This is our Arrow Video blu-ray collection, which includes standard release blu-rays, limited edition steelbooks and box sets. We've also included BRoll unboxings so that you can see the contexts of the box sets and the reversible artwork!
Welcome to our first ever video on our new channel Amateur Filmies! We're Sarah and Matt and this will be the first of hopefully many videos where we discuss a variety of things stemming from our love of film. In the future, we'll have movie reviews, collection overviews of different labels, top 10 lists, movie analyses and general discussions, among many other types.

They had a warehouse sale at the end of 2019 and I ended up buying 38 releases on sale, lol. Safe to say, I'm an Arrow fan now.

Dayum dude that is a fantastic haul! Funnily enough, we went pretty crazy on that Arrow sale as well (although we got it from Zavvi during a buy one get one free deal). We actually picked up a similar amount to you! Seems like we're definitely both huge Arrow fans haha. Our next video should be showing off what we got during that sale so if you're interested definitely stay tuned!

Just getting into arrow video myself. I’m over in the USA so finding the region 1 variants can be a little daunting. I love the way they look and all the extras they add. Great collection you two!

They're definitely a great label and are one of our favourites to collect. Totally understand about the region 1 limitations - one way to get around it is to buy a cheap region free blu-ray player which is what we did because we wanted to be able to buy from US labels like Criterion and Scream Factory. Not sure what brands specifically are available in the US (we got a Laser Blu BD3000) but they're a worthy investment in my opinion. However Arrow does end up releasing a lot of titles in the US after some time so that is an option too! Thanks so much for watching, we're glad you enjoyed the video! :)

I have recently downsized my house so space is now limited, I have to be careful what I buy as I will run out of space 🙈 other companies I like are hdzeta and blu fans, I have a few really nice lenticular sets from these but they can be expensive. At the moment here in the uk Zavvi have been doing a buy one get one free on arrow titles so I have bought a few good titles.

Love the video. For the first one you started with, I'm really impressed that you didn't get the jitters like I did 2 years ago when I launced my channel which I'm unfortunate to say hasn't gone very well. It's a sign that you'll go very far in the community. Well done to you both, you're definitely worth a sub from me.

We started this channel because we wanted an outlet to be able to talk about movies and with people such as yourself😊 It's been great that this community has been very receptive of our channel, and we always appreciate hearing from everyone and watching other people's videos. Fantastic collection. Arrow is my favourite label. I'm jealous of the City of the Living Dead boxset, I don't own it and it's my favourite Italian Zombie movie. Do you normally watch movies with the subtitles on?.

Thank you, and they're definitely my favourite label as well. Love their artwork, extras, design of the box sets and of course the movies themselves. City of the Living Dead is great, really enjoyed that one. I think The Beyond or Zombie Flesh Eaters might be my favorite Italian zombie movie. As for the subtitles, we try to watch them without but we currently live in a busier household so sometimes its easier to have them on so we don't miss any dialogue

Thank you so much! Really appreciate the compliments. We thought that other collectors might like to see what's in the boxes and to see the reversible art because Arrow's releases are so extensive and well designed. Also, thanks for the sub, we're very keen to see what video you put out next as well :) I agree for sure, the Scarlet Box and Zombie Flesh Eaters steelbook are easily up there with some of my favorites in the whole collection, such great movies too. What are some of your favorites from the Hellraiser franchise? And have you checked out some any of the sequels to Zombie Flesh Eaters?

@@amateurfilmies8844 no problem, it was an amazing first video, yeh so much goodness to enjoy from arrow video, i watched the first 3 hellraiser films at the cinema and part 1 is my fave, part 2 is fun and iike part 3 but i think part 4 is overlooked and needs more love on blu-ray, its better than part 3 for me, yeh i have ZFE 2 & 3 but i think compared to part 1 there pretty crap really, not a big fan at all, stick to the original and best zombie film ever for me 😎👍

@@forestoldboy Thank you, and yeah I haven't seen any at the cinema but would love to see it at one of those Retro nights that local cinemas sometimes do, Hellraiser on the big screen would have been great. And I totally agree about number 4, I think a lot of people don't give it a chance but there are some good aspects of it for sure. You're absolutely right about ZFE 2 and 3, nothing beats the first. Although I will admit that ZFE 2 is a guilty pleasure of mine haha :) Speaking of Lucio Fulci, I'm actually watching Cat in the Brain tonight for the first time, have you seen it by any chance?

@@amateurfilmies8844 yeh cat in the brain is a strange one, i did enjoy it a lot and great to see fulci acting in it, i was lucky enough to be able to see the hellraiser films at the cinema on original release (yep i was 17 when hellraiser came out in the u.k. in 87) even tho i was not 18, im so glad i did 😎👍

@@forestoldboy Cat in the Brain ended up being a trip haha, thought it was good fun and agree that it was an interesting change of pace to see Fulci on the screen. I don't remember being able to see many R18 movies at the cinema in Australia because most of the R18 movies in America or elsewhere end up being MA15+ here. However I do remember convincing the people at the cinema that I was 18 when I went to watch Saw VII back in 2011 (I was 17 at the time). Definitely not as cool as seeing Hellraiser though!

Don’t get me wrong, I love Audition, One Missed Call and the Happiness of the Katakuri’s, I just can’t bring myself to watch some of his other films that have heaps of sexualised violence, it’s a bit much.

So are The Limited editions only ones to come with posters?

Hey there! For the most part yes, although there still are some limited edition box sets that don't come with posters. Most of them do but there are some exceptions. However, I think some of the more recent editions which get released with a slipcover on the initial print run do sometimes include a poster inside as well. Hope that helps!

Thanks! And no we only have the one copy of Lifeforce and it's the steelbook. I'm actually not 100% sure that the regular edition ever came with a slipcover? Sorry not sure. Thanks for watching! :)

Thank you! And yeah I've seen that absolute beast haha. It was already OOP by the time I started collecting Arrow but it is one that interests me. The design of the box sets ("cereal" box looking one and the Shock and Gore box set limited to 500) are incredible and it's great that it includes so many films. Wish I could have grabbed one of the sets before they went out of print because they both go for a lot of money now.

Apologies if this sounds ignorant, but I'm genuinely curious as to why having subtitles on a couple of English Language films are a necessity?

Paulaka not a necessity, just a personal preference. We do eat some pretty loud snacks 😂 but in all seriousness we do live in a pretty busy house so we like to have them on just in case we mishear dialogue.

Blu ray player we use is the Laser Blu BD3000 and a lot of the films you can buy on Zavvi as well

Yeah I did! Sarah and I actually ended up really enjoying it. I hadn't watched many of Fulci's giallos at that point so we I didn't know what to expect but I think it's definitely one of his better films. Certainly top 10 at the very least :)
