I have a lot of people saying that my inlay rings are going to fall apart. So I thought I would stress test that out and see if they are right. 😁👍

I love quality control stuff. I make some wood and metal rings, and I know my mom wore them while washing dishes all the time and those deteriorated. But others that I made and gave to people still look good cause they're not washing dishes in them. But this kind of video has a lot of value in it : )

I watched the videos when you made those rings ,and had faith they would stand these tests . Thumbs up for your methods and the results of this video. Being a Metal Detectorist as another one of my hobbies . I have dug up rings made 50 years ago that looked as though they were lost last year. So no worries when you dig them up , they will still look great !

Thanks for posting this I recently got into making these rings with stainless steel and opal and I wore my ring at work had gloves on and it stood up against using my hands all day and washing my hands throughout and not a single issue with the ring at all. No scratches or dents whatsoever.

I made a few inlay rings using your fantastic tutorials. I used Everbuild industrial grade CA from Amazon uk. My wife, daughter and myself have been wearing them pretty much constantly for circa 18 months. Mine stays on 24/7. All look the same now as when they were made. No problems 😀👍

And they give bad info like to use water as an accelerator for CA glue. This will make it harden but it will also make it white, full of bubbles and brittle. 😁👍

Thanks for the video! I also use Starbond and UV Resin (ALUMI-UV in my case) for my rings and have never had any issues as long as it was applied correctly in the first place. I do prefer the feel of the CA finish personally but durability wise all is good. Rock on brother!

Nice vid. I may make one of these rings in the future and now you have me curious... What about thermal shock? For the heck of it, once you dig those rings up, what about submerging them in ice cold water(or even better, an ice cube haha) for several minutes then quickly place them into hot water and vice versa? I doubt anything will happen but it's still extra content for your vids. :D

I cannot believe people say such crappie things! Do they know how much work goes into making these videos? I appreciate your teaching us what you know and when I make something crappie I don't blame the teacher, I just do it again until I get it right! It's not your rings that are garbage, maybe they just don't know how to follow direction or use cheap brands? Jeez, I can't believe people these days!

I haven't had any problems with CA glue either. I try to not wear them during work or other activities that might damage them but I tend to forget and I don't have major issues besides a few scratches. When I DO hear of them breaking it seems to be because someone is abusing them

Great video! My problem is the pinholes. I cannot seem to make an inlay ring like these without them. It is so frustrating! I have been trying for years now and have not come up with a way to prevent them or fix them. Do you know what causes them or how to prevent them or fix them after the fact?

I make rings and use CA gullies ( super glue) and the combo of glue and stones is so hard that it eats up dremel cutting bits. They’ll last pretty much for ever

Love this! I make Breastmilk Jewellery with this style of ring and the only thing that changes is the epoxy resin, it changes a slight yellow tint but other dna artists have said their resin components have shrunk, any idea what this could be?
@GomeowCreations

Thanks and sadly I don't know much about that and how it would react with the different resins. My just bet is just to try a test different options and see what works.
@KayceJones

Simple answer is the CA glue ones hold up and the UV resin ones do not. I have a CA glue one I’ve worn as a thumb ring for about 3 years and I’ve knocked a few opal chunks out but that’s it. Mine is packed with opal.

@bobbarker5884

They are hard plastics essentially so ya they will scratch but if they do they are very easy to polish back up. Even by hand. Titanium and silver rings scratch fairly easily too

People suck! I tumble EVERYTHING I make and they have stones in them. And NOTHING happens. I do this to strengthen and shine everything! It’s a beautiful machine! Lol I figure if my jewelry can make a 10-12 he tumble than it should withstand what most people could throw at it! These people that say this about your rings are jealous and now a days people can’t give you credit they can only seem to criticize and potentially hurt your business or make you go through this process- but what you know now is a asking point! So PPpppppppp to those people! I love your rings and I am inspired to try. I have the opal chips so I should!! Ps… I don’t tumble opals. Put them in after. Although one time I forgot and a ring tumbled. Black Opal lost color but after it dried it all came back! Phew!!

@bobbarker5884
@bobbarker5884 4 месяца назад
What adhesive are you using? f it's CA and it's cloudy you could be using too much accelerator. If it's uv resin, it may be that there are too many air bubbles. Or it could be the brand you are using?
@baivesan
@baivesan 3 года назад
Some variants of CA are water soluble. I've glued a fingernail i've chopped through with a saw and one of the CA's just melted away from the sweat while wearing a glove in about an hour. It was marketed as professional furniture glue. All the others i used (off the shelf Loktite, Bison, UHU and other stuff) stayed until they cracked to bits. I've also tried to reinforce the stitches on the soles of a pair of shoes i have, tube of glue ran out midway, finished with another, different type. A month later, only the first part was still around, the rest melted away from the yarn. So it really depends on the formulation. Starbond does market itself as a crafts glue, so i'd assume their formulation is chosen to be water resistant. Best advice would be to test your glue first.
