat works.

im an ammo saver, so realy shooting vise with other weapons, but when i got mp5 and pst gzh ammo, sprayy !. and it drops any geared folks from any angle "
Screw gun snobs. The first squad (trio) i took down all lvl 50+ players decked out with lvl 5 armours lvl 4 helms (no faceshield tho) took them all out with a Kedr with PST gzh ammo on the first mag, didnt even have to move or reload. Positioning and accuracy wins fights in Tarkov. 90% of fights are already won before the fight begins depending on who is in a better position.
New to the game. Do they announce the wipes? And if so, do you lose ALL your stuff in your stash? And if so, do you just sell everything before the wipe?
i usually play offline raids with scavs as im too scared to lose my gear and i dont find dying quite fun like you do lol what do you think i should do? should i just use all my gear and say screw it? or should i just stick to being a coward
Generally its the price of the attachments, ammo and mags that keep SMG's out of the game for me. Most of the mags for SMG's are locked pretty high in the traders and by the time i get higher up in levels most people are already rocking t5 anyways where SMGs really fall off. And at that point i just rock m4s in place of SMGs with m855a1 being the best available ammo.
I agree, they should maybe add the maga to lower level so people can actually run them. Noticed this with alot of weapons. By the time you get the usable stuff, better stuff is available
