This is a tutorials series for anyone who wants to learn how to use the ARP-2600, either the Behringer, the Korg reissue, or the original! I've tried to break things down into small videos that are easy to mentally digest and apply to your own electronic music. We will be exploring both east coast tonal and west coast avant-garde uses of the synthesizer.
This twenty-ninth video shows how to make Pete Townsend's electric guitar sound from the song Who Are You by The Who. Please leave a comment with any questions or requests and a like if this was helpful.

Thank you. This is great fun to do, I'm a guitarist who got into synths a lot later and I always liked Pete Townshend's use of them so I really appreciate this.

Great! But Pete used it only in Intro and the interlude, not on the Refrain itself.. But you are on the right way to get that sound, try to make it more rhythmic 👏👏 But, respect ✊🏻 that’s a great video

I believe he did, though it may be mixed low or even muted for the chorus....the synth track would have to have been recorded first, as it was the metronome for the entire song.

It runs through all the track, but there is also an untreated (normal) guitar track as well

holy shit thanks for this education. were you using a triangle wave there?
@EthanJamesMusic1
@EthanJamesMusic1 2 года назад
yes, the triangle wave is the smoothest, but the sqaure/pulse wave can be used to create a more gated, percussive sound.

@@EthanJamesMusic1 slightly off-topic but a square wave on the VCA would maybe get you closer to "Won't get fooled again" territory, right?
@EthanJamesMusic1
@EthanJamesMusic1 2 года назад
@@julioerit yes for sure. There is also an LFO on the filter for that sound

Where do you find a cable from guitar to 1/8 inch input?

I got mine from the local eurorack store but you can also get them from the bigger online places. You need an unbalanced (TS) 1/4" to 1/8"
