but i think the full atmospheric is better than the full melodic. honestly they are too different to be compared because they have different goals. both are great when done well!
@@smallfaucet Dissection is nothing like Dimmu Borgir. If you haven’t listened to The Somberlain or Storm of the Light’s Bane and you like extreme metal you’re missing out
So cool to see Stormkeep among all these great bands :D (Btw Slaughtersun by Dawn is such a good album, as another comment say, your song choices are top notch haha !)
This was like a "who's who of bands Fredrik listened to in the early 2000s". What an amazing blast from the past. Kudos to great bands and an amazing cover.
Sacramentum - Far Away From the Sun is one of my favourite albums. Stormkeep - Tales of the Othertime was in my top 10 releases from 2021. Faidra - Six voices Inside in Top 50 from 2020. Lord Belial are highly underrated by many and Path is a band i found hunting through youtube. Great selection.
I love how when ever I watch you do these black metal videos especially, you do just look deep in thought and content. You are not a show off, but my god you are a masterful player.
i love them both equally! and i can really get lost in both of them. they're some of my favourite subgenres of black metal and i cannot get enough of them 🖤🤘 also i really love your playing, it's amazing
Same here and for me subgenres of Black Metal are kind of funny because I don't really like "normal" black metal that much but Athmospheric/Melodic/Post/Blackgaze I love
As a devout fan of the melodic black metal scene, you’ve just about touched up on every essential album. If only we could have gotten Ancient God Of Evil by Unanimated and Tales From Eternal Dusk, the pantheon would of been complete. Regardless, you shred like you always have. Keep on ripping brother! 🤘
Hey man, could you suggest some good melodic black metal bands that don't talk about Satan or devilish stuff? I'm trying to get into the subgenre, but I don't know how to start (I mostly listen to melodic /progressive Death metal)
@@alexconnor3368 Of course. Overall, all of the melodic black metal albums featured by Suffocater in this video are essential as I have stated above. But for albums for beginners with less of a satanic theme or imagery are as follow: Vinterland’s sole release “Welcome My Last Chapter” is a solid gem for beginners, with a more clean production and somber tone to the sound. Recommended track: “As I Behold the Dying Sun” Next I would follow up with “Tales From Eternal Dusk” by Dark Fortress as I mentioned above. The album provides much more of the harsh black metal riff-craft than its other melodic black metal contemporaries. One that invokes much more of a fantasy setting than an apocalyptic one. Recommended track: “Twilight” And finally, “Vittra” by Naglfar harnesses the aggression of Dissection and intricacy of Unanimated to create the melodic majesty in question. Recommended track: “Through the Midnight Spheres” As I said before, all of the songs and albums featured in this video are quintessential and must-listen to. So give them all a try if you can.
@@bdawg3942 I already know, I have the album, I love so much! Book of the Fallen is one my favourite songs of all times. I made a cover for the song A Voice Born From the Stone and Dust, in my other channel. Moongates Guardian, Can Bardd, Emyn Muil, Azurah and many more fantastic bands, I love it.
Respect mate, I will do. I’m a 45 yr old metal head. Grew up worshiping early blackmetal. The Summoning & Abigor . Echoes of battle is better than any Summoning release in my opinion. Please check out the song “ in the still of a nth full moon” by Setherial , strid “ end off life “ the original DBSM. And Naglefar “ Im in herbst” ( or something like that. German atmospheric BM).
Just bought Vinterland's album "Welcome to My Last Chapter", lead there by your demonstration of their track. That album is fucking dope is so is your guitar playing. Thank you sir.
TY my friend, all this band is very goood, but for me and just for me, Burzum, dissection and summonig is the best. It was the first time I saw summoning played on the guitar, wow! It was short but it was good.
Been getting back into black metal lately after not listening to it for 10 - 15 years. Gives me some bands to check out =} Top video as always and love your playing =}
Sehr Geil! Ein Track von Boötes Void (2:40), hätte nicht gedacht, dass die noch jemand großartig kennt, die haben definitiv mehr Aufmerksamkeit verdient!
@@TheSuffocater you should do a tribute to Hexenhaus, their 1988 album "A tribute to insanity" has killer, brutal melodic riffs. The whole album is an underrated masterpiece. Listen to the first 2-3 minutes of "As darkness falls"
Epic riffs are epic. Can't choose a winner this time. Great quality btw. A shame you still haven't got 100k subscribers. Grüße aus dem Niemandsland zwischen Ostwestfalen, Sauerland und Münsterland
Fantastic selections! It's too hard to choose... I'd say atmo overall but Far away from the sun, Enter the moonlight gate and Vittra are great albums too (although I'd have gone with something from Sheol but I'm nitpicking). And now thanks to you I've learned about Path. Awesome. 🤟
Oi! I missed ColdWorld and Midnight Odyssey on the atmospheric side and Lord Belial (with Fleshbound) on the melodic side. For the rest: love your vids mate!!!
Always loving these videos! I keep thinking I listen to a ton of metal and then compilation videos like these show up and I get introduced to more and more bands. Also, loving the hair!
Oh fuck yeah! You just made my morning. Not just the band choices, but the songs as well. I was kinda waiting for A Canorous Quintet to appear on the melodic side.
Thats very cool. I dont usually listen to this type of music. But I like the Instrumental ones. One of this reminds me of the game: Valfaris - Cosmic decay ost
Wow, mega Video ! Du hast uns alle wieder gekillt ! Und endlich ist der Tag gekommen, an dem ich Naglfar - Vittra von dir hören durfte ! Das war nur ein Schnipsel, das ganze Album ist pures Gold, mein Lieblingsalbum.
In fact, some of the featured melodic black metal bands are considered melodic black-death. This includes Dissection, Vinterland, Dawn and Naglfar. Speaking of these, I'd also include Unanimated, they are great
