It would drastically improve airflow with good air vents at bottom, I don't get why they don't do this, or they will just make a more powerful version with this idea.

Sharpeye Reviews the Asus Zephyrus does this, and it actually works pretty good. Acer makes a Trident or something laptop that is kinda competing with it and it doesn’t have the lifter on it. The only bad thing with these lifting laptops is that they can’t be used at full potential when the lid is closed. The Zephyrus immediately restricts the CPU down to like 1GHz when the kid is closed. So it can be used that way with an external keyboard mouse and monitor but you would have no real power. This Zenbook would technically be the same since it’s exhaust vent is behind the keyboard blowing up along the display. However since it uses an ultra low voltage U series CPU and even has a “keep fan off” quiet mode, it can be used while the kid is closed and you’ll still get most of the total power. It’s a trade off for sure.

end my suffering You mustn'tve heard about the Thinkpad X1 Carbon. And who ever asked for laptops and smartphones so thin that they cant afford to have headphone jacks, USB-A ports and decent batteries.

The obsession with being thin is the problem. A little thicker would help thermals, have a bigger battery, better key travel, and support USB-A . Laptops are thin enough already.

Ed Saucin they don't necessarily need to make the case smaller once you manufacturer a smaller motherboard though.

Just buy a different laptop, plenty of choice for now.

HavocX The device is really thin, so I really can't see a USB-A there. And even if they did add USB-A, the cut for the port would look hideous.

Hamad Alsayed u rite tbh I'd never have a laptop that is thin to the point I can't have something as mundane as USB Type-A I could sacrifice ethernet for an adapter but come on, literally everything and its mechanical mother uses Type-A.

was thinking the same thing when I first saw ASUS came out with the "Ergo lift" VAIO Pro 13 was also already at 1kg, the new standard for premium ultrabook today, even though it was released years ago.

Vaio Z2 series was the first to feature the lifting hinge design back in 2011.

You want your wrists as straight as possible. Laptops are horrible for ergonomics (wrists, neck, back, etc)... tablets are even worse.

Ahoy matie it's pretty bad. I don't have a desk job, I'm just 19, however, I spend most of my time at my desk because I was an ex-professional at CS and am now transitioning to Fortnite. I use a random Dragonwar mechanical keyboard that is extremely flat, however, I still have to take a break and let my wrist relax every 1 and a half hours. It gets to such a bad point that my wrist locks up if I don't take a break

I think to use a laptop comfortably, you have to find a proper combination of height at which you sit compared to the height of your laptop, your positioning and your posture. Sitting at a desk that has a height that is comfortable for you is also essential

Sanchit Dhingra The height and distance required to let your wrists remain straight for the keyboard is much lower than the height and distance of the display to be ergonomic for your neck/back. You should be sitting upright with a level head and wrists as near as straight as possible, which cannot really be done with a laptop or tablet. Docking the laptop to a monitor or keyboard/mouse is the best way to improve ergonomics, as well as having a height-adjustable desk and monitor.

flat keyboards put more pressure on your palm

They only put more pressure on the palm when you type while resting your palm on the palm rest, which, as ironic as it sounds, you're not supposed to do while typing. A flat position is more ergonomic with the correct use of the keyboard.

Indeed, ergonomically speaking keyboards should be tilted away from you, not towards. The only reason they often have those feet is visibility. Its a common misconception that it is for ergonomics. Some high end keyboards have those feet on the opposite edge to tilt the keyboard away from the user, for this very reason.

+Denver Naicker maybe its a personal thing, but I agree with TheRealConcertKing and JapesZX, I always type on the flattest keyboard possible, and that works for me. I find raising the wrist causes me discomfort. For me, the flatness of the Apple magic keyboard range is perfect.

True. Ergonomically your fingertips should be lower than your wrists so that your wrists are straight or bent slightly inward when typing to reduce dangers of carpal tunnel syndrome etc. It does however depend on how you position yourself at your desk.(I use a laptop cooling pad so my laptop is positioned about 2 inches higher than my desk and my wrists stay straight while typing but for people that sit in taller positions or have their laptops flat on their desk what you said is true.) Alternatively you can use gel/foam wrist rests to increase the height of your wrists.
