To explain the whole Rod Reiss Titan thing. In season 2 we learn that the ragako villagers were turned into titans by gas, which caused some to be deformed and weird. This was a new untested method of transforming titans. We later see this technique refined. So you CAN digest it but it's not safe or perfect. What happened here is: Rod's tongue got cut by Kenny. So he digests it, and some gets in his blood stream. So its an in between. Reason why he becomes huge is because the vial contains spinal fluid of the "strongest titan" (seen in the manga) Which is either he Founding or Collosal. So if Historia got injected. She'd turn SAFELY into a big pure titan. But since Rod got licked it AND got it in the wrong way, his pure titan becomes sort of an in-between. Or maybe the royal blood thing reacts poorly when taken like this

Differences from the manga: The brief confrontation between Levi and Kenny is exclusive to the anime.

Eren not only relived the moment he ate his own father, but also the moment said father slaughtered an entire family of women and children just to obtain a power he can't even use. In his eyes, his entire life was a lie, all the people that died for him died for nothing, and as far as Eren knew, he and his father are responsible for humanity's continued suffering. Now he just heard he has a chance to possibly make things right by sacrificing his own life? It's a lot honestly, and his plea to Historia to eat him hurts my heart. Both of their roles basically reversed in this moment. Historia started off wanting to die because she thought the world would be better off without her, then she wanted to exterminate all the titans. Eren on the other hand started off wanting to exterminate all the titans, then wanting to die because he thought the world would be better off without him. 💔 Loved the fact that it was Ymir's words, her "wish", that helped Historia make a decision in what is arguably the most important moment of her life. The vocals coming up as she whacked the syringe away was just fantastic! And don't worry about more questions piling up, eventually they'll all be answered 😊
