Unboxed my new Kr8ton. This is the updated version. So it has the new rear chassis brace, radio, and no longer has the one chassis brace going from tower to tower. It now has two braces.
Good first look mate. Nice to hear someone with an eye for detail who cares about value and durability. When I drop my coin I want the truck to be reasonably durable. Too many RC trucks spend more time in the garage than the trail and the manufacturers use the customer for R&D (think 6s X Maxx). I really like my Kraton 8 (first version, braces on order). I run the 21 pinion, motor timing to max, punch to max. I run hard natural terrain and try to land smooth on the transition (enduro not SX!). The thing absolutely charges and is deceptively fast ( ie feels slow, but hauls past maxed out 1/8 scalers). Durable so far, bar a broken bell crank (jammed rock in the chassis) and front bumper. A arms seem very strong so far (50mph front wheel into a stone gatepost, no damage). Arrma have done a great job, this is an amazing truck (though it should have had the braces from first consignment). Enjoy yours, I'll follow your journey!
glad to see I am not the only person who is awe of this truck...sometimes I just can't help but stare at my Kraton 8S...such a wonderfully built truck.
I got the xmaxx 8s and it has been a blast but I just bought this kraton 8s yesterday, rode it today with a higher pinion gear and omg this thing hit 55mph. this is a beast 💪...i definitely don't regret spending the money. went to the hobby shop for the mojave but they did not have them yet and walked out with the Kraton. Awesome video my brother great review. 💯💯💯👍👍👍
I'm on the fence on getting one of these. Thanks for showing the new rear chassis brace. I wish I had a better understanding of how the two piece top brace is set up, but it looks like a significant improvement. It just got harder to resist. Thanks for your video.
I have a first release and don’t bash it. Had nothing but broken a arms. Looks like they changed the steering set up at the bell cranks. I ordered the new brace setup
I've had the truck a couple months now. After the first week, I changed the pinion to a 23, then a 25tooth, then changed the punch level to 5. Liked it a lot, now it has a Castle Mamba X 8s w/2028 motor and 45tooth pinion😮. I'm in luv with it now. The power it has now 😵 This is a great platform for Arrma. Hopefully you'll have a much fun with it as well👍🏿✌🏿
When you ran with the 25 tooth, did it cog a lot? Also did you have the v1 or v2? I'm assuming you had the stock electronics in it with the 23 and 25 tooth.
Very nice pick up bro. I'm more of a MT platform guy. One reason I have two xmaxx 8s vehicles 🤣. I run a maxx 6 esc with Duratrax lock ups and 50/20 gearing. Running the 1600kv motor on 8s. Plenty fast and fun for me 👍
Don't change battery connectors. The XT90's are still a better connector. Just pick up a set of XT90 to EC5 connectors. If you upgraded your motor, you will need to run something like XT150 or better. But then again, if you run a Max5, XLX, or MGM, the Smart stuff is out anyway. I just installed a Lehner 2280/6 and kept the Max5. A really nice combo and it does wheelies on the drop of a hat, but runs cool as a sea breeze. A quick note on the bent chassis. I had mine bend after a week. Sent it back and they shipped me out a new truck as well as all the upgrade parts to make it a "1.5". I did not abuse it and I was a massive defender of the 8S when the world went on a hate rampage - but mind did bend after a run in a part with few jumps. It simply had a design flaw. Nothings since. I have also done some upgrades as most of us do, but with stock power, it is a good rig. The motor is a Hobbywing, just a custom KV for Arrma. It's the same as the one in the small Max6 combo. You might think that you want to keep the chassis, but if you do upgrade anything, start there. It is for all intended purposes the weakest link. There's a lot of stuff you can do which I consider bling or nice but not necessary - but the chassis is not one of them, The M2C chassi IS in fact a piece that makes a difference.
Nobody has mentioned it but having come from 1/8 buggies.. i notice another simple & cheap part missing.. this should have also came with rubber /silicone shock cover/booties
Curious to know if that re branded Maxx 6 will handle a 1100kv Hobbywing ... ?? From the video's I have seen , the 800Kv is not that impressive ... the 1100Kv from hobbywing is THE ONE TO GET ...crazy fast and powerful combo. I think the TQ from the 800kv is not needed on this 23lb truggy and the RPM is so low that you have to run a 50 tooth to get the speed you want ... the Losi on the other hand is well over 30lbs or 50% heavier so the TQ is needed.
Would be nice if they would cut to the quick ... a MAXX5 with a 1100KV Hobbywing , save us the extra money after we already spent $900 OR offer it as a roller... for $600. We need more Rollers as many of us already have what we need or will be removing the stock power immediately upon purchase , only to try and pawn it off on eBay
I’m an amateur with r/c and in no way want to spend this much money on a truck at this point but man this truck makes me want to break out my emergency credit card. Lol.
But they are built like a large toy, that’s why I haven’t bought one . That’s why I have a Super Baja Rey. It’s built like an actual truck. With a roll cage, bolted on body. The way the body clips on with the body clips and the way everything just floats around inside. It’s a isn’t toy. Not a real “vehicle”. They look kinda cool though.
