Replacing the bad PCV on my 2011 Audi A4, because it was running Rough at idle. Also throwing a fault code for bank 1 running too lean at idle. When I replaced the bad PCV valve the car ran like new.
Great tutorial! Worked perfectly for my 2011 a4 b8 just under 70k miles. Took out the rough idle and audible whine from the engine. So far, no repeat on the codes.
Did your car have a check engine light on?, apparently the symptoms of a bad PCV valve is that you turn on the car, and then try to remove the oil cap with the engine running, if the oil cap is easy to remove it’s good, if the cap is very hard to remove it’s bad, or when you take off the oil cap has a suction sound like a vacuum then is bad, mine has both of the symptoms and the weird thing is that I don’t have a check engine light on
@@samwh4775 I hope you replaced or found your leak, you can blow a rear main seal if you drive around with a bad PCV and that costs more than 1K. Shouldnt have a vacuum.
I'm suspecting my pcv has also failed. I was told that to check it I have to pull the dipstick while idling . if the pcv is ok then the engine should idle roughly. in my case when I pull the dipstick there's no change in from at idle. I'm getting error code p0172. system 1 bank too rich. If I drive with gheto catch can. I won't make and damage? I was told that in some cases if pcv failes it might cause too much pressure in the engine and damage the rear engine seal. how is that exsesive engine presseure created ?
thanks for uploading this. How is the car running with it so far? Any problem with this part? Was it the correct part even though it's not translucent? I have an 09 B8 that i'll need to change pcv valve for as well, not sure which part to order as there are many to choose from on ECS. Thanks
my car sometimes shuts off when i want to accelerate it happened a few times. when I want to pull up it seems like it drops a little. Its only wen i try to pull up. No light at the moment on the dashboard. Car mile 160.000 km. Did your car did the same?
Hi. Thanks for the video. Can pcv valve fault show "oil pressure low" on dash? Because my audi is showing low oil pressure fault & local dealer has tried everything.. From checking sensors to replacing oil & oil filters etc but that fault keeps coming on & off. Because of this the car is running on idle mode I think. Grateful to help out guys.. Thanks
I can’t even pull my oil cap off, does that means the pvc is bad? I can remove the dipstick thingy and it idle rough. Also idle rough this morning. I have p2177 not 2187 though
JUST FYI u don't need to remove the entire part just replace the oil separator gasket and voila is done. The gasket will just cost about 40 compare to the entire part which will run around 200. Remove the circular cover that u see on top of the part and replace the gasket, it will come with the spring as well.
Hi wonder if anyone could help me. From cold the car tells me to stop the engine and check oil. When it gets to normal temperature its then fine. Also it seems to be burning petrol so fast. Thanks
i have a 2012 Audi A4 Quattro when I start the car it hesitate to keep running at idle. Does this shows it needs to replace the PCV valve? Please advise thank you.
I tried replacing my pcv valve but now the car is misfiring. I put the old one back and its runs fine but the rpm is still high. Do after market pcv valves work on audi a4s? Mines a 2005 a4 quattro 2.0 T.
My 2011 a4 is consuming oil. But I don’t have a check engine light on. I wanted to get a new pcv valve to see if that is the problem I hope to god it’s not the pistons.
Well, l didn’t have a check engine light either and it also burns oil. My car is an 2011 a4 as well, so I changed the pcv valve and it didn’t help. You might have better luck.
POLAK_213 I plan on selling the car I want an Lexus IS 2014- I’m tried of german cars. Want to go back to Japanese never has an issue with them ever since I got my 2013 bmw 335 and this a4 granted this is the only issue with the Audi. I hope I can fix it because I love this car so much especially it being a 6 speed.
Yeah I here you on that, German cars are troublesome. Lexus IS are nice cars, Japanese cars are known for their reliability in their engines. Hope it fixes it for you, 6speeds are kind of rare.
POLAK_213 exactly this is why I want to keep my a4 especially with it being a 6 speed black on black. I love this car, hopefully this will fix it I know these cars had a recall on the oil issue.
@@HotSizzleTV_ If your car is consuming oil, and it's a B8 A4 then I can almost guarantee that you need new piston rings. That issue is super common on this engine for Audi A4's 2009-2011.
My 2014 A4 burning oil like crazy right now too. Thinking a new PCV valve might help since when I open the oil cap while the car is idling there is a lot of suction
The replacement pcv you put on is the old style and incorrect part #, visually you can tell because it's all black. The updated pcv's have a translucent section on top, as the one you removed has. The old style one will lower crankcase vacuum and could damage the rear crankshaft oil seal as the ecm has been reflashed for the updated pcv you just removed and crankcase vacuum will be incorrect, also it will increase oil consumption.
Lance Fulfer the all black one is pre oil consumption update. Etka the Audi parts catalog does not supersede to the new style for some reason. I've been a tech at an Audi dealer for over 10 years.
steve- i have an 09 A4 with about 60k miles...i had the oil consump issue and it was fixed per audi recall, which included replacing pcv...6 months later, i have a RMS leak and my indie tech believes ita due to bad pcv. My Q is: could the pre-fix pcv caused my rms to leak, and since it was so soon after i got new pcv, should audi be covering my rms fix? thanks for you help!
steve - so, based on your knowledge, I should have a translucent unit in my car post- oil fix? if i have an all black unit, it can still fail and cause oil issues...ie extra pressure to make my seals leak? i will investigate further and see if Audi is responsible for the RMS leaking....TBC
Jcniceberry that’s oil coming out the pub valve tube if u Liston closely u can hear the air coming out by the clip where it connects. Put ur finger around it to see if u hear the air stop leaking out n also u will notice the oil on ur finger from it being blown out.
Very helpful. I need to buy it on my car. I got an audi and its giving me alot of problems. Never again buying this fuckin car. Next year toyota or honda
Stopped watching after seeing how you were taking the coil pack connectors out... jesus.. Push connector inward, pull back the tab, release the connector. Literally that simple..
themobbkillas you probably never had to deal with bad connectors, trust me those idiot engineers didn’t count for plastic melting together, I got lucky that I barely got mine off but if you look it up everyone’s shit gets stuck
@@V8dadmartin You legit just talked shit but don't have anything to back it up , he is going to fucking rip the tabs pushing like that , right technique , EVEN if it is stuck , push inwards connector and then pull back the tab using a screwdriver or hand , but its to push nicely , not just fucking jam a screwdriver in there ugga dooga style and then it comes out nicely. How many connectors did you remove? Gotta love youtube mechanics.
Sorry part is if this was a domestic, that vavle usually ends up under 10 things and around a corner anymore. Exotic cars are made to be more user friendly in maintanence.
