I just wanted to leave a comment here to say that if you place an invisible helicopter landing pad it will apparently help the heli land a majority of the time in that exact spot.
Hey, im new to Arma and started making professional missions and just wanted to say that your video really helped me out a lot and I wanna thank you for that, I subscribed Directly after the video ;)
brooooo this was exactly what i needed. im suprised u dont need to mess with the times like the (min, med, MAX) with EACH waypoint?! bc thats what i was doing!! LOL
Hi! Thanks for the video! May i a question? Can i do the same thing for the civilians? They're uncuffed and i want that once all the civilians get up on the helicopter, it just return on his base. I had set a trigger where, in the condition box, i wrote civ1, civ2 ecc and then i connected the set waypoint activation button with the land waypoint. It didn't work. The helicopter just stay on the land waypoint, waiting for nothing. Thanks again for the video.
thanks Do you even know how to say heicopter to get specific veichle ? I have a veichle wich is spawn and players would left it somewhere. Is there way to say Heli to finde this a nd get it out of players ? . and swich off spawn.
It does this yes. I think the best way to keep it on the ground is by adding a wait command or by adding a timer in the settings. If you dont wanna deal with that then probably just be there when it comes lol. I've got a few arma videos I need to work on so maybe Ill add that to the list
It works but I've noticed that my infantry tries running to the "get out" point until I land. Then they turn around and get into the Heli. How do I get them to stay put until I land?
This is honestly a great question and I'm really sorry to say I have no idea how to do this. Thanks for being clear in your question. If I were you I would try to add some form of timer or 'as the squad captain' issue a wait command to your troops. Sorry about that, and good luck finding out. If you end up finding the solution please respond and ill pin this comment!
@@UselessMiwa I've actually found the answer after a week of intense google search results! I create a trigger in the area where the AI infantry is setup to wait for pickup and set the trigger owner on the helicopter that picks them up. Then I connect the waypoint command to the "get in" move marker of the infantry squad! I set the activation to: Owner only Type: Present Then in the trigger condition: isTouchingGround triggerAttachedVehicle thisTrigger Please pin this to help others :D
Hey can you make the helicopters come at a certain point for an evac? Because I would want that. So if my squad finishes their last objective I want the chopper to come then, than pick them up for an evac how would I do that?
SKplus yeah I connected it to my last see and destroy objective marker but it takes off and hovers there until I complete it and then it lands to pick me up however the helicopter hovers over a danger zone.
I am sorry I have no idea. Sorry, and good luck figuring it out. If you do figure the solution out, please let me know in the comments here so I can pin that for others to see.
This is so weird I got it to work last night and now I can’t do it have the same set up like same waypoint set of from last night right next to my new one I have all the EXACT same waypoint and it won’t work all it does is load the squad leader
I have no idea what could be causing this.. maybe its a problem with parenting? Other than that I could only say watch the video a bit slower and try again- Sorry.
Possible fix: If you are deploying AI units in your squad then you have to give them the unload command in game. If you are deploying an AI squad then give the squad leader the "Get Out" command. Hope this helps, I don't have Arma 3 installed on my pc right now or I'd test it for you.
This is a common issue. If you add the helicopters pilot to your squad then you can order it to wait. You can also add a Wait command to your members separately. OR you will simply have to load at the same time. If you have an AI squad with you, then try ordering them to Load first while in game, then board the heli yourself. Hope this helps.
You should be able to simply issue the heli's next commands in the chain to another move to then unload. Could look something like this, Move > Load (heli lands and picks up units) > Move > Unload (drop off)
@@UselessMiwa Thx man. If you don't mind I have got another question: so is it normal that the heli is just flying straight up to max height ? ---> this flyInHeight does not affect
@@VeryCoolCatBF I think that should change things. I'm sorry I'm not entirely sure. I haven't got the time to check as finals are approaching! Good luck my man
@@UselessMiwa Sadly, there's no wp "GO" i used "move" and it doesn't work. heli goes down and then up and flyes with player still inside... i will envtl get it to work, but i stick with the "!(player in heli1)" trigger for now. maybe it is b/c player is co-pilot... ;) thank you anyway!
I’m not exactly sure what this could be. Please watch the video in it’s entirety and go step by step. There are a lot of small things that are very important or else the guide won’t work. My first thought at reading your comment would be, maybe you arent parenting the pick up command to the player.
When I try this the helicopters just fall out of the sky, how do I either get them to turn on in the sky when i start the mission or if I want to start them on the ground?
JMF hey man logged online this morning to the eden editor. The problem you may be having is a lack of a pilot? Or a lack of fuel in the attributes. Skill might also affect this. But the eden editor should auto set it to flying if its elevated
ahh I found my problem was I was not setting them high enough for the auto flying to activate. now what I still cant figure out is how to get them to start flying from the ground once pax are loaded up. I know there needs to be some kind of trigger but not sure what code to type?
JMF watch my video second by second and it'll show you how to get the helicopter to take off after you've loaded. You can script it to wait (x seconds) and then take off after player in vehicle is true but if you don't need a big delay then my video should be informative.
2 YEARS AGO??? How did I miss this. Try adding an invisible helicopter landing pad or making sure the helicopter is trying to land in a safe/flat location.
HELLO WHAT A WONDERFUL COMMENT. MAKE SURE THE HELICOPTER IS LANDING ON A FLAT SURFACE. YOU CAN ALSO PLACE A HELI PAD OBJECT WHERE YOU WANT IT TO LAND WHICH SOMETIMES HELPS. I HOPE THIS HELPS, GOOD LUCK!
make sure you are marking a flat area to land the helicopter, sometimes rough terrain can affect its ability to land. Other people have commented that placing a helicopter landing prop may also help.
@@UselessMiwa like when i click on 6 men and i do Shift right click to add the waypoint i put it in the vehicle and once i press start, they just walk around it
@@andrebertello2985 perhaps you aren't connecting the get in command as the child command of the load command. Alternatively, if you are playing as a squad captain with NPC units, you need to order them to get into the vehicle before you enter.
@@UselessMiwa ok. Thanks. Really appreciated. I’m a MH-47 pilot and want to transport troops to a chosen Drop Off Point. I’ve been looking everywhere for a tutorial. Thanks again.
@@UselessMiwa oh thank you! i was making it land on the airport and i was so confused why it isnt landing, now it works! suggestion btw: how do i work with the guard command? cuz they just goof off.
@@puddsers802 Armas AI isnt known to be the best... usually I set up a trigger that will activate an attack command, and change that attack command so that the battle formation for my soldiers is to stay in place.
