Great duty belt set up I'm a 24 year veteran of our Dept. And worked security for 30 years to. Our Dept. Has the Safariland basket weave, the plain leather in the Sam Brown belts with and with out the buckle. I bought all my stuff back in 1992 when I was working armed security and going to police science. I worked for our Axillary unit at the time to. You need some new stuff like I did 5 years ago.
I'm glad you stated not to wear anything on the back of your belt. So many cops and security do, and it's a safety concern for your spine if you fall.. I never thought about your back while seated.
I'm a city police officer for my department out here in Wisconsin. I have 25 years on. I am a FTO training officer and Armor! Nothing on your back ok! I have arthritis in my spine and back had to retire because of this and being shot 3 times to in a jewelry robbery. Never play follow the leader! Be your own man. If your FTO officer don't mind were to place stuff your way. Never a ASP behind your weapon. Infront yes. By your oc spray and hand cuff holder. It will help you trust me! We use all Safariland Sam Brown 94 and buckle belts with Safariland basket weave or plane black pouches. Some depts. You can use nylon. Keep safe brother in blue.
I work as an armored car guard. Like to run a level 3 holster at minimum as it could save my life one day. I carry a Glock 21 and 5 extra mags(you never want less ammo in a bad situation).Two mags on my belt and 3 on my body armor vest. I recommend body armor if your company allows, if one carries a gun on duty body armor is a must Imo. Also a small can of pepper spray and a multitool is very useful. Don't forget some type of first aid kit, I usually bring a backpack with a small aid kit for boo boos and a more serious aid kit along with a tourniquet for worst case scenarios. Try to keep your gear minimalistic as possible to save weight. Very excellent video it's nice to see how others setup their duty belts.
And my agency requires hand cuffs! We have to had a way to detain someone until PD arrives and in some cases PD is so busy we do the transport to the jail!
Always put your oc spray infront of your weapon holster your key holder before that. Then your cuffs in the right rear area and nothing on the back. Nice stuff and duty belt set up.
Nice video nice set up. Your old school. Safariland black belt with the buckle. I used the Safariland Basket weave Sam Brown Belt 94 buckles. It lasted 16 years. If you want Helpfull advice you should put your oc spray infront of your pistol for quick deployment. Then put your baton on your left side behind your mag pouch. It's easier for deployment. That is the way my duty belt is set up for st least 20 years now as a law enforcement officer.
I like the grey with black strip pants wish i could have found black with grey strip for my uniform when i did security always got compliments on my sam brown belt
The only thing I would say about this is not to put everything on your duty belt, that's really hard on your low back and if you are a big guy like me you will already have issues keeping your pants up without suspenders... if you are an armed guard you should be wearing body armor which would allow you to use a tactical plate carrier.. also with all this gear on your belt how are you able to get into or out of a patrol vehicle? I have to do this often and I'd be sitting on half my gear if I had it all on a belt... just wondering about that.
I can't say that I've ever had an issue getting in and out of a car but keeping things off of your lower back should help with that. I don't personally use an outer carrier so I'm unable to demonstrate that aspect of carrying equipment but our class A pants do have hidden cargo pockets to spread some more things out like tourniquets and gloves and stuff
I used to do armed security in 2007 then went back to construction because I didn't like the site I was assigned to my license expired I want to renew it eventually I would Carry my glock 17 gen 3 or 22 .40S&W I'd carry 3 spare mags because that's my personal preference and I'd carry 2-3 CAT tournaquets just in case. What gun do you carry and ammo you use? Did you buy your own or was it company provided? Did they charge you? How about your vest? I own a few from safe life defense and bullet blocker level 3A. Does your company provide vests
Why put the baton behind the pistol? That’s absolutely stupid. Cross draw so you have it extended in your right hand to use it. I’ve seen people put OC back there too. Like why?
There is no real benefit to either placement. You can wear yours wherever you'd like. Mine is on the strong side for a little bit better weight distribution.
It’s all preference based but over all I would recommend having your pistol and baton on the same side. Cross draw takes more time as well and is more of liability as far as allowing the aggressor time to attack you. Like I said… it’s all preference, but overall cross draw isn’t usually the “preferred” method.
I carry all my less lethals on my vest. I like to have my strong side clear for a clean draw without obstructions. But as mentioned above, it is all about preference. At the end of the day, as long as you have the tactical advantage then that's all that matters!
I will note from a personal account, do not put any kind of gear in direct alignment with your spine, I had a partner who had his cuff case there and when we were grappling with a guy he fell right on a curb and that incident fucked his back and paralyzed him for a few months, he had to have back surgery and years of p.t. to even get him back to somewhat normal, his back still gives him problems if he strains himself, would prefer not to see that happen to anyone
