I was gonna say I think I'm a 9w1 most of the time but I don't nap often. I'm a heavy sleeper when I do sleep but most of the time if I'm wasting time it's watching youtube or something like that.

My partner is a 9w1, but his 8 wing comes out when he’s driving. I used to think I taught him road rage, but then I remember the first time I was in a car with him, he road raged really hard because he missed his exit, and that was the day we met.

I am a 9w1 who is actively trying to grow my eight wing. It becomes so hard to emplace boundaries and provide self-care when you have been so focused on everyone's needs but your own. A lot of pent up resentment builds up and I have been trying to use it to grow my eight wing and start to care about myself.

As a 9w1 I feel called out. You hit the nail on the head with than inner voice telling them to do/be better. Yes, and I love deep philosophical conversations. Not a fan of lying around napping though (as 9s, we aren't lazy! We just enjoy a slower pace of life sometimes!) I'm more likely being creative, journaling, reading, drawing, making music... Being the negotiator type, if I were in an argument with someone (unlikely), I'd be like: I can sooo see your point of view!

9w8 here, I’ve never been able to explain myself the way you are explaining it here! No one believes me at first that I’m a 9 because I have such a strong 8 wing and it took me awhile to understand I was a 9 because I actually do get in to conflict quite a lot . They way you explained why I do though and how I deal with my anger was so clear !

I'm a BIG TIME 9w8. I've been called "intense" and "too much" so often in my life that it has made me self conscious. My ex was a 9w1 and basically slept throughout our entire life together.

Probably I'm 9w8. I don't like when I feel controlled by the others (specially my parents), I like be independent (I don't like to have people that I know around me) and I hate injustices, but, at work, I'm perfectionist like 1.

Im a 9w1 but i often have 8 in me especially when im stressed. I become irritable and when something happens i tend to act like its the end of the world but once it passes i go back to 9w1 and try to see what i did wrong and that it wasnt such a big of a deal as i originally thought. The only reason why i wont say im a 9w8 is cause i stare at the most smallest things like i just found a diamond in the dirt.

The opposite with me. As a child I was a 9w1 until I realised it makes everyone think they can take advantage of me so I had to develop the 8 wing in me. Don't they dare to invade my inner peace... Once you press that button, you're gonna see what you just woke up

9w8 for sure! Wow. Hahaha!! I do think I pull a little 1 wing every so often when I’m really focused and/or creative. My husband is an 8 and I really think we swap numbers with each other; he becomes more of the 9 peacemaker wing and I become the 8 challenger wing. It’s what makes us get along really well, I feel safe to have opinions with him.

So, I’m totally a 9w1… until I come up against my dad (a type 8w7). He is literally the only person in my life where I feel like I lose that sense of restraint and control and turn into a 9w8, which actually drives me nuts and then fuels further criticism of myself over my turning to my 8 wing to try to fix the situation or make points at times where something is just not helping him live life in peace. I love my wing 1, and then want it back , AND I long to spread the peace if possible to help everybody get alone and be happy 😂

I'm the 9w8. I know some 9w1 people who try to be so accommodating that in a dispute they will agree with both parties. They see both side's views and although I can do the same thing it sometimes gets on my nerves. I'm all about win-win situations but when one party is blatantly wrong they deserve the axe. I guess I just don't like the 9w1s in my life being so on the fence and passive during more serious situations. It's all good to be passive and lazy but when it's time to fix a problem you have to call it what it is.

This is probably just me coming off from Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but I think Sam Wilson is a Type 9 because he's trying to make sure everyone gets along and he really goes out of his way to try and be compassionate to even the worst of people. He feels like a Social 9 (countertype) and if I had to pick a wing for him, it would probably be 9w8 more than 9w1.

I swear I have two books on the enneagram and it took me a minute to understand the wing system and understand the stress and security system. Type 9's, when secure, tend to take on the healthy characteristics of Type 3's; highly efficient, focused, and self- assured... But when they are stressed, they take on the unhealthy characteristics of Type 6's, becoming pessimistic and always doubting themselves.

I feel like im definitely a type 9 but i deel closer to 9w8 Except even tho i do get angry sparks like everything described in the 9w8 section, im very good at still keeping the anger repressed, at least around the person its with, i might rant to someone not in the situation if i can but i feel like a 9w8 who’s just learning to be more assertive

I know I'm a 9 after listening to you but I got confused with my wings. I thought I was an 8 wing, but I think that's when I'm under stress. When I think about my happy places, it's much more a like a 1. But ask that stuffing does make me explode sometimes!🤷‍♀️

A question on a very different topic than the video I'm watching 😂 I have a friend that is a 4, but she experiences that she switch to all the characteristics of a 6 in stress. She experienced childhood trauma from very young and had a very unstable family/house situation. Is there done studies on how the Enneagram works with people in situations where there is severe childhood trauma? I suppose regardles of your childhood you'd usually have a main type right? She loves the Enneagram and it has shown her that she isn't alone with having big, deep and lots of emotions. 🌻😊

If she goes to six in stress, she might want to look more closely at the type nine. She may still be a four, but she might also be a nine who has mistyped.

She may be mistyped, or may be a 5 who has the wings of 4 & 6. Or she could have both 4 (heart) & 6 (head) in her Tritype & now just needs to figure out her gut type (8, 9 or 1).

The Enneagram is a fantastic tool for exploring your personality; however, there is nothing about the Enneagram that is equipped to deal with severe childhood trauma. In my opinion, she will be better served going to a licensed psychotherapist. They are professionals who have spent years in school and thousands of hours training to help those with intense trauma.

@@AbbeyHowe she's been, and are still going on check ups now and again, to a therapist 😊 She's just been diving into the Enneagram this last year and have found it to be what you said; a great tool, but she doesn't use it as a substitute for therapy. Its been helpful in terms of relationship with people around her.
