My Brand New Book 'Hotel Tango 23: Responding To The Unknown' is available now: amzn.to/3zUwbqg In 2009, I was called to a job in Livery Rooms in Keighley where 8 people had been stabbed in the worst act of violence I have ever seen. In this video, I describe exactly what it was like, and the chaos that was unfolding around me. Thankfully, everybody who was injured made a full recovery.
Due to the high demand for these videos, I have set up a Patreon page. Your support goes towards the production of more content. My Patrons will have access to exclusive content!

I'm under a lot of mental strain myself with my family and work but this is nothing like your mental strain. Huge respect you Ben. I remember an Army Sgt giving first aid training once always used to tell me when you walk in the room. Ignore the ones screaming in pain because their alive and kicking go for the one who is in the corner not being verbal. Then attend to the other ones if they stop screaming. Had to use first aid a few times never anything like this obviously but had a guy heart attack on the street. Ben you are a legend never change. Respect few people to the degree I do you mate

Ive been having a think about your channel since about 3 previous videos ben and for me personally all i want from this channel is for one day for you ben pearson to be able to say the following i have recovered im ok. This of course will take time and i don't think you should ever apologise for not uploading every friday even if people really look forward to it. You will have good and bad days. What you are doing is a reflection of the man you are which is a selfless person. In my opinion that's why you did the job you did you selflessly choose to join the police. You sacrificed a lot and suffered a lot. This one really hit me hard for a couple of reasons i walk my dog past that weatherspoons a good few times a week and had no idea such a horrific incident had happened. I also suffer with schizophrenia myself. I will end this by saying ben people genuinely appreciate what you did in the past and still do today. Keep on going ben you have absolutely got this.

I believe we should all be read the big bag of worries by Virginia Ironside as children until we can understand it for ourselves. When I was in school we had a large assembly (large assembly being most of the school years) breaking down the key points of such a simple book so that our even simpler minds could understand it, myself and most of the kids in that seminar came out with a greater understanding of how to deal with our problems than some adults I see nowadays.

As an Ambo I have seen knife victims, (very nasty) controlling the bleeding and putting in an IV usually stabilises them. My colleague attended a scene a guy had been stabbed and the side of his chest cut open, exposing major organs, he could actually see this heart beating, the guy lived.

The most shocking aspect isn’t so much the stabbings - which were obviously horrific - but those two guys stood at the bar, drinks in hand - laughing at the blood bath around them. What type of person could allow themselves to behave so unbelievably appallingly ? Horrid bastards - that’s who. Guys with absolutely zero empathy for other folk - nasty sob’s. Overall this was a shocking story. Thank you 🙏 Ben for sharing more of your experience as a police intercepter. All your stories are fascinating - despite some of the more shocking revelations - but the public need to hear what you’ve experienced - and that’s why you need to keep uploading your stories. Cheers 🥂

Sweating watching this. Just an abysmal scene. I’ve been first aid trained but I think if I’d have been there I might have puked first before I’d have been any good for anything. I would, if I could have, tried to pack wounds and apply pressure as much as possible. People NEED to understand just how much the police go through on a daily basis.

Imagine having a underlying issue with someone in maximum security prison. And the police won't even alow you to visit to ask questions or even just say "I hate you"how do you sort them underlying issues? The only way is speaking to the scumbag in prison. I've spoke to mental health teams and police multiple times about the situation. And always get told by mental health I know the problems so I'm not mentally ill. And the police say they can't allow me to have the chat because of the nature of his crimes. Wtf do you do then with your mental health? Anyone about to help. I'm more than happy to give details of his crimes also if that would help with any advice.

I just watched “the Pursuit that haunts me” I agree with the pinned comment that the way you tell these stories is amazing! I really transport to where you were! (I’ve watched a fair few of your videos now). Would you consider doing a reading of your book sometime? I would absolutely love that. I listen to your videos whilst feeding my baby. One headphone in. I’ve never been the best at finding the same time to read a book). Just told my husband to check your channel out and I send links of videos to my eldest daughter (at uni) to send to her driving friends. I’m sure the awareness you are bringing to people will save lives and I’m very pleased it helps you deal with it all too. You’re a very strong person. Also my husbands friend is a Police Interceptor and you’ve made me wonder if he’s carrying a lot around in his backpack too! He’s a great guy also. Perhaps doing your job so well makes great people.

As an Ambo I never discuss (with civilians) the horrific scenes I have attended after a few months I felt I was becoming emotionally detached, ie I would just see it as a very specific clinical task rendering first aid, more experienced Ambos, advised me my response was normal, (your just becoming an Ambo) your initial shock of first seeing the horrific scene is being compartmentalised by you so you can effectively help the patients.

I remember getting shafted with constant obs in custody for a whole shift, with a Schizophrenic, and it was so bizarre. We had to shut the door due to the detainees manner.... He was up and down, one minute he was calm, and the next was walking backwards and forwards on his bed, and spitting water at anybody who came close to the hatch in the cell door....He was actually OK with me, but he had a thing for the Custody Sergeant, I cant repeat what he said, but the detainee was pretty spot on with his critique. lol

the main thing to take from this horrific tale is mental health. this happened in my family, a lot of fights an broken bones before the medical services would diagnosis paranoid schizophrenia. thank god my family are men who dont need weapons to fight or this could of easily happened. it took my family about three years to get my family member diagnosed then a four years to get the medication right, it's been over ten years with out incident, so touch wood. my family felt like the services didn't want to diagnose because it then becomes a problem they dont want on there books. hope things are better these days.

I used to work at the college and park my car in the car park behind Wetherspoons. I walked to my Car literally 2 minutes before this… how lucky was I …

You are absolutely right Ben, it's so important to destigmatise mental health. I will openly talk about being on antidepressants for the past 12 years. Often it's a chemical imbalance, and if your body can't maintain balance then it needs help, and that is what antidepressants do. It may take a little while for your health care professional to find the right treatment for you, but just because one didn't work or made you feel strange it doesn't mean they all will. And NEVER stop taking your prescription antidepressants without the guidance of your health care professional.
