Hi peter Just been looking over some of your older videos and found this one I love this car as Iv had my new SQ7 now for over two weeks now And it literally blows my mind every time I drive it how can something that weighs over 2 1/2 ton drive the way does launch control everything is forced into my spine I just bloody love it I honestly think you just can’t get a better car for the money great review as always mate catch up soon 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Onya Carl! I've had mine for a year and love it. The only thing that's beaten it so far was a pesky Lambo Aventador (I was gracious in defeat)..... hahaha. Enjoy the grunt - no more turbo lag.... Bravo Audi
This SQ7 has Brabus performance on the torque side at 900Nm that is bonkers but great. I just love the Audi range as a whole for example the RS6 Avant, & S8 plus just what will they do next ?
The reason why this car is so fast it has a 48 volt battery that is hooked up to a compressor that spins up to 70,000 RPM this fills in the gaps thus the reason why you would not feel turbo lag and it just gets on with the job in hand. I think you could call this a Tri-Turbo set up
great car ... good review. Lucky me in the U.S. I cant be tempted to buy one , as I see you are. I had a good laugh imagining 7 passengers in the car as you nail it to 165 mph...passengers screaming, clawing at the glass to escape.
Cheers Christopher. I know I didn't have long with it :-( No plans to revisit this one until the next update comes out. There are so many cars out there and not enough time ;-)
Hi Peter, great review & just subbed. I currently have the 2016 Q7 3.0 TDI SLine 272 and I have to say it's been a great car over this year. it does 60 in 5.9 I think which is crazy especially as I can get 40mpg out of it regularly even with the 21 inch wheels I got. A word on mpg though; their figures are using the economy setting on drive select as it holds on to gears far longer. Mine gets 20% better economy on eco over dynamic plus they also use standard wheels etc. I have to say I am seriously thinking about an upgrade to the SQ7 within 12 months.
Thanks for the Sub and the comments. Economy figures always make my laugh. It's normally possible to achieve them some how but not when driving as you would drive every day. If you get an SQ7 I will make you a small wager that you don't drive much in the economy settings. Go and have a test drive and I reckon you won't wait 12 months :-)
I would definitely agree that I wouldn't be driving the SQ7 in anything but dynamic mode as the economy mode is significantly slower and less fun. Do you know what though, I think I've stayed away from the Audi dealership because I 100% know I could not wait 12 months after driving it. The sales person would have to do very little....unfortunately we are looking at moving house within the year and I don't think I can afford both this year :( You can also guess which of those purchases is going to please the missus the most can't you haha. Well at least I get some brownie points for when I do get to the dealership.
I feel your pain. You should try doing RU-vid as a hobby. One the upside I get to drive some cool cars (the next 2 weekends I've got Aston Martin V12 Vantage S Convertible and the new Porsche Panamera !) but on the downside I always want to buy them and can't !!!! Of all the cars I've driven it's only the Aston that my other half has been interested in !!
Nice one mate. Good to speak to you. Keep up with the video's as i like your style and enthusiasm. There aren't many car channels I like as they are often too over the top but I do like yours and Harry's garage. I will have a look through more of your vids this week and good luck convincing the missus :)
To be fair that would be a waste of money if you already own a Q7 3.0TDI which is quite decent in my opinion...Why not try an ECU Remap, remove the DPF and that car will get quite a lot faster and even better mpg for less then $1000...
Love the sq7, when the third turbo (if u count the electric compressor) kicks in, it’s just crazy. No turbo leg from stand still but noticeable leg until third turbo fully kicks in, it’s crazy fast!
I have to ask: why the car is so slow getting to 60mph? The RR Sport SVR is a lot quicker - I know it has more HP but it also has a lot less torque, and, as we all know, the initial requirement for setting off is high torque.
Audi had another formidable diesel in V-10 form a while back. Unfortunately it was short lived in the US market but well loved. I'm curious as to how this V8 compares?
I've not had experience of the V10 you talk about, however the V8 in this car is MIGHTY. You will also find it in the new Porsche Panamera and Cayenne.
I'll go one step further... I just bought one in ink blue.... Holy $hit.... after test driving porsche, jaguar, Range Rover - this thing bowled me over.
@@PetrolPed I've just responded to you by liking the video and subscribing to your channel. Did you say you got 30.7 mpg or 13.7 mpg? ,Mat Watson of carwow said he averaged 30.8 mpg in the Bentley bentayga diesel.
@@mekanenrikmekanenrik416 -I can tell you. If you treat it really nice - on the highway it'll achieve 8.9L/100km. If you jam your right foot in testing it against Mustangs.... it'll chew wayyyy more - entirely possibly 13MPG. But you'll get there real quick.
Nice review PatrolPED. Going to get one of these in the next few weeks. Very excited. I've never tracked ships in my live but I seem to be watching every ship out of Emden hoping my Audi is on it :)
PET GREAT PLOG,I WAS WONDERING DID THAT SQ7 HAVE CARBON CERAMIC BRAKES,LET ME KNOW YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE BRAKES IF YOU THINK ITS WORTH THE EXTRA STOPING POWER,DOES THAT CAR NEED THE CERAMICS,AS IT IS SUCH A HEAVY CAR THANKS
No, this car had steals and the stopping power was very impressive. I only think you need carbon ceramics if you are going to be tracking the car or driving really hard. Not sure many people would do that to this car.
I LIVE IN CYPRUS AND THE ROADS IN VERY MOUNTENES,LIKE A SNAKE UP AND DOWN AND,I WORRY IF I DONT ORDER IT WITH CARBON BRAKES I WOULD REGRET YOUR OPINION IS VERY VALUED THANKS AGAIN
Quality Pete just find your need the black pack on it and in the blue colour to make it stand out more .. yes I know it's a Q car .. excuse the pun but want more visual effects. Another great vid though mate👍
+Petrol Ped There actually is a "black edition" .. we ordered one back in august with a white paintjob and all-black exterior package (mirrors, grill and so on)
No, but I take that as a huge compliment as I consider him to be one of the best ! I met him at Festival of Speed this year and had a lovely chat. He's a great guy.
Im not sure the svr is worth the cash the infotainment is old and many cars have more tech than the rover and as standard aswell. There are things that i expect to be standard on a car of that price. The 2016 has no wireless charging and a really old computer price needs to come down to around 50k
Nice fast car BUT -- you should check your rear view and door mirrors before you overtake. I am glad I was not overtaking you in a car or bike when you overtook that car after telling us the milage you were getting. I am not jealous or trying to be smart -- i have the new Q5 on order and I intend to keep the panels bump free. But be aware that there may be somebody else on the road with a similar fast car or bike enjoying a drive just like you--- till you come along and put them in a field or hospital. Check those mirrors !!
Donny Deer Thanks for the comment. I am an advanced driver which involved intensive training and a 2 hour test with a Police Class 1 instructor. I can assure you I was fully aware of what was in front and behind me. When filming in car it is imperative that I am aware of what is happening outside of the car. I take driving very seriously and as a keen cyclist understand the importance of looking out for other road users.
So a turbocharger that thinks it's a supercharger, but without the mechanical drag. What a great way to use tech. 900 metric torques is about 660 real torques, is that right?
