I considered Reiner a goat for escaping like that and saving Armin too, i was as hurt as Eren when i found out the truth. I didnt even notice him winking the direction towards Eren to Annie, was just glad manz made it.
It's still pretty cool, in spite of everything. The way he comes out of her grasp in a spin and all her fingers go flying is an amazing visual and a real show of his skills, as he was the 2nd best of the entire group (and I'm sure that Annie was squeezing him more than necessary as she hated his guts back then.)
Alejandro Magno He’s honestly the most interesting one. He’s the only main character who grew up normally. He was so selfish in the beginning and really just an asshole. He wanted to live safely with the Military Police. He got selfishly mad when Trost was invaded. His home town. And then Marco died and he changed so much from there. He didn’t mature as early as the main 3 did, and that’s exactly why he has been so interesting to watch. Gotta love Jean❤️
+Ieva Jachimaviciute SPOILER ALERT if he does I will die First L out of death note (whole different anime) but not two of my favourite characters out of animes but at least Levi would still be alive but I still Don't want Airmin to die
+Ieva Jachimaviciute and also is it just me or I watch English Dubbed But did Airmin said avenge that suicidal manic instead of that suicidal Bastard am I right?
I love the way Jean kisses his sword and then jumps off his horse and the baddass music plays. Can't explain why but it gave me chills. This is when Jean became one of my favourites.
Jean is my absolute favorite. His character is amazing because he is always scared but he leads and fights anyway because he is able to overcome his fear with concern for his squad mates. He is a complete badass.
I also think Eren generally shows more interest in what Armin says than Mikasa ... this due to their dream of seeing the world thats beyond the walls. Every time he is reminded about it he seems to snap in place/be badass. :Proof with Some Anime Situations ... Spoilers: •Eren saved Armin from being eaten, said he wanted to see the world and take revenge; became titan for the first time and rampaged through most of the city. •Snapped back together to carry the boulder after Armin woke him up from his titan dream; didn't attack Armin and completed mission. •Took down Annie after Armin told him that he had to man up even with a wooden stake to his shoulder and crushed. When Mikasa said that she was tired of hearing lies, he still didnt even want to act.
PijamaSuit actually eren attacked mikasa for another reason not 'cuz he wanted to listen to armin more. Eren (well any titan-merger) becomes a titan when there is a self-harm action and a will to do something. Before Eren started the boulder mission, Mikasa was fussing over him (as usual). This got Eren mad, because he's now a "grown boy" and can do everything and still live and doesn't need Mikasa's help (not true). Before he turns into a titan, it is shown that he is thinking Mikasa as annoying and he is mad at her. So the will to hurt or be mad at Mikasa is the will that turns Eren into a titan, therefore the first thing he'll DO when he actually turns into a titan is hurt or be mad at Mikasa. So that's what he does, but Armin gives his ass a woop and brings him back.
3Stack Ninja I still don't get why Eren attacked Mikasa when he became a titan. But Mikasa acts like a mommy to him.. that irritates me... this good that Eren don't notice her feeling to him. I don't want them to be together.. I don't like anime characters like Mikasa... (just my opinion, don't be mad at me ) ^^*
HedgehogMonty I dont dislike Mikasa, but I ship Ereri but that's not going cannon anytime soon... XD So for a titan-shifter to become a titan they need: self harm + a goal they want to reach. In that case for Eren when he attacked Mikasa it was... Self harm: the usual thumb biting he does, Goal: to be mad at Mikasa. When Eren is in human form and he gets irritated at Mikasa and decides to give her a friendly slap it's not that dangerous, but as a 15 meter titan? It's an attack.
ScorchtheHawk .i think reiner wrote something on her hand with his sword because she kept looking at it. she is not dumb so i think she was reading a message
@@chief8268basically armin had suspiciouns over the identity of the female titan already. To save Jean, he started yelling about how the titan accidentally killed eren, although in a way not to reveal his name. The subtitles are wrong here, usually he says “avenge the suicidal maniac” which is erens infamous name among the 104 cadets. So, he managed to save jean, and figure out the identity and motive of the female titan (to capture eren alive) all under pressure
Armin’s comment was actually pretty brilliant as it was designed to both help save Jean and also give Armin a clearer idea of the Female Titan’s objective and her identity. Emotionally screaming out about his best friend rushing to his death implies that the Female Titan had accidentally killed Eren earlier on. Her abrupt pause more or less confirms his hunch that she’s searching for the Yeager boy and that she probably wants him alive. Furthermore, by purposely omitting Eren’s name it also suggests to Armin that the Female Titan is someone who personally knows both him and Eren.
Amazing how he never addressed that topic for 8 FUCKING YEARS. He left it in the air, a lot of people stopping caring because the plot moved on. And then in Chapter 131 Isayama just: "You seriously don't get it?" "I don't..." And the fandom was like: "I mean with Armin makes sense after all , but why Annie..? OH SHIT NOW IT MAKES SENSE WHY SHE SPARED HIM! WAIT THAT WOULD ALSO EXPLAIN WHY THE WHOLE SCENE OF DISCOVERING ANNIE SHE WAS ONLY TALKING ARMIN!! HOLD UP, THAT ALSO EXPLAIN WHY SHE, etc..." Isayama is a genius
Bro, I still get goosebumps to this day. Of course now the more you know, the more you feel like it doesn't make a difference. However, if everyone has caught up to the end of the Four Season at this point, then you know about the circumstances. But pure Nostalgia, if you look back on the first season, yeah this show Reiner to be the 🐏 whenever everyone else was just dying because of her
From a tactical standpoint, she should have killed him. But she didn't. Twice. AoT isn't exactly the story for plot armour, so that reason goes out the window. It seems that Annie had reservations about killing Armin; personally, I think she just didn't like killing nice people that she got to know, and by Annie's logic, if she had succeeded in her mission that day, Armin would live and she'd never have to see him again. A win-win. Problems only started when she both left Armin alive AND failed her mission. Emotions and conscience can cloud one's judgement in times of war.
@@wishivani and if she stopped because shes human, she woudlnt of killed all those other soldiers, she knows armin, she has a sof spot for him, and the only reason she DIDNT kill JEAN is because armin interrupted
Why people hate Armin so much? I mean he's the brain in the series, his plans are only surpassed by Erwin's plans. Idk why people keep thinking that by killing titans all the problems will be solved, Sometimes they have to think deeply what they are going to do, and that's where Erwin and Armin are above all the others. I don't like to spoil, so i only will say that in the manga there's a part where thanks to Erwin's suicide plan and Armin's quick thinking they had success in a very important moment,
Yes!! I LOVE ARMIN! I really hate it when Levi just replaces him in the main trio in pictures because im like " Um... Levi. Your not supposed to be in this. Get out -3-"
The first time I saw this in Japanese I thought Armin was a girl and I was like ohlalala, who's this cute chick. Then I heard him in English and my face dropped.
I started out really hating Jean at first but he kind of snuck his way into my heart, I really felt for him when he mourned over Marco's death. He better not die in the next season or else I'll be flipping tables!!!!!
Fun fact: When Armin said "Jean! Avenge my friend!" He was reffering to Eren which made the Female Titan/Annie making her think she accidentally crushed Eren while rushing to go find Eren so that Armin could save Jean.
SPOILERS!!! Reiner is a good actor, on the other hand he tends to have amnesia. Sometimes he thinks he is a warrior, other times he believes himself a soldier, and he switches sides. :P Annie definitely dislikes him. I have no idea whether she really wanted to kill Reiner at that time or not, but she never liked him.
SPOILER He has some sort of multiple personality disorder, so it's not really "acting". I think it was his reaction to stress, he basically created "the soldier" to deal with huge pressure. I think that his friendship and feelings towards comrades weren't fake, they were true for "the soldier".
Definitly Armored and Colossal Titan arc were the best also the sales were the highest in that year its a pity that the Domestic-arc its the opposite of that magnificent arc
I have not read the manga, but I can spot what's going on. 1: 0:18 Annie deliberately blows off Jeans hood. 2: 0:20 Annie knocks Armin off the horse on purpose to see who it was. 3: 0:38 Armin realizes who the female titan might be. 4: 1:12 Armin confirms his suspicion by yelling out to Jean " This one killed my friend, the suicidal bastard! " This shocks Annie and she freezes up to contemplate what Armin just said. 5: 1:41 Riener takes off his hood, Which is weird, Armin told all of them to cover up and Annie spent the first part of the attack de-hooding both Jean and Armin. Another weird part, the look exchange between Riener and Annie before she grabs him. And last but not least, Annie changes direction. Earlier Armin told both Riener and Jean that he thinks Eren is in the rear flank. Both Riener and Jean had Eren located somewhere else. I can't put my finger on it but it seems something weird going on between Riener and Annie. Why did he pull his hood off? So Annie could see???
Deadpeng Zheng Nope, he just read the manga. Why else would he say "I have no read the manga". Because he pointed out the exact things that were exposed on the manga.
I still like him too but not as much. He kind of went crazy and I do think either the ape, parents or someone else forced then because he did say " we were only kids. We didn't know" or something like that in the manga.
0:01 Just noticed.... Jean kisses his hand.. before fighting the female titan... The same hand.... From which he had touched Marco's ashes..... These little details is what make this anime.. beyond masterpiece....
My mind gets blown every time I go back and look at previous scenes. Always tons of foreshadowing and things you don't realize or notice till much later.
Damn. Armin is such an awesome character. I mean, when he has to do something, he just does it. Also, without his help, Eren, Mikasa, Jean etc. would already be dead by now.
Armin playing 4D chess on the fly. I love those typically "weak" characters who are actually far stronger than they let on simply by being brilliant or cunning.
well, I will explain why armin is my favorite character ... he is so intelligent,Briliant person, his IQ must be very high, he puts the pieces together very fast, he does not stop to process information even facing death, when Eren was unconscious in titan shift, only armin make him wakeup and carry that Fucking Boulder to seal the wall. He practically destroyed the plans of titan female, armored and colossal titan FUCKING ALONE, finding each of them, "knowing" their plans and traped each of them on the corner, you know where I'm getting at? WITHOUT HIM HUMANITY WOULD BE DAMNED! All of hes plans works,Hes is the fucking Boss, he is not strong or be better than the others, he just uses his brain, he blames himself for not help the others coz he is physically weak and think he is a dead weight, but he was born to be a Commander\Admiral, HE IS THE REAL BADASS OF THIS ANIME\MANGA!
+Ruhancarlos Condes agreed. he's the reason eren's found the desire to fight every single time. i like eren but with armin is the reason he's useful/not dead. kids a fucking genius
i was okay until the day i knew the reason jean kissed his hand was because that was the hand that held marco's ashes before he went to face the female titan 😃
@@thespyer2k Not sure why am I answering to comments years old haha but actually that was just speculation that he carved something that would lead her it wasn't cofnirmed that it happened that way and yeah it looks more real and it is a bigger possibility that he tried to tell her the direction by that head movement I mean he was at one moment crushed in her hands he couldn't possible start drawing on her hands but still it is anime haha.
@@thespyer2k That's just Armin's wrong guess about how exactly the signal was. He was right about the what, but we see here how exactly he signaled it. FT looking at her healing hand is just like the Ape Titan going "ooh ah" after crushing the titan that tried to eat Mike.
After catching up with the manga and rewatching the series for a second time, I realised this whole thing was so damn staged it's amazing. Armin trying to trick Annie into thinking she crushed Eren by accident as a test to know if that titan really is Annie or not and test his theory that they are after Eren for real and know about him. Armin even calls him "suicidal maniac" and "his best friend", each specific qualities of Eren and she stops at that, rather than killing Jean, 90 percent confirming Armin's suspicion that it's a titan shifter under there, and further narrowing it down to people in the same cadet regiment as him and Eren with his choice of words getting such a reaction. Another 10 seconds of thinking and this mystery wouldve been in the bag. Unfortunately he already told Reiner about his theory about Eren being in the centre rear, who also noticed how dangerously close Armin was getting to reveal the female titans identity. This causes Reiner to go into action before it's too late serving the double purpose of also stopping Armin's thought process temporarily, as his dear friend is facing a deadly, intellectual titan after all. And notice here that Reiner removed his hood that was supposed to keep him anonymous to bring home the point he has important info to give to Annie and that something is up. Reiner then deliberately does a wide arc in front of annie and towards her arm area as an indication to grab him, she does a knowing smile at this to show that she gets it and grabs him. Just before he gets "crushed", he WINKS and TILTS his head to the direction eren is in (look close). He then cuts himself out to avoid suspicion and boom, she now knows Eren is alive and which direction she should check and that Armin was bullshitting, all in one subtle movement. And immediately after she ignores them and goes in the exact direction reiner nodded to. Also notice how bullshit the way he cut himself out is, especially from that position. Isayama is amazing.
You are right, back in the day it didn't look staged. It looked like a risky event that went along because Reiner was a badass. But what is also the best thing? Armin realized time later that something was not right and not only with Annie, but also with Reiner. Armin couldn't believe how stupidly Reiner survived and how suspicious was Annie's run. It was the same about being Armin the one discovering Annie. It could have been anyone else. But Armin discovering Annie and made it look like Annie felt deeply betrayed by Armin, meant a lot in the Last Manga Chapter (Chapter 131).
@@rodrigomora1178 Agreed, another couple things were how in the beginning when eren was talking about the colossal titan, the camera focused on bertholdt and the same for Reiner about when they were talking about the armoured. Another tiny hint was how badly bertholdt and reiner were shitting bricks when they saw Zeke turn up for the first time while everyone else was simply scared and wondering why it was so damn hairy. And little hints such as how suspicious reiner and annie were in wanting to make this titan their ally (titan shifters and all that). And them looking terrified, especially reiner, when they hear the cannon shot at eren as it seemed their founding attack titan was executed along with their mission being destroyed at the first sign of seeing the titan smoke. Among a whole host of other things such as talking about his "homeland" alot and that being his driving force to get back to, which makes alot more sense now that we know he is simply talking about marley Along with the season 2 reiner speech making far more sense once you read on about the warrior program, and that he was actually serious, not just insane on the brink of snapping like a twig. That's a lotta easter eggs
@Chipo Bh Agreed, but I just assumed they would go visit their destroyed village like connie did for closure. And they call it homeland because its dear to them, damn were we wrong.
Fun fact: when Jean “kissed his sword” he wasn’t actually kissing the handle, he was kissing the had that held Marco’s ashes in the beginning of season 1.
For some reason, in this scene, Armin seems so badass. Starting at 0:13, he becomes very crazy yet intelligent. Though some call him weak or shy, he's actually a well formed character. Whoever made the manga and created this scene deserves a cookie! :3
***** It just sucks that we see characters develop overtine and u fall in love with them. Then bam there gone, I'm so glad they decided not to kill off Sasha.
This animé has such a "rewatchability" factor because everytime you watch a new season, it changes your perspective on how you see it and then you want to rewatch it to look for hidden details and foreshadowings.
Bruh I just realized why Armin was shouting that stuff......... He was pretending the guy she killed was EREN so she can get CONFUSED. ALREADY SUSPECTING ANNIE TO BE THE FEMALE TITAN
Fun Fact: At 0:00 Jean Kisses his hand likely as a remembrance to Marco, whose ashes were held in the same hand an episode prior. Perhaps it’s a reminder that he’s fighting in the honor of his best Friend.
0:51 according to the "aot things you didn't know" vid, the flip jean does there is the slow-mo flip done in the 1st opening by a random dude who looks like jean
*POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT!* What surprises me the most is that Armin, with all his supposed intelligence, doesn't pick that immediately after this happened, the female titan knew Eren's location. That alone should've warranted keeping a closer eye on Reiner. But what really cracks my balls is that nobody seemed to give a fuck that Reiner was basically crushed, then somehow got away without a single scratch on him.
Reiner is always going to one of my faves no matter what. he is my 3rd favourite character behind Eren and Mikasa. he's such a beast and has an important role in the story!
And I thought Jean was that useless character... TBH I'm liking he's character more and more, he's coward, sometimes scared, but I know he can fight and lead the others and he just keeps growing in me and that's the part where I was all wrong all the time! I Should never underestimate someone.
The only thing I could think at 2:22 was 'That's how one pronounces Reiner, bitches!' *And for fuck's sake, does every **_fucking_** manga reader have to spoil it?*
I had so much respect for Reiner in this scene but when I read the Manga I was like, why Reiner? how could you? But this scene also gave me some respect for Jean because in the beginning he was a prick and now he cares about people and is trying to save them
in the beginning we see jean kiss his hand, i get he possibly is just kissing the hand he’s holding his blade with but i think that’s the same hand that held marcos ashes when he found him :(
People really don't see how good Jean was with the ODM gear. Fires grapple into shoulder, notices Titan turn to attack, fires second grapple into thigh with boosted gas to dodge and uses the momentum to swing around with potential to go for the nape. Levi Squad potential.
