wow! I just learned a very BIG fact in this video today. I never knew that with the approval of the schoolhouse recruiters can add up to 5 points or more. That really caught me off-guard because after I viewed my test result I was wondering "why can't someone just waiver me and round this score up". I was 2 points away from my goal, and it made me feel bad. But thank you so very much for the Amazing info that you put out to us.

Another informative video SFC Swartz. I'm so jealous about new soldiers in the Regular Army and Guard with all these interesting MOS's opportunities along with a boat load of benefits.After leaving the Reg.Army and going into the NJ Guard the only benefits we got was being able to select what MRE you wanted to eat in the field. :)All kidding aside I was a Guards recruiters dream. I walked into the nearing Armory and said i just got out of the Army a month ago and i want to join this Engineer BN (I'm a commo guy) I brought in all my award and promotions orders and 4 weeks later i was at my first weekend drill.It was Faster the joining the reg Army lol. To all the young ones out there do Reg Army and then Guard. Time flies i did 9 years total and it feels like 100 years ago. You will never regret it especially with all these benefit packages. I'm jelous

They handed me a copy of my score walking out of the test room. I got a 70 with a GT of 112. Everything else is from 113-120 which is surprising since I'm 32 and been out of school for so long lol

I had my chosen MOS changed the day before MEPS and there were no vacant spots open in the whole state lol. Luckily for me, they opened one for me and it happens to be very close to home.

I had first interview with my recruiter and she had me to take a test , I told her I didn't know about the test she told me it doesn't matter just take it, I took the the test she told me you scored 71 and she said that is good score so she wanted to register me for the real test in 2 days, is 2 days Enough for me to get high score in technical skills, I'm very good with Math

You likely took the PiCAT, so I imagine your recruiter wants you to take the PiCAT verification test, which is a 20-30 question test just to verify you didn't cheat on your PiCAT. Was your test timed, or untimed? The PiCAT is untimed, and the actual ASVAB is timed, but usually the ASVAB is only taken at schools, or at MEPS, not in your recruiters office! 71 is awesome, that means you scored higher than 71% of other test takers

It wasn't Timed , and she told me I can take the real test in her office and if I like the score I can keep it, if not she will register me for another one at School I think

The only test is a 20min practice test and the PiCAT can be completed at the recruiting office. The PiCAT can be used if you pass the verification test at MEPS. One more thing SGT, would you consider making a video on the proper mindset going into BCT? I am currently reading books from former SOF Operators such as "Extreme Ownership", "Can't Hurt Me", "Special Operations Mindset", and "Navy Seal Mental Toughness". I have been adding this along with a mix of ACFT and workouts SOF Operators do, I figured adding toughness to my physical body from the most elite warriors along with their advice for the mindsets would best prepare me for BCT. Basically, come in phenomenal shape, and the proper mindset to succeed in BCT. I tend to overthink and overprepare however, seeing key points from your perspective could give me and possibly others ease going in. Cutting it short if I could ask you in person would be "Would reading books on mindsets SOF operators have, along with doing workouts consisting of a mix of ACFT and workouts SOF operators do be a good method to succeed in BCT?" I did a video around mindset for completing BCT during COVID but I could explore that option again possibly in the near future. Thanks for the idea and those are excellent resources to read from! The audio book for “Can’t Hurt Me” from David Goggins is better because it includes an intertwined podcast adding additional insights not within the book. Again great info retired here also not after you're in you can be crossed trained in a different mos I know that has happened to me but not by choice lol I must have had 6 different qualified mos's I went as a fuel handler came out commo with heavy equipment operator, small arms repairer NBC nco supply sergeant and and instructor each job I enjoyed very much I was active , reserve and national guard best time ever

I didn’t get much time to study for the asvab so my scores weren’t enough to get the mos I wanted (I didn’t know much about the army when it came to terms like mos and how the scores worked for the asvab). I was able to qualify for 92A and 92Y. I’m trying to go for 92A, do my four years and get the experience. I originally wanted 17C or 25B since it’s similar to what I’ve done in college before having interest in the army. Civilian jobs are picky when it comes to IT with someone without much experience straight out of college. I made it this far into enlisting that it would be dumb of me to drop out right when the contract is about to be given to me in a couple of days. Sure it’s not the mos I originally wanted but I’ll take it as experience and re-enlist after my contract is up and have a better asvab score by then to get into 17C or 25B.

By studying the AFQT portions of the test to gain a higher score does zero for MOS opportunities of the 17C/25B. It’s the line scores that determine the MOS. A lot of IT jobs care about experience and passion, not job experience. Most of the 6 figure earners in IT I know got promoted into their jobs out of other departments in Amazon etc because they showed the passion and commitment. If you make a portfolio of technical stuff like a website. That can really help too. Electronics projects or whatever interests you. Better than a resume in certain areas.

Yeah, I had a really awkward situation with my reserve recruiter where I was contracted then my dad got diagnosed with un controlled afibrillation 2 months before I ship so I informed them I was going to DEP discharge then right around when I would ship they were able to get it under control I felt like a dick for getting out but it gave me the opportunity to join the guard with a job I’d prefer

I qualified for every job, my recruiter told me to go counter intelligence but I want to try for ranger. Would that be a good mos?

I don’t know you well enough to suggest anything of value. I will say that counter intel is a great MOS with a lot of opportunities post Army career. Any MOS can do Ranger School if the unit has the funding and slots. Another question: I’m 40. Army recruiter said I can definitely get a waiver. He also said that I’m not age restricted out of an MOS. Unlike the Navy where there is an age limit for certain jobs.

@@TEAMSWARTZ Another question: My recruiter in Richmond Hill, Queens is trying to get me a waiver for the officer’s route. I have two masters degrees and a BA. The army is different than the Navy because they take a separate OAR test while the Army uses the ASVAB scores. I have leadership experience. I didn’t take the ASVAB yet but I know I will score above a 101 on the GT section. I have a 3.7 gpa. But I don’t think the army will even consider me because they can pick someone less qualified but younger. Also, I’m a heterosexual, Asian dude. In the US now, Im basically white. Lloyd Austin wants more black officers, while everyone else is pushing women and the alphabet people. Do I have a chance? My recruiter said they use a whole application approach, which is for people who don’t score well. It means they use DEI initiates to make their choice. Do I have a shot?

Would they require professional certificate for waiver? Let's say for 25 series, if I'm short 1-5 pts in the ASVAB line score and I want a 25H. Would they ask for cert or work experience? In today's setting, because video is a few years old now.

1-2 points maybe depending on your civilian credentials and work experience. You’ll need a recruiter and MEPS GC to request the schoolhouse to consider that ETP for Line Score Waiver. Good luck!

recall qualifying for medical equipment tech. Ended up as a 63B Light Wheel Vehicle Mechanic. Don't recall why this happened. I had enlisted in 1990. Retired in 2012.

The one located in the description? Just click the block where the number is located for the respective line score and just type your score in that box. There isn’t a drop down box or something. Hey SGT, Q: do you think I can survive bmt while not being in shape, my recruiter says “that’s what bmt is for” and chuckles I’ve been watching your videos for quite a while. Honestly I’m testing in 2 weeks, I’ve been mildly preparing for 2 months (immediately after contacting my recruiter) Truthfully family life prevented me from getting my wanted goals (I’m so out of shape, strong willed and physically weak aha) do you think I’ll be okay, it’s mainly the push-ups I have good stamina. Aiming for 68w (May shop around) for 3-4 year reserves, and I’ll join active once college is done. Really want to dip my toes in before going full force (active.) Grateful for recruiters, mine has been extremely supportive, helpful, and helping me achieve my goals… couldn’t have asked for more.

Do you have a video talking about different scenarios Where couples join the military and what happens....For example, I'm joining the Army and maybe in a few months my wife wants to join the Reserves. I’m great thank you and I hope alls well with you! No, AIT is AIT. You can’t take time off from initial entry training to get training on the ASVAB to try to change your MOS while receiving MOS training. $75-150k has already been set aside for your training. You will complete training, get commanders permission to do the fast class at some point in your contract and then retest.

Hey SGT, Quick question. I’m about to pick my MOS and my recruiter is telling me you need to enlist for 6 years for an MOS that has a bonus. I know certain MOS’s like aviation require a 6 year minimum but I feel like he’s not being completely honest . For example, 88M is an MOS that has a bonus as well as 11B. My friend is 88M and is telling me that what I’m being told is not true and that you can receive a bonus for a 3 year contract. Thoughts?

I just chose my MOS for the Guard, and I'd considered active duty as well. To my knowledge, jobs open up for the entire fiscal year, which starts October 1st, for the Guard. For Active duty, I THINK a large amount of jobs open up at the beginning of the fiscal year, which is October 1st, but slots also open up throughout the year (I BELIEVE.) Totally could be true that the job is unavailable, but there are many other maintenance or repair jobs in the Army, but I think 91B would be more beneficial than others. An aviation maintenance job would also be good, just like 91B

First don't take an MOS that doesn't have civilian counterpart. Get a MOS that requires a top secret clearance and when your active duty portion of your Air Force contract is up just trot over to Lockheed or Boeing, fill out the employment application and take a seat.

For what purpose? Unless your line scores need to improve, the AFQT score doesn’t matter for jobs. Hey please Which part of the army does not disqualified weight lost surgery? Can we waive for weight surgery? I saw many want to join but get automatically disqualified due to the weight surgery

Did you get just the band or the surgery as well? Check all branches. I know the Army says they don’t but you never know unless you try. It will boil down to your history and severity. For the credit check part, if I started everything with the Air Force and did everything except swear in (asvab, credit check, waivers, meps physical portion) before deciding to switch to army, will the army do another credit check?

We scan fingerprints yes prior to and during MEPS Processing. The investigators do the background check. If you have law violations then we’ll need the documentation prior to determining eligibility. Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼

im thinking about joining after i graduate and a recruiter recently got in touch with me and i want to actually go to a recruiting office however i dont want them to think im commiting yet as i am just getting information should i just continue to text or would i be able to actually go to the office without commiting?

@@heyimreck Hello, I too am waiting for the completion of my degree. I chose the Reserve at one point and completed all the required applications that were needed. Until I realized that the Reserve was not going to provide me with the MOS I truly desired. So now I had to stop and reverse back and now I am considering the Guard. But first I want to graduate and enter at a higher level as well. lol
