Athlon Argos BTR GEN2 6-24x50!! Quick Look...

Appreciate the info on the Gen II. I have a Gen I, and have noted the purple fringing you referred to in your review of it. Did you happen to notice if the Gen II exhibits the same problem?

Do you have an opinion on a comparison between this Argos and a Vortex Diamondback, also in 6-24x50 FFP, which is just about the same price or a bit less? Also, what mounts did you use with the Argos?

I see you dropped a rubber O-ring when putting the turret cap back on.

One of the big changes is they went from the brass turrets knobs and housing to the stainless steel turrets . Thats why the turret adjustments are solid positive and louder clicks. The stainless steel clicking will track true a lot longer . The only other scope made today in the 400.00 dollar price range that has the stainless steel turret system is the Element scopes but the glass is a lot worse and it doesn't have illumination . So For what you get in this scope its the best scope made toady in the 400.00 range .

I was hoping Athlon would increased the Eye Relief to 3.5 inches or more for my centerfire setups but the turret improvements alone makes it a good buy. I really like the Eye Relief on my Athlon Midas BTR Gen2 4.5-27x50. I had to move my Athlon Talos 6-24x50 to a 10/22 because of the short 3.0" Eye Relief. The only other Athlon Optics that interests me are the Ares BTR Gen2 4.5-27x50 or Ares ETR 4.5-30x56. They would have to be on sale because the Meopta Optika 6's and the New Element-Optics Titan 5-25x56 are in the same price range with greater than 3.5 inches of Eye Relief at Maximum Magnification.

How does it compare to the Vortex Diamondback tac 6x24x50

you do know they make a phone to bipod adapter for under $10 , just saying... I thought these scope came with metal magnetic cope covers. The zero stop is a great improvement. looks like a very nice scope.
