I’m currently on my 4th pair of GT2000. Every time I switch to a different, more high end, shoe, I end up getting the same annoying, painful knee injury that takes me months to get over. Therefore the GT2000 will always be my favorite running shoe, since it seems to be the shoe that actually allows me to run and do what I love. I hope they will one day make a mix of a Novablast and a stability shoe 😊

Seth, Just a little suggestion for your consideration. On your 'other shoes to buy page', I understand it is ranked from the most preferred shoes from the top to the bottom. You may like to slot in a line (can be in smaller font) of where the shoes you are reviewing into the line up so we will know where it stands, compared to the others.

I love how these shoes feel on foot. Cushioning is more than what I would prefer, but this is way better than the maximalist cushioning trend right now. The upper feels good too. Less will always be more(better). 👌🏽

Over 20 years ago I was curious how the gel looked like, so I cut the shoe open. The gel was just a tiny ring.

Being someone that suffers from a lot of foot injuries ASICS are my one and only choice to keep me going especially as Im getting older so Ive had a long period of running with ASICS going on over 3 decades. With that said Ive come to the understanding that yes EVA foam has gotten better however is compresses and wears out much faster than the gel soles. My gel ASICS seem to last much more miles were most other shoes would not have been able to get to those miles. They also say running shoes should be replaced every 3 months but I dont see that the case with ASICS. Some of my ASICS soles have lasted years with hundreds of miles on them.

Depends on how important the event is. Exams and peak races yes, up till months in advance. What to eat, maybe only 5 minutes before lunch.

I guess Asics will stick to the Gel in their classic linup cause customers reach for Asics just because it's always been the Gel cushion. Like some runner want Nike because 'it has Air pockets'. They don't want to loose customers to other brands.

I’ve been running in the GT 2000 for almost 10 years now. Switched this year to try the Novablast on your recommendations, but had to go back to a new pair of GT 2000. The Novablast was just too much stack height for me and not enough stability. I actually developed a Morton’s neuroma in my foot too.

Hi there! Hope you're better. Was it the Novablast 1 or 2? I am thinking about switching from the Kayanos to the Novablast 2 (which suposedly added more stability features), but I'm afraid it wont be enough for my heel.

@@yakdudu Better now. It was the 1. I use it still every once in awhile for easy short runs. Great comfort but no real support with that high stack height.

Hi Seth - ASICS introduced Gel a year or two after Nike introduced the AirPods in their lineup. I always felt it was just a competitive answer to a patented great idea. Running in the winters in Minnesota where the air temperatures for Jan/feb can be below zero f, most shoes of the day with EVA turned to bricks after about 45 minutes of running. The Nike AirPods kept their shoes more responsive in those temps….the Gels not so much. With the elimination of the old EVA, today’s new foams stay more true to form…..and I have been trying the different foams in cold temps this year….the gels and AirPods aren’t needed so much…..come on Hoka:-)

Agree with Tim. I actually remember when ASICS introduced the gel as well. And remember the Saucony Grid at all Tim (and other viewers)? Circa 1993/4

From what I've heard foam and gel do 2 different things. One is shock attenuation and the other is cushioning. Supposedly it spreads the force of impact out to different parts of the foam. But when you take the shoe apart it seems the gel part is very minimal. Maybe it's just marketing hype and sport pseudoscience.

What's a good runner from Asics that has good breathability? I like the Asics for my feet. I like this shoe a lot for my power walks/interval runs.

I won a pair of version 10's about 2 months ago. They don't have too much pop and I'm trying to limit my runs to ~10km to avoid injury (because I'm not used to stability shoes as this is my first pair). My plan going forward is to go on up to 4 runs a month in them to work different muscles. I think that they will have very good durability and I could see them holding up for ~4 years it will take to reach my general shoe mileage goal of 1000 miles per pair.

QOD: it depends on what I’m planning as to how in depth I will get with prep/planning…..but I’m the type of person that the wheels are always spinning and I always try to have some kind of tiered game plan for just about everything in life.

I just got these on sale for $80 (as there is a new model out as I post this). I just wanted decent shoes for being on my feet on concrete all day, and I didn’t want to pay $130-$170. I have pretty normal/neutral feet, so hopefully these are just comfortable and somewhat durable at my job. Don’t plan on running in them AT ALL.

@@ClassyGameRacer I wouldn’t say the toe area is NARROW necessarily, but they aren’t SUPER wide either. I typically wear a size 11 tennis shoe, and for some brands I have to get a 10 1/2…. But I got these in 11 and they seem to fit me PERFECTLY (with some wiggle room for my toes). Again, I have pretty average feet, so I’m not sure if they will fit the same if you have really wide feet… but they seem to be pretty great for me so far!! They are REALLY light-weight with plenty of heel support. I have a pair of Nike “training” shoes, and they fit similarly to those expect the Asics have a LITTLE more toe room. These Asics are similar to the Nikes in the fact that the mid foot isn’t crazy wide (it hugs the mid foot nicely, but isn’t uncomfortable to me). Take my opinion with a grain of salt tho. I don’t buy tennis shoes very often, so it’s hard for me to make comparisons to other brands. Overall, they were TOTALLY worth the $80 I spent. If you have really wide feet, they might not be for you (but I could be wrong). You could always buy them, get them delivered, and try them on walking around the house. Worst case scenario- you send them back for a refund. Good luck!!

I did the same and I love them! First Asics pair of shoes in a long time and wow! I got the 11.5 2E and I'm a bigger guy, but these shoes hold up awesome!

That 2000 10 is classic do it all shoe that reminds me of the glory days circa 2007-2009 before I got sucked into the Lunarglide... then dumped by Nike. Like @Ralletoft, it's better to have a shoe that keeps you running than using these experimental shoes that get you injured. Consistency makes you faster.

I found them stiff even for a stability shoe and despite having ample cushion still felt too firm with no give I went with the nimbus 24 instead way more comfortable

In that case I give my GT2000's a break and run in the Gel Kayano Lite. It's incredibly comfortable and great for long runs, my go to for marathons.

I have always had stability shoes, also the Asics GT2000 v9, but I'm wondering if I can run in a neutral racing shoe, like a carbon shoe. Any suggestions?

If you’re going to pick a carbon shoe I would recommend the Hokas; I’ve heard from many people they are the most stable carbon shoe

I have flat feet so for a long time I ran in ASICS, specifically the GT 2000s. Last year I picked up a pair of Alphaflys, I’ve put some miles on them and haven’t had any problems, the furthest I’ve run in them was a half marathon and my feet felt fine afterwards. In my opinion you can get away with it just not everyday every run, and you have to make sure to roll out your feet and take care of them.

ASICS are irritating me as they won’t release these shoes in Europe. I’ve asked them twice now, when are they coming, they don’t know 🤷‍♂️. They were released in the US in Sept. These are my go to shoes, still running the 9’s!

Same here, I have been waiting for them to be released in Europe all this time and asked Asics twice, just like you. The second time I asked was just last week and I got the same reply as you, they don't know about any plans. Now miraculously the GT 2000 10 just appeared on the Asics website (online shop) yesterday, without any announcement or anything, just like that... This is the German Asics website, maybe they are available in your country now as well? There was no announcement or add or anything on the website, they just appeared in the online shop... Maybe the delay is due to all these supply chain problems due to Covid etc. I don't know, I just heard from a retailer that they get in shoes differently and later than usual...

Foam shoes are trash. Running shoes are turning into garbage nowadays. They don't make em like them used to. This review sucked. Really not informative, just gibberish.
