Hello fellow Audi S3 Fanatic fans! Today’s DIY project, retrofitting puddle and emergency lights into your Audi S3 door panels. The following parts are what you’ll need:
- Vagcom cable to activate hidden modules and to code the lights on
- Puddle and emergency lights with wiring harness: www.ebay.com/itm/8x-Door-Warn...
- Oznium 11mm LED: www.oznium.com/led-bolt
- Posi-tap connectors: www.ebay.com/itm/10-Pack-RED-...
On a difficulty scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this project a 4 simply due to the challenges of coding. Aside from that, it’s quite simply. You’ll remove the door panels, install your emergency lights in the stock location, drill a hole and install the Oznium LEDs for the puddle lights. Once that’s completed, you’ll connect the wiring cable from the kit to both lights, then tap it into the door’s wiring connection box.
If you have questions, please post them and I’ll do my best to help.
Huge shout out to www.audi-sport.net as I was able to find the necessary information from other forum members to help me complete this DIY project.
Thanks for watching another Audi S3 Fanatic DIY video!

William, I see that you have a Q5. Unfortunately, I do not know which terminals you'll need to plug your wires into. For the S3, you can try pin 12 (live/positive) and pin 13 (earth/ground). @billywhizz98
@billywhizz98 4 года назад
gadget mad you can buy the puddle lights & warning lights complete with looms from AliExpress all you need to do is when you put the lights in the door casing join the warning and puddle lights together as you will only need one live feed to each door and just earth the others somewhere on each of the doors the live you can take from the interior lights that way everything will work as it should example when you open any of the doors the warning and puddle will illuminate as the should and when you close the door they will switch off hopefully this is some help I have heard that you can put the live feed from the warning and puddle lights into the door module but I don’t know what colour wire the need to connect too you could use a circuit tester and try finding it it will be easier than running a feed to the interior lights

@TheAutomotiveFanatic
@TheAutomotiveFanatic 3 года назад
oIBRAHIMo, you do not need to use emergency lights. As you can tell, for the puddle lights, I used a super bright LED. In your case, you can use the Audi Sport logo light as long as it fits.

Not sure whether there is anyone here who could reply to me but.. you don't need the LED interior package? With footwell lights? I only have the basic halogen interior lights and no footwell. I'm sure you don't but I'm just wondering as would the plug be energised (and thus the lights) when I open the door? (if they do, I'm sure they're energised as soon as I unlock the car)
@TheAutomotiveFanatic
@TheAutomotiveFanatic 4 года назад
Mc Frosty, some S3s were sold without the interior LED package. My S3 was one of them so I retrofitted the LED lighting. In terms of emergency puddle lights, the plug is there, but you have to code modules to work. For the footwell lighting, you will need to tap into empty plugs and code the modules to work as well. I did perform the footwell retrofit, but never completed the video. It was a complicated project with lots of coding. A few DIYers have accomplished this though.

@@TheAutomotiveFanatic Ah, wonderful thank you for the comment, very helpful! I was thinking about doing footwell lighting but wasn't too keen as it'll probably just show any dirt around there and make me want to clean the car haha. Hello William, I do not believe they are. I have coded several different Audi's and in most cases, the codes were very specific to the chassis.

I have bought some puddle and red warning lights complete the with the looms from AliExpress I have fitted them into the holes in the doors but cannot wire them up because no instructions came with them I was thinking of just pushing the wires off the loom into the main door loom-module obviously I will try and find out what colour wires should go to can you show me a close up photo of the door module where your puddle and warning lights go to kind regards Billy
