It's weird that "we have to put a black person on the moon" just because they're black. That is literally the reason Victor Glover has been chosen. America doesn't even realise how racist it is when decisions are by a person's skin colour. Stop it America. Just stop it. And choose people based on merit, not DNA nor woke political correctness!

@@DirkShotojima Victor was chosen based on merit though. He’s a navy test pullout and flew on dragon crew 1. Him and Christina both have more time in space and more EVA time then Reid wiseman the commander.

@Blake Kaveny That's because of the Canadian thing though, NASA was always giving their limited available seats to Americans first. If you look at Reid's experience he's paid his dues and been in the Astronaut corps a long time and has performed as successful capcom numerous times. It's literally the reason he was given command, there just wasn't a spare seat before for a Canadian, not since Chris Hadfield. Check Reid out he's been a workhorse at CSA and for NASA. Literally - the only reason Victor Glover has been fast tracked is because of his racial profile. Ridiculous. I'm not saying he's not good. Just that he has only been chos3n because he is black!

Since NASA decided a woman was going no matter the qualifications, this mission has turned into nothing but a diversity box checking exercise. We have no way of knowing if these 4 are the 4 best qualified or not. I’m sure there are qualified women in the program, but you toss out your credibility and theirs when you make the announcement before you even have a candidate list based on credentials.
@DirkShotojima
@DirkShotojima Год назад
If you look into their credentials, you'll see they are very qualified. 'The woman" - Christina Koch, has flown to space numerous times and holds the record for the woman with the most continuous days spent in space, she's also completed 6 spacewalks successfully. She's highly qualified. To your point though, Victor Glover has been chosen simply because of his skin colour, which is absolutely ridiculous that the US in trying to hit it's diversity quota chose him simply for that reason. While he is capable and trained, he only went into space once. And that was only very recently. He's being pushed to the front of the queue because he's black. Highly highly racist against other astronauts who are more qualified and have paid their dues!
@weljenks
@weljenks Год назад
Seriously, that’s all you can think about? The astronaut moon crew was exclusively the domain of military trained white men for the entirety of its existence. NASA is trying to also inspire others in a way that wouldn’t be possible by replicating the all white male crews of the past who were protected from non biased competition. I suspect that means more to them than the personal feelings of some astronauts who feel they are more deserving. I’m pretty sure none of NASA’s decisions are made or have been made on a perfectly verifiable checklist of objective merit. Every NASA astronaut is capable of being on that mission, and they chose individuals that represent all of the objectives and ideals they want to accomplish and convey to the public. But go ahead, wallow in your ignorance and bigotry.

@@DirkShotojima Christina Koch by your own logic is also a 'line-jumper' as she finished her mission (which while remarkable is her only flight to date) just 6 months before Glover started his first, and Glover has twice the spacewalk time that Wiseman has too. Flying again this soon was very common during the Mercury/Gemini/Apollo days. In my opinion, having astronauts that have flown not too long ago on the first of a series of missions like this isn't at all a bad idea. All three Apollo 11 astronauts had just 3 years between 11 and their previous missions. Of the 18 astronauts allocated to the Artemis program, one flew the same Expedition as Glover (Rubins), six of them flew after Victor Glover (Chari, Barron, Lindgren, Watkins, and Mann), two are in space at this moment (Rubio and Hoburg), one is to go to space later this year (Moghbeli), and two are assigned to ISS flights in 2024 (Dominick and Tingle). This leaves but six people who have yet to have been assigned some other flight since the flight of Victor Glover in late 2020. You subtract Glover and Koch from this list (Wiseman was not part of the original list of candidates) you only have FOUR Artemis NASA astronauts post-Artemis 2. To add, Meir had a flight end in 2020 alongside Koch's. Even with an international addition on each, either way, you only make it through Artemis 4 without seeing any repeats. He essentially had three 1-in-6 chances once we take all those people out. So, tell me again about being pushed to the front of the line just because you're black.

@@zackboone15 Actually nasa has come out and said that theirs 52 Artemis astronauts. All 42 active nasa astronauts and 10 foreign ones.
