We need a macros button kit from black magic instead of stream decks and companion, just make an app BM to trigger ur macros.. or make the other buttons assignedanble
Best James, thanks for the video! Is it possible to add white borders around the boxes in supersource? I didn't see this in the video, and don't have the manual available :)
@@tedz2000 exactly. And if this is appealing to more pro users, then those slides and circles and wipes arent going to get used. Some custom transition slots would be nice, like for a instant replay or breaking news.
So basically this could also be used as the perfect compact setup switcher for non streaming video production. I'm mostly concerned about the quality of the final mix output I can get from the USB ssd recording or via the hdmi out port. Seems the minis just keep getting better and better at the next releases. Kudos to BMD!
Sorry for the late response. Are you asking say camera playback of a. CG background to be keyed to another camera? For example cam 1 is tied keyed to a CG background from Comp 1 and you want to switch Cam 2 to use the same CG background?
For using a mirrorless/DSLR camera in 1080p mode at 30fps to do Zoom conferences: Do you know how the video quality of the Blackmagic ATEM Mini compares to the Magewell Capture HDMI Gen 12 and/or the Elgato Cam Link? If I want to minimize latency, am I better off getting an internal computer card like the Magewell Pro Capture HDMI Card? I heard complaints about certain capture cards that use some form of jpeg compression that reduces the video image quality. Does that really matter? Does a device using USB 2.0 vs USB 3.0 make any difference in latency? (I know the Blackmagic ATEM Mini is a switcher with extra features, but at this temporary point, I'm just trying to understand differences in latency and video quality for each device using 1 mirrorless/DSLR camera.) Thanks.
The main issues with Capture Card is you are relying very heavily on the processing power of the computer. The ATEM mini handles majority of the heavy lifting therefore doesn’t way down your computer. I would always recommend going with an external source to handle video capturing AND processing. The latency varies depending on the frame rate. And it honestly won’t change if you go with a capture card or not simply because the latency is based on the HDMI the camera is connected to not the device.
@@jessedameron7985 yes. Well Just HDMI in general. You may have variance in latency depending on specific said cable, however purely by physics and design, HDMI out will create a latency.
Honestly. I don’t think comparing these devices to the Roland is fair for either parties. Both sides serve two completely different markets. But to answer your question it comes down to what do you need to deliver for your production. If you need to deliver 10 bit 422 or higher 4K, then the Roland is the only answer as the ATEM Extremes only deliver in 8 bit 420 1080p.
Any camera can be input into the Atem mini as long as either A) they have an HDMI out or B) you have a converter box to convert SDI to HDMI. But only the Blackmagic cameras will be able to take advantage of the camera controls buttons on the device.
If the sources do not generate time code will the inputs generate timecode relative to the other sources for the source without time code like a Gaming Console or DVD player?
The ATEM can only stream to one source. However you can send the stream to a platform like restream.io where it can send to multiple platforms. You just need to code the ATEM mini to send the signal there. There is somethings you need to be aware of when streaming to Facebook and RU-vid simultaneously. First most multi streaming platforms will only send both at the least resolution platform. And currently Facebook maxes resolution at 720p. So just be aware you will only be able to stream 720p content if you stream to both Facebook and RU-vid.
Both allow you to record but the ISO records each camera’s video image individually as iso recordings along with the Program recording. The basic Extreme model only records program.
Can you imagine stealing someone else's video and posting in on YT.. and no get a copyright strike.. meanwhile a company i work with gets a strike if we put half a second of someone else footage... insane...
