This is why I agree 100% with The Game Awards on his award. Multiple actors were stellar in their performances in BG3, like Shadowheart's and Lae'Zel's, etc etc, but Astarion was always so unpredictable all the way, even though personally maybe not my favourite. It's astonishing this game has such overwhelmingly good performances, I can see the characters as though I've lived with them IRL :)

Considering Shadowheart's dual nature... It makes sense.

@@grizzlyadamblack I think they do it for “free choice” for the players - so the players can romance anyone they want. But at the same time, it’s makes the characters feel a bit disingenuous and unbelievable.

@@Eddison33 honestly, it's kind of a problem in BG3 too. "You were nice to me therefore we are now dating." Like Wyll, I barely said anything to him, all of a sudden he wants to dance. And good grief, Lae'zel. I haven't taken her on a single mission yet, barely said two words to her, and the first time I have a real conversation with her, it's a graphic description of what she wants to do with me.

@@cryofpaine It's a true problem indeed. Larians claim to fix it or trying to fix it. The threshold for starting a romance with a companion was too low. But I think the entire approach is flawed - gaining much reputation by itself should not be a trigger for any companion to start hitting on you.

@@cryofpaine Actually, Lae'zel just want to bang you, not romance you. Which reflect a quite realistic fact about how human relationship works sometimes. So I see no problem with that. People can love at first sight, can sleep at first sight... this game proves to be quite openminded and it's not for my displeasure.

That’s what I’m planning to do for my second run. I’ve romanced Shadowheart as my custom Dragonborn for my first run then after Shadowheart origin run I’m gonna do a Wyll origin romancing Karlach for the third. Really excited to see how that all plays out.

@@Einomar yeah, before you call me a dick and make assumptions about what i can bear or can't maybe think about it. I work in audio engineering and this is exacly why you need people like us for. When it is MY JOB to fix these stuff it REALLY stands out and actually makes it unbearable to watch. Also not to mention these are voice actors, absurtly panned audio is nothing usual and people will sub consiously think something is wrong with what they see and hear, thus actually making negative impressions on those voice actors. They are really good at their job but whoever panned the audio like this needs to go back to school or smth cuz this is just dumb. And you are just being a karen... Stupid.
