I am loving where RE is right now, I enjoy the the remakes the new games the engine it's in. I'm excited for the future, how Capcom is going i think they've hit a sweet spot on how they make their RE games and while I wouldn't say this is a golden era but it's definitely in an era.
Resident Evil has been enjoying a GOLDEN STREAK so far since RE7. The recent games have been massive winners in both sales and critical reception. The gap between Resident Evil and it's competitors is astronomical, and I don't think even a slight misstep from Resident Evil will lessen it anytime soon.
I'm new to RE, I've played many of the latter older games. played 7 and 8 not long after they came out and very recently 2 3 and 4 remastered. Personally the horror aspect of 7 and 2 are fantastic experiences, 3 4 and 8, while I like, become a little boring with how there's constantly tension, when tension, literally you're being chased and actively fighting 24/7 becomes the norm it loses its thrill. When the balance between action and anticipation is found, I believe that to be the superior formula. The series originally died because of 4, ultimately, 4 sowed the seed for a massively popular and mostly action orientated formula, thats not to omit that the series really died because of 5 and 6. However 7 and 2 brought players back.
Sales does not dictate 'golden age.' golden age means it wins the people's hearts and souls with genuine releases, all old and new fans would be pleased culturally.... these crappy remakes in recent years have done nothing but divide the fanbase even more, and making the OGs hate the newer games, EVEN MORE. RE2 REimagined 2019 was hardly a remake, it's a flawed game that feels incomplete. RE3 REimagined 2020 was even WORSE. RE4make is okay i guess, but nothing ground breaking. definitely not a golden era
I'm a newer fan, I played 5 & 6 when they came out but I didn't really get into the games until 2021 and from what I've experienced of the fandom, it seems like the games are enjoyed, RE3R being the "worst" out of the recent games and to me it's not a bad game just unfortunate how much was taken out. The vibe I get from fans is they can't wait for RE9 to come out and for the next remake, my GF who hates games loves playing RE5 and is really excited for a potential remake, so I'd say Capcom is definitely having some type of era right now.
In your personal and very subjective opinion, that is. RE4Make vastly surpasses the original for me, who grew up with it, and RE2Make is a great game, it was what brought me back to the franchise. Most of the recent games have been great, with actual passion put into them. Of course, nothing's perfect, RE3Make is a mess with barely any content in it, and i only ever heard of Resistance's entire existance once i gave RE3Make a try last month, but the rest have been pretty solid, remarkably good releases imo.
Yeah no, ada voice is bland as possible, she could be Ai, in fact i use a mod that change her voice with an ai and it's much better. Leon is a little kid that act like a badass. So i skip every dialogue. Just leon from resident evil 6 is a steel forged special op in comparaison, and the re4 og leon is a beast.
Also i dont get why no one complain about a very problematic thing. Either AAA studio give us garbage or remake. To go to most big studio. Ea sims 4 is milking player since 10 years. Skyrim same deal still too much bug and glith to count if you dont use mod that correct them after more than 10 years, starfield is empty and have worst ia than skyrim wich is incredible for a 70 € game. TES6 they are probably waiting for the time ai will be good enough so they dont have to code dialog for every npc and dont have to pay voice actor. Call of duty still garbage server, frequent crash. Capcom, they have butched a lot of content for EVERY REMAKE they have done, re3 being the worst by far. And god i cant stand leon litle boy. But most important than that they dont want to work on a new game anymore.
the originals charm just kinda aged like garbage a lot of it comes off as cornier than re5, besides a couple of lines. I agree they messed up the writing of krauser a bit but imo the charm didn't really fit someone that traumatized
Thank you finally someone my opinion. I was shocked how many titled is at best re or Miles better then re4 og. I mean wtf Leon’s character is so boring in the remake. Only Ashley really got an Improvement
I don’t know why everyone loves RE4 remake . Luis Death unspectular and very boring , fight with krauser not as close the charming from the OG, Ada’s voice , Leon’s boring character. Graphics and VR Mode surely amazing but that’s the problem. If the graphic is perfect everything else don’t matter right ? It’s still a great game but I would prefer every time the good old OG. Yes and of course „ Balistics“ and „ women „ . 2 another arguments why OG is better
A bunch of lines, two of which being sexual jokes, nowhere near warrants the original being better than the remake; which has an objectively better story and combat. Jump off the nostalgia train
@@WinterWolf_Edits removing one of the best boss fights in video game history U3 Cage Fight another reason why remake never is better. Yes and removing the sexual jokes is a prove nothing is allowed anymore in games these days. No I will never jump from my nostalgia train . Ps1-3 will ever be the best gaming time of all time
@@mr.bandicoot6650 U3 being one of the best boss fights is subjective, and they removed it in turn for better gameplay and a better story and overall better game. Again, if a boob joke is enough for you to call a masterpiece bad, then you truly are a nostalgia blinded fan.
They're both masterpieces in their own way. The combat, level/map design, story and treasure systems are much better and cohesive now. It sucks though that they missed the mark on the charm and cheekiness which go hand in hand really. I too miss the ballistics line and macho Leon. Being afraid to just say whatever definitely has robbed the soul out a lot of games lately. There's soul in a lot of the remake still though.
@@quaker5712making a boob joke is nowhere near having soul. Leon and Ashley actually being realistic and well developed characters adds way more soul than the Og ever had (that’s from someone who loved the original for years)
You make a lot of good points but me personally I can't agree that over the shoulder resident evil can ever be the golden age of resident evil. the golden age is never coming back. All this is, is just the "modern era" of resident evil, for better or for worse, because capcom has by default without directly saying it, decided that fixed cams, pre-renders, moody OSTs are all outdated, and that over the shoulder, photo-real, lacking in any kind of memorable soundtrack, is superior now, and it's just the way it is now, and everyone should get on board with it because the "outdated" ways are never coming back and it was just nostalgia that made them good. For what it's worth modern era resident evil is still great in a lot of ways. But it's not what i'd call "golden age". Because the way re is now, it's impossible to replicate because it's a different time and the dev teams have a different mindset, and they are opting for what's popular, (third person over the shoulder, movement based with stealth crouching, parrying, dimly lit areas lit up by flashlight, "zombie" shooter) while throwing in old school re elements. It can share similarities with the golden age, but will never be, the golden age. I don't think RE4make is perfect across the board either, flat voice acting and dialogue delivery at times, bland ass color pallette, photo-realism(which will age worse) over artistic aesthetic, clunky looking and sluggish movement where player input is slightly delayed, cutcene cinematography is a straight downgrade. For what it's worth though, the gameplay can be great and it has it's moments, but it's far from perfect. An 8/10 at best, where the game at times feels like a 9/10, and other times feels like a 7/10.
the Seperate Ways soundtrack was phenomenal but I heavily agree that the re2/3 soundtracks totally underdelivered. I think it also fixes a lot of other things like old areas and redoing a lot of adas lines, not to mention the cutscenes are shot a lot better. The main game and 2/3 are definitely not perfect but I think that they are constantly improving from game to game
