In this video I compare the Asics Metaspeed Edge Paris and the Asics Metaspeed Edge by running on a track and comparing the two shoes by analysing my Stryd Footpod data.
I did some running threshold running in both shoes and compare what I find to be two very different shoes

Watching this video with some delay but as always I have enjoyed the content. I personally do not like very high stack shoes on the track. The track surface is also providing some bounce and combination is not always nice for me. For that reason, for my track workouts, I choose slightly firmer and lower stack shoes. Brooks Hyperion Tempo and Adidas Takumi Sen 8 are typically my go to shoes on the track at the moment. 5 years ago they were not exactly low stack shoes but by today's standards they are.

Really interesting analysis. I know I TRY to not compare Stryd between different shoes (too many variables), but find it very informative when plotted for the same pair of shoes overtime. I suspect this might be why you went with pace over power as the metric for this test. Still not sold on the Stryd Duo setup (for me), maybe eventually they will be able to drag out more value with software updates. If I was struggling with left/right leg issues I'd have already switched to the Duo. But after over a year working at a standing desk, it seems to have really balanced out my legs.

It is really difficult to narrow down the variables. There is a lot of wind in Dublin as it is beside the sea and there was a headwind on one straight on the track and then a tailwind on the other. I find it easier to run to a pace rather than a power in that situation. I was hoping for a little more with the Duo. Oddly the metrics don't indicate the stride length. A bigger issue for me is the tiny size of the map makes it really difficult to segment out the metrics for bends v straights...nearly bought a standing desk lst year, still on the to do list...

Trying to get more consistent pacing between the different shoes. Worked well this time… might do some more on the track…

Great review, two questions. Is the plate in the Edge Paris more flexible than in the Edge Plus? I have the Edge Plus and Sky Plus. I am a heel striker and slow runner and the Sky Plus works for me for shorter distance because I feel like I have a speed bump under the metatarsal every step but Edge Plus is perfect. I think because the Edge Plus has lower drop and different plate placement. I am worried about the SIMILAR DROP of both Paris models?

The one shoe in the set I don't have is the Edge+. So I cannot accurately answer. I did tempos in the Sky+ yesterday and was wondering if they felt a bit flat, or was it me, but then the previous day I was bouncing around the track for this test. It was likely me. The Edge Paris and Sky Paris are very similar, largely due to the same stack, drop and upper, with for me, a slightly different running feel. Prefer both to the Sky+ and am impressed with the weight saving.
