It's specifically because he's young he thinks that. He hasn't had as much life experience when it comes to politics. We absolutely should take example from the French. They stand up for themselves against their government. Teenagers protest, adults protest, people go and get their elderly relatives from care homes, to bring them out to protest 😂 Whilst there still might be an abundance of French jokes involving white flags. Look at the resistance the PEOPLE gave to German occupied France. Their citizens realise that they DO have power over their government. It just takes enough people to protest, riot and commit acts of civil disobedience to force their hand.
When you work full time and can’t afford to save for a house of your own cause half your income goes on paying someone else’s mortgage u know there’s a problem.
In the "Recession Joe Biden" economy local businesses are feeling the pressure from higher food prices - seeing them double, sometimes triple what they used to be. Just another let's go Brandon moment
There is a perfect storm forming in America. Inflation, sever drought in the farm belt, the pandemic, food shortages, diesel fuel and heating fuel shortages, baby formula shortage, shortage of and price of available cars, the price of housing. It's all coming together and could lead to real disaster toward the end of this year.(or sooner)
As the economic crisis keep rising, one needs to have different streams of income, a well detailed diversified investment portfolio in the financial markets is needed to survive, as well as secure a profitable investment future.
Weymouth needs the ferry back, a pleasure pier again, a water park & bigger theme park alongside Sea-life centre. Tourism is Weymouth's history, present & future.
@@tazpoochie In them days the longer you signed on for the more you got paid , my dad had to pay his way out . Also the mental illness in the forces after decades of doing what your told by the same shit politicians that put you in the position where joining the forces seemed the only option is terrible .
Everything that they're saying of Weymouth, a town I've visited and enjoyed many times, is true of many(most) coastal towns. My home town of Scarborough is almost identical. Lots of people retire here from the northern cities but they don't spend anything or really contribute much other than stressing the underfunded hospital. I'm the only person of my cohort of friends from school who still lives in the town. It's sad and the decline is becoming irreversible. Excellent not to have a London-centric views and opinions.
I love Scarborough. When my kids were younger we would have a mini-break there every year! A pity more people dont do likewise to bring some money into the town! Its probably full of sewage now cos of the dodgy water companies. The levelling up funds were pathetic but the government has just given the water companies £1.6 Billion! Everything is so messed up.
Patriarchy 😂😂. The moneyed classes have been raking it in and hoarding and protecting it all. Look at tax havens and politician corruption- patriarchy 🤦
Maybe if Dorset hadn’t overwhelmingly voted to leave the EU the young guy at the beginning of the video would have been able to go find work and/or affordable studies and accommodation in another European country?
That's what I did from the North East in 1986. 34 years in France now (via Saudi Arabia). Young people are now TRAPPED on Prison Island 🏝️🇬🇧. Well done Brexit-voters 👏👏👏.
I've been buying all my clothing and a lot of household items at thrift stores and garage sales here in the states. Even though I could afford to I'm not willing to pay the price of new
God's waiting room. But seriously people in this country lack vim and anger about what has happened in the last few years. But if there was a law affecting pets there would be rioting on the streets.
@zahr Music most people are blaming the ever rising cost of living and cusumer goods on the fact immigrants are coming over in dingys??😂😂 Are you okay?
You can always spot an embaressed tory voter by the line "tory, labour, they are both the same!" no balls to own the fact they voted and caused these issues!!!
Well starmer is basically a torie he's literally thrown out all the left people who support labour strike or peace like some sort of head boy in the dorm of eton. Labour were different before Blair and they had a chance to be different under corbyn but they seem as disinterested in genuine issues. As detached from reality. They are just conservatives while tories have become radical right wing.
Or people just dont like political parties, how brainwashed must you be to comment such tosh. Not everyone buys into your culture war BS and sees politics for what it is.
@Jo Bloggs He was a crap leader. Should have had Burnham, he is at least more trustworthy than Starmer. Corbyn’s biggest downfall was the fact he wasn’t able to reach the centrists. Starmer will most likely achieve that but he doesn’t have the radical policies that go with it.
The biggest issue in Dorset is the council, everyone knows it. Weymouth just won the bid for £20 million in 'levelling up'. Nobody is under any illusion that this money will be spent well and actually improve the economic prospects of the town.
These voxpops from across the country are both deeply insightful and incredibly infuriating. For all the diagnosis of the problems, almost no one can see any solution, and no one believes either main political party will -- or can -- do anything to change things. There's a total absence of political vision or sense of root causes... It's like watching farm animals complain about conditions on the farm, but with no concept of the farmer, land owner and customers that keep things like they are.
Interesting analogy - but what would you do to try to change this for the better…? What is it that people could collectively try to do to improve things…?
It's frustrating isn't it, when he said who he voted for it sounded like the punchline of a joke. It's like when someone said that they weren't going to vote for Corbyn because he wanted to end food bank usage. Not understanding that he wanted to end the need for food banks!
I bet his parents are the sort of people who, when he was a child pulled him closer whenever they saw a homeless person on the street and told him "Don't talk to them. They're druggies" and I bet he he bullied free school meal kids at school.
if 49.9% of your area voted for brexit - you're a victim, look what those nasty brexit people did to you. if 50.1% of your area voted brexit - you ARE one of the nasty brexit people and are responsible whatever way you actually voted. hope you suffer.
Moved to Bournemouth, up the road, in 2017. Within 2 years I'd had enough. It simply wasn't the same charming place that it used to be. Homeless people, people shooting up in parks, violence, closed shops. And then Covid hit, and made the situation even worse.
3:48 fascinating to see people of the older generation starting to realise that having fewer people living here who are willing to do jobs like driving buses is going to impact directly on them. The hospital she was going to probably has a lot of vacancies too. Luckily her generation spearheaded the totally sensible policy of Brexit and wants less immigration, so I'm sure these things will get better over time. FML.
Weymouth (and Portland) are very Labour/Green. XR are huge down here - that guy who tied himself to Everton's goalposts is from here. Its the Dorset countryside that swings us Tory
Hello Weymouth, from Greymouth NZ. Maybe its the name. Our town's the same. Closed shops and dying econimy, old boys on the council lining their pockets and that of their mates. At least we have bush and ocean i guess.
That IT guy with the vape, now is the time to literally work from anywhere, so many companies are sill working from home and saving themselves a fortune that if you are any good you'll have no problem working from anywhere. No need to move to London to work for London anymore.
@@empressdoinalot I've been fully remote at every job I've had in the tech industry for the past 6 years. You really don't need to go into an office ever if you don't want to
@@drunkensailor112 for you maybe, it works perfectly for me as I gain an extra 5 hours at least of my own time back per week. I can talk to people as and when I want to and I can concentrate better as and when I need to. I can pause work for a an hour or so if I need to sort a personal errand and make it up whenever I want which means I don't need to waste leave where I would have had to in the past. There are many many benefits to working from home and not many downsides at all.
As someone who lives there it has always been a great place to retire or bring up kids but not for any great career. Along with Portland next door it is a second home territory and beautiful in the summer so that props it up. It's council tax banding is one of the highest in the country aswell and the house prices have massively jumped up over the last 8years. Just needs fresh ideas and incentives from the council for businesses to start.

Some of interactions were some of the most insightful I have heard, very considered and nuanced, . The people are not the problem they seem educated and switched on. Sad that so many areas are suffering from a lack of long term investment, the decline has been going on for 40 +years. Usual issues younger people can't afford to live in the area and have to move out and then you have an imbalance in age demographics.
@@chrishall7915 sadly not quite the english reviera anymore . my ideal place to live would be by or nea a lake in a cabin where it is spring / summer all year round . can dream why not at least its something thats free .
A bit naive though politically. Hes one of those dreaded people who will always vote Conservative no matter what they do.
When i bought my first property 30 years ago it was more or less 2 times my annual salary , now that has risen certainly in my part of the country to 4 times , thats for a basic starter house, in London and the south in general I suspect that figure is 10 times, what chance do the younger people of this country have of making a decent life for themselves? I know the London figure is factual as I have compared my professional role in both London and Lancashire, guess what, they both pay the same yet housing is at an totally unaffordable price in the south, especially London. Firstly I would say anyone struggling in the London area should consider selling up and moving north, younger people with good qualifications should consider getting out of the country altogether , this country is a prime example of wealth not being distributed equally, its a damning indictment of previous governments especially the Tory party , we have become a poor nation with little prospect for change, totally mis managed at the highest level. In twenty years time we are heading for a pension timebomb, because everyday items are so expensive a smaller percentage are putting money away for pensions, it is impossible for many people to save money which just isnt there, wages have stagnated while raw essentials have rocketed, the number of people relying on state benefits will be overwhelming, a bleak picture, certainly we are heading back to Victorian times.
The UK has a crisis of not enough housing, ultimately that is the reason why things are so bad in terms of cost of living, there are also problems with transport. Faster rail links in and out of London and construction of massive swaths of housing around London (expanding London itself as controversial as it may be) and expanding the commuter towns in Kent, Surrey etc this has to be done if things are to get better.
There is remote working but many organisations will insist that you spend 50% of your working hours physically in an office. Basically a great number of tory donors have bought up large amounts of office space that they rent out. If true remote working came into place, they would lose hundreds of thousands of pounds.
This is the kind of dystopia you get when you have a large demographic of non-productive pensioners with widespread support for Brexit and a drying-up of EU funds replaced by empty Tory promises.
I grew up in weymouth. I was there for 30 years. I dont live there anymore because i couldn't afford to live there. The town is taking a huge nose dive. Good to see businesses opening around the area our of town.
In all honesty it's like a bread crumb nation. Put crumbs in the middle of a towel and lift it from the Centre. The crumbs go to the side. That's literally what's happened to the UK. Unlike other European nations and North America there is only really 'one' city and that's London. Anyone who believed in the 'Northern Powerhouse' marketing probably would of faired better watching the Full Monty in Sheffield.
Inflation is from one place and one place only, it has its source & origin in Government printing Cash and distributing this through so-called quantitative easing. Governments have only one option to stop inflation they must "bring in the Cavalry" the cavalry is INTEREST RATES ! ! This is to bring in & harness the money supply, but Governments must also reduce spending. If Inflation is measured at 10% then Interest rates must be raised to above this, say 12% or perhaps 14% for a short time. After some years once Inflation has been controlled and brought down, interest rates can be normalised to something like 7% 8% or 9% this is normal, what we have right now is still an abnormal interest rate, 4% base rate is an abnormal and it is an emergency rate. Once any Government begins this policy (and the USA have not yet begun) it will soon "expose" their statistics as true or not, that is if Governments say Inflation is 10% but actually it is 15% then an interest rate up to 12% will not deal with inflation . . . Governments get exposed
We have a lot of people in the US, old and young, moving out, ex-patting themselves to other countries like Mexico, Central America, Thailand, China, places that aren't suffering from the poverty caused by monopoly capitalism and US Imperialism, places that offer healthcare as a human right and where free speech still exists.
Unfortunately, a shortsighted government that has no awareness of its idiotic ideas and consequences is offering no solutions. On top of this, the local governments have little creativity to kick start these areas. The solutions that are offered are often old ideas that failed before and will fail again. Shops close due to changes in culture around shopping, so creativity is needed to reestablish new demand; paving high streets to encourage shoppers hasn't worked. Entertainment is still based on outdated ideas that fail to attract users and new custom. Towns like this all over the country need to work towards being centres of life and not satellites of those larger towns that attract all the investment.
No everything is underfunded so everything is breaking, dismantling the welfare state has let many to destitution so there is no money to pump into local economy and consequently no jobs which leads to further cuts ad infinitum
It's funny everyone commenting how rubbish the government is... but what you gonna do about it? Venting online won't change anything. You lot ain't the French enough to start rioting. You're not fanatic enough to be assassins. What's the solution?
On the level ground, the angle of elevation of the top of a tower is 30°.on moving 20 meters nearer, the angle of elevation is 45°.Then the height of the tower (in meters)is #laughingly #toriesdestroytheuk #enoughisenough
Join the forces, young man. I hope you get in and make it. Cheap housing, food at the scoff House and less than ideal pay but its a good career. And that woman who said, seaside towns are for older people is not lying. I understand the bus problems after my stint as a student in Norfolk. Nice beach Weymouth, I have to say.
@edmund blackadder coc my boyfriend puts his life on the line for this commonwealth cause he came from elsewhere. That's why I said being the forces can be a good because I know what I'm talking about.
@@empressdoinalot Your boyfriend is a few months away from being sent to get shot in a field fighting the Russians. You couldn’t pay me any amount of money to convince me to join the British Armed Forces. It is not a good career. Not because the soldiers aren’t brave or their service not admirable, but because a posh Tory Etonian would decide when your life would be over.
Older generations voted Brexit because of a feeling of the good old days. Remember the 70s and 80s. People went to Germany to work or end up on the dole., Britain has voted for sanctions on themselves. These people are right, older people retiring to seaside towns driving young people away.
"Yes the tories messed up for a great number of years but I'm not 100% convinced Labour will do a whole lot better so I'll continue voting for the conservatives".
Really easy to fix most of our problems. Re-join the single market to fix the economy. Invest in infrastructure and our services to fix the needs of people. Tax fairly and close the loopholes for of shoring money, made here by big firms and highest earners. Invest in young peoples education and provide options for them to do a trade via apprenticeships. Stop blaming our problems on others, the EU of people in dingys.... Its our systems and bronken tax regulation that needs fixing.
